i am new to GTA 5 online and i have the game for the PS4. Also not sure this is right place to asked my question. But do GTA 5 online accepts new players into the online game? if so why do players kill me right on the spot while i'm trying to figure out the online version?

Welcome to GTA Online is all I have to say.

 

If I were you, I'd look up tutorials online on how to force yourself into solo public lobbies so that you don't have to deal with scumbags preying on you 24/7. Since you're on PS4, try going to Network, Set Up Internet Connection, select Custom and go through with everything until you get to MTU. When you get there, set it to 750 and you should get a lobby for yourself. Online is extremely unbalanced for new players. Look up tutorials on how to get started properly as well.

 

Also, if you haven't already, please try out the singleplayer. It's not the best GTA in terms of campaign, but at the very least it'll help you get used to the controls quicker.

Yeah, what with the flying murder bikes, weaponized everything, and purchasable jets, it's a bit of a rough time to get started.

 

But your best bet, as others have said, is find (or force) a solo public session, or, if you're lucky, find some people who are willing to help new players.  Generally, the less players in a server, the less of a jerk those players are.  Generally being the key word.

 

If you were on PC I'd offer a hand.

I logged into GTA online last night and went to make a cup of coffee during the load, only to come back and find I'd already been sniped by the nearest guy for free kills / buzz kills / k/d ratio preening / etc.

 

Think of GTA online as your first year in secondary school at 11 years-of-age in the UK. It's scary, you've got five years in front of you, and big kids of 12-16 will pick on you from time-to-time, so keep a low profile, get strong and learn to survive.

Interactive menu, passive mode. The sooner you learn to go passive when learning, shopping or just walking around enjoying the views, the better.

And just like American highschool, you can defend yourself by buying guns.

Because people like to kill other people for fun. Sometimes it can be for money too.

 

OP, I suggest taking a look around the forums and find relevant topics to help with your journey, especially in the Guides and Tutorial section. YouTube can also be a valuable source of information for beginners.

 

Lastly, if you wish to find friendly players I suggest looking in the Find Lobbies and Players section, there are plenty of people willing to help.

 

Unfortunately I am going to close this topic, as it has been discussed many times previously. The topic of "why do players kill other players" is often talked about and the answer usually boils down to people arguing.
