I want to know how shrugging your shoulders came to mean "I don't know."

Or shaking or nodding your head to say "yes" or "no".

Those things always baffle me more than actual words, lol.

Also, another thing, the older games like GTA III and GTA VC barely used bad language in its dialogues and scripts but it soon took a turn in GTA SA. Were swear words unpopular those days or was it not a thing with Dan to use swear words in his story?

Many English curse words have foreign origin. The word "f*ck" is thought to have come from the German word "fricken" which means "to strike or hit something". As for the scripts of Grand Theft Auto games, it may have something to do with demographic and how well they'll sell compared to controversy. At the time, III was hugely controversial regardless of language. This was their first foray into 3D gaming and was not without backlash. As reputation grew, they could afford to be more vulgar.

Kinda depends on your skin colour tbh. If you white or have a slight tan I'd say blue for sure. It looks lively.

My guess is that since holding your hands up was a sign of surrender, as in 'I give up', it probably later developed into just a shrugging of the shoulders, rather than holding your arms up as well. That roughly translates into 'I don't know'.

 

Same for nodding, I guess. It probably comes from bowing, which is a sign of acknowledgement. I still bow or nod my head quickly in acknowledgement to people I meet as a way of greeting them. The acknowledgement probably developed into a simple 'yes'. Not sure about shaking the head, though. If I had to guess, maybe it was a way of turning the head away in disapproval, but then later developed into a shaking of the head back and forth.

 

A lot of gestures also depend on the culture. Is it true that Germans use their thumb to indicate numbers 1 through 4?

One = index finger

Two = index and middle fingers

Three = index, middle and thumb

Four = all except thumb

Not to detract about the backlash, but most of it was constructed to develop backlash, thanks to Max Clifford. Rockstar courted controversy as they know controversy sells and gets free publication space.

Cool, you guys are still talking about hair color. I've been contemplating getting pink highlights (or some other bright, fun color--maybe a light purple) before I get too old. Well, I probably am too old but all the new grads at work who are in their early 20s think I'm their age so I guess I want to do it before I look too old. Hahah. It has to be kind of subtle and not too loud so I don't get fired from my job. This is kind of what I imagine mine would look like except longer:

Any of you guys use Kodi/XBMC and have any addons you can recommend? I've set it up before on sh*tty android boxes but I'm working on a little media PC that I'm gonna put Kodi on connect to my TV and managing Kodi from a PC is alot easier so if anyone can recommend any addons etc that'd be appreciated.
