May seem like an unimportant question, but I'm trying to figure out if the Lannahechee connects to the ocean somewhere off-map, or if it's entirely/mostly a freshwater tributary.  Suffice to say, as big as it is, it will probably feel like an inland sea of sorts....it seems to be as wide as the entirety of Flat Iron Lake all the way up to Van Horn Trading Post.  I'm sure it's representative of the Mississippi River, the great waterway that divides the country straight through the Heartland (literally), and which always played a major role in the taming of the Wild West.

It's just that, looking at where it exits the map in the upper right beyond Van Horn, and as it meanders down into Flat Iron Lake and along the coast of Mexico, are we gonna assume that most of the area that's hidden on the southern part of the map will be some form of the real world Gulf of Mexico?  Probably won't affect gameplay in the slightest, other than possibly what you can fish for (if they leave fishing in the game), but I'm just wondering how the rest of a theoretical map of RDR's America would shape up.

Not to answer my own question, but watching a walkthrough on an RDR1 mission on YT, I remembered that seagulls appear in Blackwater.   So Flat Iron Lake is definitely salt water, which would mean the Lannahechee by extension.    This is less of a river and more of a channel, an inlet, an estuary, if you will 🧐

Non Funkable Token

If they want some accuracy regarding the map of North America, the water south of Bayou should be the Atlantic ocean, the Flat Iron Lake a little gulf/sea lake, and the end of the Lannahechee river an estuary.

Sea fauna can be placed there, I hope they did. Apart from seagulls in Blackwater, which almost confirm the theory.

But on the other hand, the San Luis river goes to the wrong direction then.... They should choose between that and having a replica of St. Louis (instead of New Orleans) placed on the same latitude as the Mexican border ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I agree the San Luis River should flow INTO Flat Iron Lake, not OUT of it.   I haven't checked in RDR to see the direction of the flow....does it flow west its entire length?   Maybe there's some sort of "Continental Divide" somewhere along its route...

*Edit:   I *suppose* you could make some sense of the San Luis River if the RDR1 map shows a long gradual slope overall from east to west.   A larger output of water would flow out of the Flat Iron Lake, into the San Luis River and westward, until it empties into the Sea of Coronado.

Further to this, how did can you sail from St. Denis to Cuba? Only option is to go north upstream.. and find a connection to salt water. Also seagulls inland? Very strange
