I've been downloading files almost all my life and I've never lost files after a legitimate download.

Maybe you had viruses or your hard drive was busted.

Anyway, I still prefer physical copies for many reasons:

1. I prefer playing games on their respective platforms. GTA:SA? PS2 or PC. Skyrim? PS3 or PC. Only exception is PlayStation Doom because finding a physical PS1 copy nowadays in stores is impossible and the game isn't available on PS Store so I use the Total Conversion version on PC.
2. Even if I want a digital copy (PS3), I must visit the PS Store.... and stupid Sony is too smart to add my country in the Account Creation thing, forcing me to select something else (I selected Lebanon), only to find out that I can't visit the PS Store. Being unable to use the Store = can't buy digital games.
3. Physical copes are.... well, "safer" for the lack of a better word. What if you had a 12GB PS3 and upgraded to 500GB? You'll need to 'format' the PS3. Which means losing everything and that did happen to me before.

Well first off, you should only have to format the new HDD, so there wouldn't be anything to lose on that one. And secondly, if you back-up your files, like anyone should do when formatting/upgrading drives, you shouldn't lose anything either.

That's the problem however, I couldn't. Obviously a 8 GB USB won't work, I already have a 800+ GB USB but my PS3 refused to 'accept' it, and I can't upload anything to PS+ because I don't have it.

I don't think wireless necessarily says much but no not really. The university I'm currently at has ~100Mbps up/down and one I went to before had 600-700Mbps up/down.
