Create a Radio Station for the Next GTA

Recommended Posts

Posted (edited)

Just a random idea I came up with when I was bored. I think it will be fun to see you all get creative and maybe we can even help Rockstar Games get some ideas...

Before we get started, here are some rules:

  • Use real songs that have been released by the artist themselves (not leaked, or unofficial).
  • Give it a name.
  • Try to come up with at least 15 songs.
  • Try to stick to a particular genre and its similar genres.
  • You can give your radio a Host, but make sure it's a real person. (optional)
  • Try to create a logo for it. (optional)
  • Don't put embedded YouTube videos as it would slow down the website for some people, you can create a link to the song instead.

Feel free to PM me, I can help you create your logo.

I'll start.

ppwICLe.png

Name: Antidote FM

Genre: Contemporary Hip-Hop, Rap Rock, Emo Hip-Hop, Alternative Hip-Hop, Trap

DJ: Tim Westwood

Tracklist:

Note: This is the radio station I created considering GTA VI will be set in Florida/Vice City. Most artists here are from the South USA, and some are from Florida and Miami (XXXTentacion, Ski Mask The Slump God, Ghostemane, Smokepurpp).

Now, your turn!

Since the old thread is f*cked up (it takes lots of time to load each page of it), I decided to move my radio station station concepts here. They are for a game set in a fictionalized version of King County, Washington. It will take a lot of time to convert them to the forum's current formatting though.

79KJ4uo.png

BaseCast 24
Genre: acid house/ambient house/deep house/ghetto house/microhouse/minimal techno/tech house.
"Nicolas Jaar with his mix of electronica - live from Base Nightclub to your FM and Internet radios via BaseCast 24."

Type: Continuous mix.
DJ: Nicolas Jaar.

TfEc43O.png

Selected 83.9 FM

"We don't care about music you want to listen to. We only care about YOU and YOUR needs."

Genre: Player's choice.

Type: Depends on the option chosen in the game's audio settings.

Host: Jodie Styles - a 25 years old art school dropout and a faux hipster who thinks she has an extensive knowledge on pop-culture related things, while her actual knowledge is as extensive as whatever PopGun FM (Jodie claims to be interested in this station "ironically") and Rainier Jam 95.3 tend to play on the air, and whatever is currently trending on Showflicker. Outside of that, she sometimes whine and complain about living in Rainier and Luther County's society (especially about poor people and Bean Machine workers). Jodie also mentions that she used to work at SubUrban, but got fired due to her "laziness" and "lack of kindness".

Options of the station:

  • Playlist (In order) - there's no DJ, ID's or breaks for commercial/news/weather report. Just pure music played sequentially. The player can switch songs.
  • Playlist (Random) - similar to the option above, but the songs are shuffled. The player is able to skip a currently playing song (another randomly chosen song will be played).
  • Radio (Songs only) - while there's still no DJ and stuff, in this mode it's impossible to switch between the songs. They're played in random order.
  • Radio (Non-commercial) - just like above, shuffled playlist and no ability to change a song. In this mode, Selected 83.9 FM plays the DJ's lines and the station's ID's. There are no commercial/news/weather report breaks though.
  • Radio (Commercial) - songs playing in random order without an option to switch between them, all the radio aspects are present (DJ, ID's and breaks)

How the station works:

  • Consoles - songs from other in-game music radio stations can be played on Selected, after buying them at a Vinyl Countdown store.
  • PC - just like in the console version of GTA: State of Jefferson, the player can listen to the songs from in-game radio, but with an extra ability to put one's own music into a specific folder located within the user files (similar to custom music stations from previous GTA titles). One can use the MP3, WMA, WAV and FLAC files for music. If a song file features data about artist and song title written in the "Details" section of the file, info about artist and song title will be displayed on both the radio selection menu and screens of car radios with RDS.

Yeah, it really slows down the website when people embed a lot of YouTube videos. I have added a new rule in the first post.

I like your concept for the house music radio. 👍

I had this crazy idea today whilst driving home ... why can't R* open a dedicated studio which broadcasts its own LIVE radio station to GTA VI and any upcoming GTA game really.

Like a real radio station - 24 hours a day, 7 days a week live broadcasted* from R* into the game.

Of course there would still be dozens of pre-set radio stations available when not connected to the internet.

*internet connection required

Yeah, I could see that work. Would make players more connected with the creators of the game, and R* could also announce news and stream interviews on it. Pretty good idea.

I would want a Stoner Rock Station with some bands like Kyuss, Queens of the Stone Age, Orange Goblin, Monster Magnet, Dozer, Sasquatch, Roadsaw, Colour Haze, Stoned Jesus, Beaver, Unida, Slo Burn, Clutch, Lowrider, Demon Cleaner, Electric Wizard, Alabama Thunderpussy, Cathedral, Brant Bjork, Nebula, Spiritu, Seid, Souldivider, Rite, Stoner Kings, The Awesome Machine, Desert Sun, The Mushroom Riverband, Thumlock, Solace and many more. :D

The Moderator would be the Singer of Kyuss John Garcia and the Radio Station name would be Stoner FM.

It would sound a bit like this. It's a very long Playlist. :D

Spoiler

I didn't really think of a logo (let's say it would look like Route 66 logo, but with the name of the radio station instead of the name of the road),but here's my attempt:

Nomad FM

"Best of driving songs for all the truckers, bikers and travelers on the road"

genre-rock, metal, driving songs

host-I don't know, maybe they could get Axl Rose to play Tommy "The Nightmare" Smith again

track list:

AC/DC-Highway To Hell

AC/DC-Rock And Roll Train

Alice Cooper-Under My Wheels

Billy Idol-Speed

BÖC-Feel The Thunder

Bon Jovi-Wanted Dead Or Alive

Boston-Smokin'

Chuck Berry-No Particular Place To Go

Deep Purple-Highway Star

Don Felder-Heavy Metal

Eddie Money-Two Tickets To Paradise

Foghat-Drivin' Wheel

Foghat-Slow Ride

George Thorogood-Gear Jammer

Golden Earring-Radar Love

Guns N' Roses-Paradise City

Judas Priest-Heading Out To The Highway

Metallica-Fuel

Motley Crue-Kickstart My Heart

Motorhead-The Road Crew

Ozzy Osbourne-Crazy Train

Sammy Hagar-I Can't Drive 55

Saxon-Ride Like The Wind

Saxon-Wheels Of Steel

Steppenwolf-Born To Be Wild

The Doors-Roadhouse Blues

The Edgar Winter Group-Free Ride

The Rolling Stones-Route 66

Whitesnake-Here I Go Again

I know some of these songs were already used in previous GTA games, but I guess R* could get the rights to use them again.

Luckily for you, you've already joined it. This is a topic dedicated to creating your own radio stations for a Grand Theft Auto title. Read through some of the other posts and you'll quickly get to grips with what's going on.

Also @Chyea, why is your 1st station called Antidote FM? Cancer FM would be far more fitting lmao.

Just because you have other interests than mine, doesn't mean you have to be rude and immature.

Lol I thought it was an example/joke radio because XXXTentacion (or maybe I'm confusing him with someone else people made fun of which is most likely the case). My bad.
