On the plus side, at least Panama got their first goal ever in a WC, nice bit of history for them so I'm not fuming about it. Ruthless 1st half though, exactly what the Tunisia game should have been with regards to our finishing AND referee decisions. The ref was absolutely brilliant that game, took no sh*t, made everyone know he had his eyes on people during set pieces, he had a great game. Â How this Belgium game plays out I really don't know. If you finish second you get an extra days rest, so we might see a yellow card fest in an attempt to finish 2nd via the fair play standings. And what a goal for Japan, Nagatomo's receiving was fantastic, and pushing on with the play, giving the space for Inui, really good work. Really hope this Japan team makes it to the next stage. Â Group D - Cro 6, Nig 3, Ice 1, Arg 1 Croatia is through and almost certainly 1st, Nigeria, Argentina, Iceland all have a chance to advance as 2nd. Iceland has a better goal difference than Argentina and would have than Nigeria if they draw, so they stand a good chance too. Â Group F - Mex 6, Ger 3, Swe 3, Kor 0 All 4 still have a chance and Mexico isn't safe either, plenty of options too. Mexico can win it with 9, and 3 teams can have 3 points and have goal difference decide, or we can have 3 teams with 6 points and again have goal difference or even cards decide. Â Group H - Jap 4, Sen 4, Col 3, Pol 0 Poland is out but other 3 are in for a pretty tight battle for the 2 places in the next round. Colombia plays Senegal and Japan plays Poland although nothing can for sure be said about who can beat who in those games, very tight group. Â Group B - Spa 4, Por 4, Ira 3, Mor 0 Spain is likely to be winning the group, and we'll see can Iran surprise Portugal somehow though there's a slim chance Spain might get knocked out too if they lose and the other game ends in a draw such that Iran gets a better goal difference than Spain. Â Group E - Bra 4, Swi 4, Ser 3, Cos 0 Same as the above group and group H, but expected to be least tight as Serbia don't stand a chance against Brazil, however with this played after Group F, Brazil might want to avoid Germany, and trying to get that to go their way might turn into a nightmare if they ain't careful. Â Group C - Fra 6, Den 4, Aus 1, Per 0 France is almost certainly 1st unless Denmark causes an upset, Australia also has a slim chance, but they have to beat Peru who is hungry to stay unbeaten despite elimination as well, and Aussies need a better goal difference, so it will be almost impossible. Â Group G - Eng 6, Bel 6, Pan 0, Tun 0 England and Belgium fight for 1st place with equal goal difference, if the game ends in a draw, group is won by the team with least yellow cards. With Group H done before G, both teams might want to avoid Colombia in 1/8 finals if they are through so we'll see how it plays out. Â Group A - Rus 6, Uru 6, Egy 0, Sau 0 Russia fights Uruguay for 1st spot in the group and need a draw to secure it. With Portugal and Spain in group B which connects with A, they may not be able to choose like other groups, so they might as well both go all out at it. SouthLand Posted June 25, 2018 Share Posted June 25, 2018 As a Spaniard myself i am quite pissed at my National Team. The Tiki Taka is worthless like @Eutyphro said UNLESS you have someone that shoots and tries to score. Spain struggles a lot to score because nobody shoots and they try to pass and pass until they get 1cm close to the goal and then they just push the ball in. We have quality footballers than can shoot very well; Silva, Isco, Asensio, Aspas... Let them shoot FFS! When it comes to defense Spain struggles hard. It's like they panic and the don't know what to do... The same players that won a Champions League not long ago and other that won the Spanish league, but now they panic... Great! *Facepalm*  De Gea: 3 matches = 6 goals. (I am counting Iran's goal even if it wasn't valid) I hope they put Kepa or Reina for the next match... De Gea is under pressure and not mentally stable. He needs to go to the bench or prove in training that his attitude has changed.  I hope, Spain makes a 180º change and on Sunday we see a diferent team with a better attitude and HUNGRY for tittles and victory. Â The Iran penalty was dubious. I don't remember which Portugal player conceded it, but his arm was in a natural position and there was really nothing he could have done in the situation. Would have been great to see Iran and Portugal through to the next stage. But oh well. Not very impressed with Spain, specially with their defense. And their bore of a tiki-taka has overstayed its welcome.  Today is D day for Argentina. I hope they make it through because I feel bad for their team. Banega should play every match. Pavon makes mistakes but he does have good pace and should play more. I don't think Argentina have enough quality in midfield though to beat France. They should have put Paredes in the squad honestly. Once again, resorting to his predecessor successful way after his own way failed, similar to what he did at Chile where he pretty much just steered the very successful boat that Bielsa had built. He appears to have lost the support and faith of his players. Did you guys notice it during the match? He celebrated the goals by himself while everyone else was hugging, he gave instructions that nobody even turned to try and hear, he ran quickly to the dressing room after the match was over... He'll definitely be gone once Argentina is out of the world cup. Â Today will be exciting! Serbia will be giving it all to try and get the qualification, and Switzerland will need to bring it up against Costa Rica if they intend on keeping their place. Group F also completely open, as even South Korea has a chance to go through if they beat the Germans 2-0 and the Mexicans beat the Swedes. Crazy! But unlikely. Should've found a spot for Sane and Gotze, from this point it was an error not to call them up. Lack of strikers too, Gomez is just old and Werner just bad. Â What a crazy afternoon now.
