TATARAZZ
Everytime I open up GTA V, the same thing happens. A 640x480 windowed version of the game appears in the background and the usual intro starts up, everything works fine, but as soon as i click the game tab the game freezes and crashes. I reinstalled the game twice, I verified the integrity of the game files twice and it showed up nothing, like my game is perfectly fine, i deleted social club from the documents, but still no use, the game won't stop crashing, what can i do to make the game work? UPDATE: I tried once again to open it up, it opened up in fullscreen but it stopped working instantly... UPDATE:DirectX is up to date, same as the video card and the Visual C++ Edited November 1, 2018 by TATARAZZ To give more information

Costar
I'm kind of puzzled myself as if there are mods.. A 640x480 window is very small. My monitor's native resolution is 1440x900 and I play the game in that or a 1434x900 windowed mode on this very old system. Does the game ever offer to restart in "SAFE MODE" ? Someone else said in order to force it to start in safe mode, you can create a txt file and put -safemode ..in it and save the file as commandline.txt and put it in your game folder where your gtaV.exe is and that should force the game to start in safe mode. Idk if that actually works but they also said changes you make in safe mode wouldn't be saved.. I guess IF you could get into the game in safe mode, then you can try changing the resolution, ensuring other settings are set to "normal" or "off" whatever, and the game will notify you it needs to "restart" for certain settings to take affect, then you can see IF it starts normally or not. I'm assuming you won't need to remove the commandline.txt file BEFORE it restarts but simply AFTER so that every time you run the game in the future it won't start in safe mode. I will say this, I have played the game before in safe mode after crashing it a few times and it did seem to automatically make some changes to resolution, DirectX etc.. I run the game normally though without any issues and I have the Steam version.

I have the steam version and it used to work perfectly until it started not to and to just crash everytime i would try opening it up, with or without safe mode. I kinda tried all the tutorials that seemed helpful and still nothing, i asked for help on this site and on the steam community, also in some facebook groups, but no one solved the problem...
