Inttelix 111 Posted June 10, 2018 Austria is playing with Brazil right now. They have a very good team, many tall players, and they just beat Germany. Β Our problem is Neymar and his ego he never passes the ball always trying to do it all himself, let me be surprised.

Rockstar Vienna 2,479 Posted June 12, 2018 My big 4 are Spain, France, Germany and Brazil. I'd love to see France win the World Cup again after 98. But I think Spain will win it this year.

Laker23 4,796 Posted June 13, 2018 Spain have only gone and sacked Lopetegui on the eve of the World Cup. They were fuming about how late they found out about the announcement for him to join Madrid. Β Apparently the players wanted him to stay. Spain have got themselves into a right mess.
AndyGanteks 11,677 Posted June 13, 2018 (edited) Fernando Hierro took over. Quite a surprise, maybe they were worried he'll be bias towards Real/Barca players? Edited June 13, 2018 by AndyGanteks
Tchuck 3,092 Posted June 14, 2018 What a trainwreck. All he had to do was consultΒ with the federation about the offer and his plans, and for Real Madrid to not be such a sh*tshow to go ahead and announce the hiring just before the World Cup starts, including not even consulting the federation themselves. Β I guess this will make their title bid all that much more difficult. Lopetegui had been doing a pretty good job with Spain too.
AndyGanteks 11,677 Posted June 14, 2018 (edited) Expected a bit more from Saudi Arabia to be honest despite their record, as Russia was in poor form, but the hosts played really well Β Oh and https://imgur.com/a/LIyKpef Edited June 14, 2018 by AndyGanteks
Jason 21,555 Posted June 14, 2018 Not even convinced Russia played well to be honest, despite the scoreline. Saudi Arabia just looked miles away in terms of ability. Two tasty games tomorrow, Egypt vs Uruguay and obviously the big'un Spain vs Portugal. Gonna be very interesting to see how Spain react but like I think everyone has said by now, if any team in the tournament can handle a manager switch 2 days before their first game it's them. Ridiculous amount of experience in that team.
Laker23 4,796 Posted June 14, 2018 Well, I severely underestimated just how sh*t Saudi would be, good lord. Β Still think Russia will find it tough to get out of that group.

Ridiculous amount of experience in that team. Definitely. I think they barely even need a manager. That team is so stacked with technical ability and natural understanding of the game that I don't believe they need a lot of coaching. Saudi Arabia seems to completely have gone to sh*t after van Marwijk left. I'm going to miss the Spain-Portugal game, and the other games this weekend, which sucks. Tchuck 3,092 Posted June 15, 2018 Holy cow the Saudi team is bad. Russia didn't play that well, and seemed fairly disorganized at times, with players bumping into each other or not making smart runs. Part of it is due to the pressure of the first match. Part of it is just not being a good well managed team. With Egypt and UruguayΒ on the same group, it'll be very hard for them to go through. Though if they put 5 past the Saudi, I wonder how many Uruguay can do! Β Happy that I can watch Uruguay vs Egypt tonight, at a not ungodly hour! 9 pm is really good. Really wanna see Spain vs Portugal, but 3 am is tough...
SouthLand 1,620 Posted June 15, 2018 I don't like to play against Portugal because i don't like against my brothers. I hope we win today, and I wish Portugal makes it as far as they can. If Spain gets eliminated, i am cheering for Portugal.
Mexicola9302 1,718 Posted June 15, 2018 (edited) Saudi-Arabia was so bad,Β maybe they didn't eat or drink anything all day, because of Ramadan. Such a weird culture. The muslims are only allowed to eat and drink after sunset, during Ramadan. The 14th June was the last day of Ramadan this year. AndyGanteks 11,677 Posted June 15, 2018 (edited) Feel bad a bit for Egypt losing that way, and now Morrocco got the same, although the game with Iran was actually interesting until the last 20 minutes, as opposed to the other where they both played it safe. Jason 21,555 Posted June 15, 2018 Egypt looked a bit toothless, obviously missing Salah a lot butΒ they had no presence up front either. Godin and Giminez were brilliant and if Suarez was anywhere near on form I think it'd have been a comfortably two or three nil game. Morroco and Iran went about as expected, great result for Iran though, they put in a defensive shift. Now for the proper WC opener.

SouthLand 1,620 Posted June 15, 2018 First of all, congratulations to the Portuguese squad for playing an outstanding game. We can see that your coach and his staff did their homework and that's why you where solid in defense, midfield and attack. I also want to point out that Spain started like sh*t but we managed to play well after the penalty. Diego Costa, Isco, Nacho, Thiago... All of them where 10/10. I am proud that we did a good game.Β Β The only thing i didn't like at all was De Gea. I mean, It's hard to stop a penalty and especially if Cristiano Ronaldo is the one taking it, so no bid deal on the first goal. The secong goal was Karius 2.0... Wtf was that? Lame. Third goal was even more lame, i mean at least make an effort to stop the ball from going in! Don't just stand there FFS! Β Anyways, a draw is better than losing. Let's hope we work on our weak spots and we can make a good WC or even win it.
Jason 21,555 Posted June 15, 2018 Isn't the first time I've seen De Gea rooted from a FK, it's happened occasionally for United but it's always when it's a genuinely great free kick. The ball does curve wickedly around the wall as well, he'll have been completely blindsided by it I bet.
Laker23 4,796 Posted June 15, 2018 IncredibleΒ game. Β De Gea looks lost when he plays for Spain at times. So glad he got that out of his system for us.
Crokey 10,266 Posted June 15, 2018 That Portugal v Spain match was one the best I've seen at a World Cup in decades, open, free flowing, cracking goals... especially Nacho's, that curve... hhnnggg.
Jason 21,555 Posted June 15, 2018 The angle from behind the goal shows just how perfectly Nacho hit that shot, hit it on the rise from the bounce, across his body with zero lift and a perfect amount of curve. Bet even Ronaldo could try that a hundred times and not hit it better.
