It seems to happen to an extraordinary degree in India, and usually at a wedding or some other communal occasion. Probably a combination of India's enormous population and a dash of developing world chicanery.

does this mean there is a higher chance for a bottle of vodka can have fake alcohol?

Yes, it does. Though it does depend largely on where you are. I'm pretty sure I've had bootleg vodka here in the UK at least once, but I reckon your chances are much higher in the developing world.

Jeepers...you guys are actually making me feel differently about our strict alchohol controls here.   Normally we like to bitch about our state controlled beer, wine, alcohol, here but at least we know it wont be poisoned.

Be on the look out for the scent of nail varnish. Most liquor has a distinct smell, but it usually doesn't smell like that. If you're able, check the bottle is factory sealed. In addition, by law all bottles should have a duty stamp to verify authenticity. If the bottle doesn't have one, it's illegal, but that doesn't necessarily mean it has been botched or tampered with. Be wary of cheap deals, particularly in bars, and never buy your alcohol from street vendors. Stick to stores, like Migros or Kipa.

Be aware of the symptoms too. These include (but are not limited to):

  • Dry mouth
  • Hallucinations
  • Vomiting/nausea
  • Nosebleeds
  • Raised temperature/sweating

It sounds like a minefield, but if you stick to legitimate stores and know what to look for, you should be absolutely fine.

can’t do that now lol.

also from what i heard, it is a matter of bad luck to get blind from fake alcohol and a lot of people do not get blind even though they drink it

That sounds like normal drunkeness and hangovers to me.

I suppose so - if you're new to drinking alcohol and how it feels, it can be hard to differentiate what is normal (or expected) and what is an indication that you're sippin' some fine moon juice. Bottom line is if you don't feel at all good about what you're drinking, stop and move on to water or a soft alternative. There's no shame in putting any drink down for any reason and leaving it. I've left entire drinks before now because I knew my limit. It's wasteful yes, but I'd rather pay for a drink and waste it than drink it and make myself poorly.

If you're getting hallucinations and nosebleeds from drinking, I'd probably advise you stop.

Turkey has a huge counterfeit culture, at least from what I viewed when I was there. Even the legit-looking bricks and mortar stores sold copied and counterfeit items. And the counterfeit items I came across were actually some of the best quality I've come across.

I'm not sure how much at risk you'll be at risk for counterfeit Whiskey. If you are thinking of buying it in a bottle, you can do the shake test as displayed in the video below.

No you can ask as many as you want as long as your not spamming the board which you’re not you’ll get the hint as people will simply ignore your question while answering those of people posting after you

Question How old are you anyways? and why are you so interested in drinking and it HAS to be now?

tbh drinking isn’t all that it’s cracked up to be

where do you plan to get the booze from? A local contact you’ve met through a friend or are you just going to “Go Trillin’”

if it’s the contact than great but if you’re just gonna walk the street looking for a supplier don’t

Get yourself some established contacts first via people you know/can trust

I mean even regardless a bootlegger is going to try his best to sell you a decent product because as any good drug dealer knows if you get your customer extremely sick or kill them words gonna get out and their goes their income and in the case of serious bodily injury and/or death their freedom but seeking out a total stranger for something you’re trying for the very first time that you don’t know the smells and taste of is bad.

Thats kind of like me accepting a plate of food from strangers I’ve never met before just walking down the street now while the chances of the mashed potatoes being laced with cyanide extremely low there is still that chance whether accidental or during the bottling process

Buuuuuut I’m starting to wonder if it’s even a good idea for you to even bother with the way you’ve worked yourself up into a paranoias maybe just take it easy this weekend call some LOCAL contacts and find out from them about the local liquor scene since all we can do is speculate that and give you worse case scenarios

The ONLY good case scenario is you going to a Bar/Club/Hotel that’s been in business for more than a few years and in good standing with the liquor license agencies

Her on the side of caution my friend

Fun Fact: During the U.S Prohibition in attempt to curb the use of rubbing and other industry alcohol in speakeasy the U.S Govt added a lethal additive to the batches and additive called Wood Alcohol to the manufacturing process of rubbing and other industry alcohol but never though to put out a warning.

So when the distillery we’re distilling the alcohol they didn’t know about the lethal additive and after finishing their usual distillery they shipped the Wood Grain laced alcohol all over and people started dropping like flies from many ailments including paralysis and permanent blindness but many of them just dropped dead some right where they stood

The U.S Government never officially acknowledged any wrongdoing they just removed the wood alcohol from the industry alcohol process)

ahh the story of my life, i see everything as something dengerous untill i do them for the 5000th time and realise if no crap happened to this time, no crap will ever happen. even if it does, what’s the deal anyway, there is a big danger of getting killed each time we leave our houses. what to do? stay in your bed till you die?

i believe it’s pretty normal to be interested in things if you’re as young as me.

Is it normal for my eyes to mist up in cold weather? I tried googling it but it only gives me results for wearing contact lenses or glasses, neither of which I use, just my nude eyes. My sight goes all blurry and blinking doesn't help but it does go back to normal when I get indoors and somewhere warmer.

My guess is air humidity. Colder (especially frosty) weather causes less surface water to evaporate, hence making the air dryer. Dryer air will make your knuckles and lips crack and chap due to dermatological dehydration, while your eyes will dry out, giving you a visual blur and maybe even a sensation of mild eye irritation.

Indoor facilities are more humid, as surface water from sinks, plants, your bathroom and even people's breath will remain vaporized due to the cozy temperatures. Same applies for warmer weather, where higher temperatures evaporate bodies of water constantly, making the air seem thick to breath but less stressful to the eyes and skin.

My eyes don't feel dry, in fact they feel more wet.

Perhaps your eyes are responding to the drier air by moistening them to prevent them dehydrating. I know this myself, where I can shed tears in frosty mornings, then slowly adapting my eyes to the climate. If you have ever driven a moped or motorcycle with the helmet visor up, you'll be crying and your nose will likely be running, even in the Summer.

I'm really guessing tbh. If the problem persists into the season or bothers you too much, try and consult your doctor about it. Perhaps some over-the-counter or prescription eye drops will do fine.

I do find it's harder to see in bitingly cold weather, but I just assumed it was the water in my eyeballs struggling with the temperature. This isn't really an answer, but I've just imagined my eyeballs slowly freezing into solid balls and now I have to go back to bed immediately.

That is a fear of mine too, yes.

i couldn’t drink the second can of beer, i was like my body didn’t want it, it wanted to puke. this one was even lighter than what i drank the last week. any real reason behind this?

Your body might just not react very well to beer. I know I personally don't. As I grew older, I found it was harder for my body to flush alcohol, but in particular beer. I had some tests done recently and it turns out I have Gilbert's syndrome and mild liver damage. This has led to me not being able to breakdown alcohol properly. Even without this condition, some people don't breakdown alcohol very well in one form or another. Some people can put away 10 or 11 beers without thinking twice. Some people can polish off bottles of wine like it's nothing. If you're not a seasoned drinker, it's not unusual to have your body reject it.

The important thing is not to push it. You did the right thing by stopping. Maybe drinking alcohol just isn't for you, at least not yet.

Like Rhoda said that was your body way of telling you I don’t like beer it could’ve even been the ingredients in the beer itself since it seems you didn’t have issue last weekend

Not everybody body can handle beer but do just fine with liquor, I personally dislike the taste/smell of beer but do fine with liquors as long as I can’t smell said liquor so I drink strong masking drinks like Sex On The Beach basically anything that’s fruity and covers up the liquor smell.

For some reason if I smell the liquor I get sick to my stomach and start gagging and if I had drank or eaten anything shortly before it usually came back up.

So like everyone else when they first start drinking you’ll just need to find what you can handle and what suits you best...

Quedtion.... Are these branded beers or are they home brewed (without brands)
