The only time I tend to question the design of something is when it looks different to the point it performs differently, and then you wonder what in blazes took so long. When the basketball "hoop" was invented (literally then a basket) it wasn't designed with a hole in the bottom initially. It took a few goes for them to realise how annoying it was to retrieve the ball so they cut a hole in the bottom. People also used to tie themselves to their beds because they were scared of floating off whilst they slept as well though, so sometimes being a moron restricts a good design.

Along those lines it still baffles me as to why people recognize people's sneezes. The idea of one's soul leaving the body thus leaving you vulnerable to demonic possession has pretty much been dispelled.

 

So why do people feel the need to yell "god bless you" at someone who sneezes. And even worse they feel pride in being the first to bless the sneezer.

I stopped blessing sneezes and started saying "nice one" instead. The puzzled look you get is a better payoff.

They do, in isolation, bring some relief and good feelings. But that might be moire from the need to sneeze than the actual sneeze. God knows, I never hold them in.

Both do release endorphins in your body which is what makes you feel good. Sneezing in much lower levels however, so you could probably call them mini orgasms.
