But the other nearest retailer is an hour and half away, so it doesn't make that much of a difference, I suppose...

Oof you could of preordered the Ultimate on PSN or Xbox Live and been able to preload and play midnight EST. Amazon is only selling you a retail code which could mean no preload and not being able to play until sometime on the 26th.
1898 2,501
Great, I thought of asking here before ordering but lesson learned. The order says available at midnight but not when the code will arrive. Edited July 19, 2018 by 1898

1898 2,501
I considered that but I'll just go with it. Pretty sure I'll at least get a code by midnight. Edited July 19, 2018 by 1898

Der Süden 1,596
I don't know yet if the German version will be censored. If so then I will pre-order from Austria (gamesonly.at) where the German speaking version will be uncut.
pjw 1,145
On Amazon, a lot of games have the message "want it delivered the day it comes out?" displayed next to them, meaning they are eligible for release day delivery. This is not the case for Red Dead Redemption 2 at the moment, which is irritating as the likes of Days Gone and The Last of Us 2, games which release months after RDR2, have this option. I'm hoping closer to release day more delivery options will be made available, don't think it's likely though. Because of this I'm reconsidering preordering from Amazon. Might go with R* warehouse. Does anyone have experience ordering from the R* warehouse? How are they, do they deliver on time? Any other recommendations?

Arrived to my house on the day of release. So I assume the warehouse is pretty reliable for that.
Mince 102
I am wondering where to pre-order from. The last game I got on release day was Portal 2 in 2011 (from Amazon). I know a lot has changed since then like others mentioned. I'd be interested in picking up just the standard edition at midnight, does anyone know where that would be available in the US? I could probably wait for same day shipping if Rockstar's Warehouse offers it, but otherwise I would just go to a store. Would I be able to show up at Walmart or Gamestop at midnight and wait in line for it? On 7/16/2018 at 9:21 AM, Dr.Rosenthal said: Digital download from PS Store here. Because a) I'll get it at midnight, compared to mid-day 26th which would be the case with a physical copy b) I couldn't pre-order the Special Edition from my local game store when I wanted to purchase the pre-order. The con is that I won't get a physical map, which I've gotten for every previous R* title to date, so that's kind of a bummer. But mostly it just sits in the case anyway since practically it's more convenient to use the in-game map ever since those got introduced to R*'s games. Based on the preorder bonus description, I am wondering if the standard edition would even come with a map. Does anybody know? I'm a bit of a dinosaur, having been on PC gaming for several years, but I know console games don't have manuals anymore. Does that apply to Rockstar's traditional folding maps as well? From the Rockstar website: "DIGITAL PRE-ORDER BONUSES In addition to the War Horse and Outlaw Survival Kit mentioned above, digital pre-orders on the PlayStation Store and Xbox Store will also receive these added rewards: Cash Bonus for Red Dead Redemption 2 Story Mode: The Van der Linde gang is always looking for ways to make more money and bring in new supplies. This in-game cash bonus will give Arthur Morgan enough to buy a weapon, some food, a handful of useful items and ammunition. Treasure Map: Secret buried treasure can be found throughout the world of Red Dead Redemption 2. This exclusive Treasure Map for Story Mode will give Arthur a head start on the hunt for hidden riches. Must pre-order by July 31, 2018." Also the printed map is a collector's box exclusive: "Treasure Map: Printed on durable, unrippable paper, this exclusive treasure map reveals the location of some buried treasure that may start Arthur on a search for more riches hidden throughout the world of Red Dead Redemption 2." Clancy the Bandito 2,054
I bought it from the rockstar warehouse. I have high hopes that it will deliver to my house on that day or hopefully a day before.
infectedG636 591
I've preordered at my local GameStop. I think if I remembered I preordered the game in January 2017 then upgraded to the Ultimate Edition a couple months ago. Also, I preordered the Book guide on the R* website which I'm a little bit worried because they haven't charged me yet. It's my first time ordering something from the R* warehouse. Is that normal? Frantz Fuchs 1,197
Wherever is cheapest. Side note, is it just me or is this expensive for some reason? Normally new games are £40 or £45 max. I can't find it for less than £50 anywhere.
Rockstar Vienna 2,470
I pre-ordered at GameStop nearby. Release day is a holiday here in Austria. So if I pre-order from an online retailer i might be unlucky with the delivery and I'd have to wait till Monday. Could not handle that weekend without RDR!
Yelda 860
I pre-ordered a Ultimate Edition at GameStop. First time that I preorder a game. So far it has always been enough for me to drive to the local electronic store and just buy it But this time it´s different ^^ i can´t wait to hold this game in my hand ... I think there is no MidnightRelease here in Germany? But it's ok for me, if I can play it at midday. Edited July 31, 2018 by Yelda

I’ve never used them before but read that they deliver same day and some say they’ve received it before release date. I’ve pre ordered the digital special edition. First time pre ordering a game as well. I want to just wake up Friday morning (got the day off) and be able to start it up.
pjw 1,145
Has anyone in the UK used ShopTo before? They're the only retailer I can find other than GAME and Amazon than are selling the special edition. They also have a guarantee that if they fail to deliver a pre-ordered game on or before release day they will give you a £5 voucher.

Anyone ever preordered a special edition before? If I were to pre-order, I would do it from the GTA Online interface. I'm with you on that one 😁 digital games are so common nowadays I feel like physical copies have a certain feel to it. The wait is over you hold the game in your hands and then get to admire the case and what not while you install the game disc. I think especially for R* themselves, it's always worth getting the physical I'm gonna go to the midnight release and dress like a cowboy lol
