As dkluin told us, that there is no specific plan for the radio stations of MLL and CC, I thought it could be done by me to let the developers and programmers focus on the cities itself.

As the current state tells us that MLL (now Midway) will develop much faster than Carcer, I'll start with Chicago-influenced stations to be ready when Midway will see it's release.

First of all, how many songs should be played? I assume that 8 songs would be enough, looking at the filesize.

Poll is included.

Music is a very personal topic, so I'll collect your input here. Feel free to make proposals.

Confirmed to be done by me:

- Roaring FM: Music from 1925-1940, with inspiration from the mafia game

- The Wraith: Obviously, its the Wraith soundtrack. Pure 80s cheese.

- MaxJazz: Listen to Chicago jazz. The city cant go without that station.

- The Alternative: 90s alternative rock, nothing too hard.

- THE MIX 99.4: Another pop station.

- Rewind 106.0: classics from the 60s to the 80 (here could your soft rock fit)

optional:

- Double Clef Midway: Italian Operas, for the mafia sentinels.

- 91.6 Bounce: 90s techno.. dont take too much exctasy.

Guys, why don't include some songs that were known by everyone? Like:-

-black eye peas: where is the love

-aerosmith: I don't wanna miss a

thing

BTW, if pre 2010 song can be accepted then there is a lot to choose.

Sorry if this is a bump, but do you mind if I throw my two cents in here?

Radio ideas, if some of them could be put into use:

MIDWAY

Warehouse FM - Airing from a club that's somewhere downtown, this station fuels Midway's thriving house culture. Plays Chicago house music and hard house.

KDMJ North - Live from the Texan city of Lonestar, hits from 1930-1960 are played on this station. Hosted by Jackson Miles, 'the Texan Exile'.

94.2 WEED - Reggae station native to Midway. Sees K-JAH as a rival station.

CARCER - coming soon

Nice, love the possible, MLL variant of double clef FM, instead of "bounce" there should be MLL variant of SF-UR (it would make sense because house/techno was once popular in chicago) like the name could stay similar (MLL-UR), many of the songs in SF-UR are "forreign" if that makes sense, this version could have most of the american underground stuff. and some of the stations could be similar style that of liberty city, but with different songs.

I'll propably spend the most time driving, so I can live with that.

Meanwhile, the voting told me that a stunning 70% of you prefer 8-10 songs. I even finished three stations by now. The quality can not keep up with R*, but the DJ audio quality is better than in Bullworth.

News are completely missing by now, just because I still want to wait if Midway will stay in a timeline around 2003. Same for adverts. If you don't like news and adverts anyway, I can pass the files to DK and his team.

I proudly present you the DJs and tracks for:

REBEL FM - a rock station moderated by the Canadian duo Jacques Grenouille and Richard "Rick" Scott. Both former rock stars that now earn their money in Midway. Grenouille from Québec stands for the strong Franco-Canadian culture, while Scott is from Ontario. As Midway is very north in the GTA state and almost borders to canada, its not wrong using Canadians here. A running gag is that they cant do the weahter report because Grenuille ate the forecasting frog.

Tracks:

- introduction by Rick Scott

01 Alice Cooper - Poison

02 Ratt - Body Talk

- short break with Rick Scott

03 Judas Priest - Painkiller

04 Aerosmith - Dream On

- again a one-liner by Rick Scott

05 Billy Idol - Rebel Yell

06 Bryan Adams - Summer of 69

- two-liner by Grenouille

07 Johnny Hallyday - La Peur

08 Annihilator - Allison Hell

- good-bye by Grenouille

09 Téléphone - Une Autre Monde

10 Journey - Seprerate Ways

105.2 XUR is a little mix of Radio X and SF-UR influences. I am well aware of the fact that Chicago was influenced by Alternative Rock and Funk. DJ is the 25-year-old Claire Gruber (german word game). She was born in Leipzig-Eutritzsch, saxony, and spent her first years in GDR and after the graduation, she wants to see the world, especially the USA and finally found her home in Midway.

- introduction by Claire Gruber

01: Cranberries - Dreams

02: Hoobastank - The Reason

03: Radiohead - Creep

04: Smashing Pumpkins - Tonight

- short break for DJ

05: Oasis - Wonderwall

06: Bomfunk MC - Freestyler

07: Sleezy D - I Lost Control

08: Fast Eddie - Acid Thunder

09: Technohead - Wanna be a Hippy

- good-bye from the DJ

10: Scooter - Hyper Hyper

MaxxJazz:

Of course this is for the great Jazz History of Midway. DJ is Clarence "The Sergeant" Wilford, an Afro-American and former police officer. He regrets being born in 1932, he would have preferred being a policeman in the times of Al Capone.

- introduction

01: Louis Armstrong - What a Wonderful World

02: The Andrew Sisters - Boogie Woogie Bubble Boy

03: Ray Charles - Hit the Road Jack

- a few words by the DJ

04: Miles Davis - Concierto de Aranjuez (this is a very long track, this is why only 7 are featured in this station)

05: Frank Sinatra - Chicago

- a two-liner by the DJ

06: Bud Freeman - At the Jazz Band Ball

- good bye from the DJ

07: Johnny Griffin - These Foolish Things

M

You mean 80s house, techno . If the city is early 00s you should add 80s house, techno station (just my toughts).

I don't really know if "Oasis - wonderwall" and "Bomfunk Mcs - freestyler" should be in the same station though, they are complete oposite :D And "Radiohead - Creep" is rock/grundge, i agree this song should be on any of the station's but, come on breakbeat song with rock in 1 station?

tbh considering the quality of fan made stations (Boolworf), making stations should be left to professionals

As I mentioned before in the past:

And:

And as @universetwisters said, a LOT of fan made stations just, well, suck quality wise, even if they're trying to be pirate radio most of the time it just comes out as *muffled mono mic* "Yo here's my station of my favourite songs *insert city name*"

None of this necesarily applies to Midway but it would be great to find the perfect use. This is just a list of songs that could be considered worthy according to Ash's list of rules:

Besides the fact that Judas Priest's songs are used in VC and VCS, Turbo Lover appears in Watch_Dogs 2. Rockstar does like sticking to the same artists but there are also many songs that appear in both the GTA series and rival games. Plus, this will be perfect for driving KUTT and watching things glitch out.

This song is mentioned in VCS and one of Elton John's songs does appear in Los Santos Rock Radio. Also, I like partying with Ozzy Osbourne impersonators.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r8-E5iV4kT8

Rock of Ages is mentioned in VC and one of Def Leppard's songs does appear in Los Santos Rock Radio. It's better to burn out than fade away.

About Ozzy Osbourne, most of us have heard Hellraiser on Radio X. It would be great to feature Crazy Train and find some trains to follow. If you are reading this dkluin, could you please add a transcontinental railroad when you connect all the cities? Midway is where all the railroads would go according to this map: https://i.stack.imgur.com/gV4Sw.png

Juke Box Hero. Why not? At this point, I can't deny that I am just putting songs made by the same artists as some songs in the GTA series. Foreigner's music appears in VCS.

Shout. I should really stop this this point. You get it. Tears for Fears appears in VC.

Anyways, here is an (afwul) suggestion for the custom radio stations:

In LCS, Lips 106 makes fun of the number of songs in its playlist. K-DST also makes fun of the repetition in SA. Let's have a rock station do a similar joke about "48 hours of no repeats" (assuming the radio station is over 48 real minutes in length).

While we are at it, we could also make something out of "all killer no filler".

Let's have the rock stations mention Vice City. It can either be about wild stories from there or a game show about guessing whether or not the setting was Vice City.

In real life, many rock stations use 105.7 FM. I have traveled and heard plenty of rock stations without having to touch the dial (except when losing signal).

Please try to do at least better than this phrase I put as a song transition:

"Whether you are an eagle, a hawk, or a vulture, soar with The Bird 105.7."

"For all those people in need, give them The Bird."

Since "Boolworf" has horrible radio stations, we should gather ideas about fixing it. I barely just noticed Crazy Train. Let's use that song again.

Has anybody noticed that Bullworth Rock Radio says 106.5 but has a logo that says 106.3?

I'm pretty sure that song is already featured in Bullworth's classic rock radio station (HINT: It's not Bullworth Rock Radio).

There's never going to be custom radio stations likely, it's disappointing, but theres no skilled voice actors in the GTA UG staff. They're likely going to scrap existing custom stations, and reuse the stations from GTA 3, VC, SA, VCS and LCS, unless if they get a good voice actor.

I believe the best and cheapiest way in this case would be taking radio stations from GTA 2, GTA IV and GTA V for Carcer City, Midway and other cities which have no radio stations.

It wouldn't make sense though, The 3d games, hd games and 2d games are in separate realities

at the uni where I'm at there's a TV and Film department, I can check if anyone there can pull off the roles (we have equipment to record at studio quality)
