Out of the 5 main areas on the map we know about which are you looking forward to exploring most?

1 West Elizabeth

2 The Heartlands

3 Roanoke Ridge

4 The Grizzlies

Until the game comes out and I've played it for awhile, probably West Elizabeth. New.... but not new... if you know what I mean

Since Roanoke/Shenandoah Valley VA. is my neck of the woods, I'm anxious to see if that's look and terrain they're going for with Roanoke Ridge.

I'd like to see/know more about each region before I can really know for sure.   But I've got a feeling a good portion of the eastern map represents my own neck of the woods:   the Dirty South.   There's no question now that Bayou Noir and St. Denis represent Louisiana and N'Awlins, but "Scarlett Meadows, Roanoke Ridge, Cumberland Forest, Bluegill Marsh" are suggestive of Southern states.

Roanoke Ridge:  the mid-Atlantic?  There's a namesake Roanoke in Virginia; and if you look further north and east -- Brandywine, Annesburg, Van Horn -- sound vaguely like New England/New York or Pennsylvania names. Tallulah Jetty?  A Cherokee word, still used for a small town in North Georgia.  Got a feeling this is the older, more "civilized" America...the original Thirteen Colonies.  Landed gentry.  Lots of rich folks to rob.

Cumberland Forest:   Kentucky, West Virginia, Ohio, Tennessee.  The Cumberland Gap was made famous by Boone at the border to KY, VA and TN....much of central Tennessee is dominated by the Cumberland Plateau.  I dunno, seems pretty suggestive of a vaguely Appalachian countryside to me.  Maybe even the Ozarks of Missouri and Arkansas.

Bluegill Marsh:   The Everglades?  Gulf Coast?  South Atlantic?  Maybe the salt marshes of Maryland, the Carolinas, Georgia, and Florida, around Savannah, Charleston, Chesapeake, the Outer Banks? Doesn't look heavily populated, or particularly large.  Sounds like good fishing and hunting there, but I'm not sure what else there is to explore there....not even any caravans or hideouts to set up base camp.

Bayou Noir ("Nwa"):   aka Lemoyne -- without a doubt, Louisiana; anchored by St. Denis, the counterpart of New Orleans.  Probably a very dangerous place.

Scarlett Meadows:   the Deep South.  Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi....cotton country.  The name is most certainly evocative of the heroine of "Gone With The Wind."

New Hanover/The Heartlands:  gotta be the central Plains.  Kansas, Nebraska, Missouri, Oklahoma...."Larned Sod" is most likely smack dab in the middle of Kansas.  There was a major fort, Larned, in KS during the Indian Wars, and "sod" likely refers to the "sodbusters" of KS and NB, settlers who had no trees for wood, and so built dirt and grass shacks literally out of the sod of the Great Plains.   Heartland Oil Fields, Cornwall Kerosene & Tar likely indicative of places like Oklahoma and east Texas.

The Grizzlies:  certainly represent the Rockies.  Colorado, Montana, Idaho.  High country.  Snow country.

Big Valley:   kinda iffy on what this represents, but I'd guess the High Plains.  Wyoming, Nevada, the flat parts of Montana.

West Elizabeth:  probably has no real counterpart state in the USA, but bear with me. Great Plains was supposed to give the feel of the American namesake, but New Hanover and Big Valley probably now do a better job of conveying the vast empty spaces. Tall Trees was probably meant to stand for the Rockies in RDR1, but the Grizzlies most definitely have that covered in RDR2.  If anything, I'd say West Elizabeth would now simulate the Dakotas, more or less -- Great Plains representing the flatlands, and Tall Trees being more like the Black Hills.   Plus, there's a Dakota River that now starts just north of West Elizabeth and flows into the Grizzly Mountains.

I don't get into a game months before it comes out so I barely know a thing about the game. Let me see once the game is out.

I like boreal forest so if there's one then that could be my favorite place. If there's a town in it even better. In RDR I enjoyed Tall Trees and Amadillo the most.

An area similar to Tall trees unless they have a wooded mountain area. I want to get immersed in hunting.

The bayou, I can't wait to sh*t myself wondering if a crocodile is about to chew on my limbs.

Im looking forward to explore that area in the trailer where a bear attacks, some shallow lake/river. Im thinking that must be around some forest, maybe a waterfall too. Hope that I’ll be able to set camp around that place and enjoy the view between hunts.

I dunno why but when I think about this place I always remember the Huckleberry Finn book I read some years ago. Nice little story to read while waiting for RDR2, if anyones interested. I didnt have the chance to read Tow Sawyer yet, tho, unfortunately. But it must be just as nice to read as Huck.

Mountains would be my choice.  So probably The Grizzlies then. I like solitude and wilderness.

Dunno quite yet, but the first thing I'll do when I get full control of Arthur is climb Nekoti Rock and use that glorious draw distance to check what New Austin and Nuevo Paraiso look like, even if they aren't accessible.

I'm most excited for the variation, all the different biomes to explore with their own vegetation and wildlife, and the contrast between nature, civilisation and the huge city Saint Denis. I'm not sure if I have ever seen a game with such a varied world, and we all know how good Rockstar usually creates them as well. My favorite area is probably the area around the huge river, where the bear attacks in the trailer. I'm not exactly sure in which part of the map that is though.

Personally, I’m looking forward to Scarlett meadows and the bayou, simply because that’s my own neck of the woods “the dirty south”. Wanna see some real Faulkner characters in Scarlett meadows!
