guard3
Hello. First of all, sorry if I post this in a wrong section. Please move this if needed. So, gtamodding.com is basically the holy grail of modding info and it’s still down (!!!) after a month 2 months 5 months since the rest of the sites got working again. It feels like it’s been abandoned and I’m sure this has got many people in the modding community worried. When will it be up again? Is someone still working on it? What about the database info? Will it be merged with the new wiki or is it just gone? Link2012
So what's up guys? This is no joke, most of the modding community documentation is there. Please do look at this. Grinch_, goodidea82 and guard3
goodidea82
Is there a backup that we can download? guard3 and Grinch_
guard3
They only one available is the webarchive, but the last snapshot doesn't contain a lot of info (for the example, my GAME.DTZ documentation isn't saved there), that's why we all need the site to get back up ASAP! spaceeinstein
I've given up hope on its return so I'm moving everything over to Grand Theft Wiki. Check out my topic for more information. I plan to export the rest of the site over to Grand Theft Wiki if it ever returns. I'm also the admin of that wiki so if you have any questions about the site, you can ask me in that topic. It's been months since the rest of the website was brought back and anytime people ask about gtamodding, the staff seem to ghost. Last I heard it was because Tank took a break from this work and us doing his own thing now. Which is cool, but some clarity on the situation would be nice, we've just come out of a summer of no documentation access and people are saving their stuff on various websites/backups instead because the majority do think that gtamodding is abandoned. Let's not have this turn into another GTAGarage situation where its dragged out and then just left to die. Link2012 and Grinch_
uNi
Not hiding anything, just waiting on Tank to have to time to make the transfer, we don't have access to it.

You might try the MediaWiki API. It is still fully functional. I gave more details on spaceeinstein's thread. guard3
goodidea82
How to use the MediaWiki API that @LINK/2012 has talked about? Can this be used to create a back-up of www.gtamodding.com? Edited October 20, 2018 by goodidea82

Why would they transfer the whole database when they can just restore the current one by moving it to the new forum servers? Things like this take time and believe it or not people (even the admins) have lives outside the forum. While some clarity would be nice, it all depends on Tank to do this. Like uNI says here, the last thing to do would be to import the GTAModding database to the gta.wiki but the same needs Tank's approval/help as well. Ash_735
It's been 5 months at this point, I've stepped down off wiki staff since just having access to the merch wiki seemed pointless, I hope you guys do manage to get it sorted but let's be honest, RDR2 is out soon and the staff will be pushed to promote RDRO soon after so most of us have given up hope of seeing gta modding get any serious attention as clearly modding/hacking doesn't fit in with the core ideals anymore. grovespaz
For anyone who is still interested in this, I've posted in the other topic that I've ripped a full copy of the wiki and would like to co-operate with trustworthy community members to make sure the content doesn't get lost. Please reply in that topic to keep replies in one place.
