Color filters.  Pretty useful when stealing images for websites.  You know...keep a consistent color palette.

Ooh for like the background of the picture?

I couldn't really tell what it was doing as nothing changed when I selected a few colors but then again I was just looking at Coast Guard helicopters

Each image has a predominant color, if you press one of the blocks google images will show only photos with that main color. Like if you choose green you will see forests and mountains.

You've made it this far. So far you've beaten your personal best. When I have off days, and admittedly they are more often than my "on" days, I take stock in the little things that I enjoy. I don't go overboard in trying to pick myself up because often this won't work and I'll feel irritated that attempts like this have failed. It's almost as if I don't want them to work, or I won't believe that they'll work. Sometimes in certain moods there's nothing you can do and that's absolutely fine too. I think to myself that I'll wake up differently tomorrow and that I'll try again. I do little things that I can feel proud of. I take a shower, I listen to an album I've not heard in years, I'll read a magazine or a bit of a book. Anything that serves as a distraction but at the same time gives you that little hit of dopamine.

Incidentally, I learned of an adage that I use regularly and spout whenever possible - if I can fix it, it isn't a problem. If I can't fix it, it still isn't a problem because it doesn't matter what I do, I can't change it. That might sound a little pessimistic, but it keeps me from worrying about things I'm powerless to alter.

Does anybody else here use reverse psychology in order to fall asleep?

I don't know when it started but I basically have to trick my mind, I'll try really hard to stay awake in pitch black dark and silence and I end up drifting away, but if I close my eyes and try to sleep I just can't do it. I think when I try too hard it just makes it worse.

Why is making all these Let's Play videos not punished by the copyright holder? Does the platforms have some agreement with the developers? I don't get this. The terms of video games say "no public shows etc.", this third party things you know.

It's all a bit wishy washy. The short of it is people will justify that Let's Plays fall under "fair use", which is essentially the copying of copyrighted material for limited purposes, such as commenting on, criticising, or parodying the work. Whilst this isn't technically correct when you consider what an LP actually is, there are four major points set out by Stanford acting as a test:

  • The purpose and character of your use
  • The nature of the copyright work
  • The amount and substantiality of the portion taken
  • The effect of the use upon the potential market

That last point is the key here - as it stands, LPs could be considered as advertising. Some developers are more lenient than others. Nintendo for example are notorious for take downs of their work if it so much as toes the lines set out above. The term "fair use" is what's known as an affirmative defence - it's holding its hands up and saying "yeah, this is infringement but this is fair use for X, Y and Z reasons". Considering the massive amounts of series on YouTube alone (not factoring in other sites like Twitch which work a little differently) I think even the most defensive of companies would have a hard time taking down every little scrap of content when its essentially free advertising. I'm glossing over a heavy portion of legal mumbo jumbo and just saying "it's fair use bro" isn't going to keep you out of court. You'll notice I used Nintendo as an example but there are plenty of LPs featuring popular Mario games all over YouTube. On the other hand, Minecraft is a great example of the opposite end of the spectrum. They outline this in their terms of use. The game has experienced another surge in popularity thanks to a wave of highly influential YouTubers picking up their tools. The lines blur and I'm by no means an expert, I'm just covering what I understand.

TL;DR? It's free advertising and companies usually see it as such.

Thanks for this answer Rhoda. Your answer contains all the aspects I was already thinking about.

It is basically pure economy: If it's profitable for the developers (better: the copyright holder), they give a green light. And if not, your videos will disappear. That simple.

Here you can see the big difference between uploading a movie or a LP: Uploading a movie does not have any profitable advertising effect once you've downloaded it.

But watching a game is a different experience. You still need to buy it to become interactive. Well, a pirated game is handled the same way as a movie but this LPs are the grey zone.

And, like you said, in todays times it is nearly impossible to avoid any kind of infringement, even if it is considered officially as infringement.

What happens to your brain when you walk in somewhere about to do something and you forget it?

It's almost like when I'm playing The Sims and I cancel my Sim's automatic action.

There's a recent study that suggests the doorway acts as an event boundary. In your brain, this separates moments of activity. It's actually called the "doorway effect".

for the first time i’m planning to drink some alcohol and want to start with beer because of it’s being soft. the thing is, i heard fake alcohol can make you blind, is it true even for beers? because there is no way i can understand if it’s fake alcohol or not. people sell these fake things everywhere

Properly-produced alcohol will not make you go blind when consumed in moderate quantities.

The risk of blindness comes from additions of other (non-ethanol) alcohol such as methanol and isopropanol. It happens everywhere to some degree, but is more common with neutral spirits (like vodka) and in the developing world, than it is in the West.

Chances are, you'd be fine.

I second that.

Beer as your first dip into alcohol?  It can take some time to understand and enjoy the flavor of beer.  Maybe try one of the sweeter(girly) style of drinks.   Some of the basic old fashioned mix drinks are nice with a bonus of being able to control the amount of alcohol.  A rum and Coke...and you can start with a small amount of rum.  Vodka and cranberry...control the amount of vodka. The list goes on and on.

If you stick to a store bought sealed can or bottle, you should be alright. It's more trouble than it's worth tainting those, and if you're drinking with people you trust (something I can't recommend enough) you'll be set. I know some people like to rag on light beers, but most of the time these people are purists. There's nothing wrong with a nice, light beer. They often have lower percentage of alcohol by volume and, as the name implies, aren't too heavy on the palete. They're designed to be easy drinks, for better or for worse.

Good call on the spirits. Controlled measures with a good mixer taste heavenly. My problem is I've developed quite the fondness for bourbon. No coke, no ice, nothing. Nice and neat.

I started with beer. Coors Light to be exact and I've liked it since. I also like Blue Moon, Corona, Coors Banquet, Newcastle and Amber Bock. I was never one for fruity drinks, to me they're just a nasty headache waiting to happen but I will occasionally fix myself a screwdriver or mix vodka and 7 up.
