The profile picture is the about me dealie...but I noticed VC MafiaBoss edited up his post to clarify with 'avatar'.

 

I've seen a lot of broken avatars lately...not sure if something is up with the forums(haven't bothered to check around ). VC boss guy - maybe try hosting your image on an image hosting site and use the URL method for your avatar.

You need to use the one with the image extension.

 

I tried it - it works.

Tor moves your traffic across different servers, and encrypts that traffic so it isn't traced back to you.

 

Anyone who tries would see traffic coming from random nodes on the Tor network, rather than your computer.

Why not just use a proxy?

Because In Tor, the user (you) chooses a random path through several nodes for its data. The first node in the path knows your IP address, but not what you send or where. The last node (exit node) knows the target server address and sees the data (unless SSL is used, of course), but not your IP address. Every node in the path knows only the addresses of the previous and the next nodes in the path.

 

The exit node has no idea where the data originates from, this is the entire point of Tor. The key to Tor is the multiple layers of encryption the data goes through as it travels through the Tor network.

 

Using a proxy on the other hand, involves a direct connection between your machine and the proxy server. Compromising a proxy can pretty quickly reveal who is connected to it.

Has anyone worked night shift only for a reasonably long period of time? What was it like to you?

 

I have an opportunity to work at night only at my current job and there are certain benefits. I'm also a night owl basically but I am worried about long-term effects and stuff. I'm only going to work this way for six months or a year if I accept the offer but I don't know what to say. I don't want to feel like I'm tired all the time and not be able to get enough sleep. It sounds like the recipe for a disaster but it could work for me given the fact that I am a bit more productive at night than the average person.

 

I know this has already been answered a bunch of times, but just in case this relates to you at all. I'm an insomniac. Have been since around high school, though back then it started out as considering myself a "night owl" or just "not a morning person." As I got older it became more pronounced, and it became obvious it was more of a medical condition than just some mild/random aspect of my personality.

 

It normally takes me around three hours to stop being all groggy, foggy headed, and cranky, unless I chug down a ton of coffee when I get up. Without the coffee I spend most of every day feeling like I never slept at all, then when it is time to go to sleep I can't. It is basically this awesome combination of never being able to sleep, and never feeling well rested no matter how much sleep I get. Not to mention I get pretty bad migraines, and too much sleep seems to result in me waking up with a day long headache. I once worked a night shift, it was basically 4pm to 1am, but with a 45 minute drive tacked onto each end. The pay was better, around time and a half plus a 10% differential. That said, I'd have worked those hours for less money if they'd needed me to for longer. I have never been as alert and awake on a daily basis as I was when working those hours, not before nor since. No idea why, but it took me less time to become "fully awake" when working those hours. I was also more alert during the day, for much longer into my day, without any coffee or other stimulants.

 

Obviously your mileage will vary. Scientifically speaking most people (normal people with no problems sleeping for example) might actually feel the exact opposite. Crappy (at least until acclimating, assuming you do) because of circadian rhythm, light's effect on melatonin, cortisol, body temp, etc., etc. I personally loved it. That said, the only other people in the building who worked the same hours were constantly complaining about it. I can't tell you if it actually bothered them though, or if it was just the usual kind of "let's bond over complaining about work" sh*t.

I was thinking about selling my PS3 at gamestop, it is a 120 GB PS3 from 2009. I have had it for a long time and now a days it collects dust, I only use it now and then for YouTube. I was wondering if I should sell it and Advanced Warfare at gamestop, and help my mom pay for a PS4 when she gets her check, or should I just retire my PS3 and put it in storage.

It may not even be worth selling as gamestop is only offering $60 for a 120GB PS3 and with COD:AW you'll be lucky to get $70-75 for everything.

Why is Firefox sh*t now? I can't click on anything anymore. Webpages don't load correctly. When I try to change this websites theme, it scrolls me back to the top. When I click the "Spoiler" thing, nothing happens. I can't comment on YouTube anymore, or check my notifications, because it tells me to sign into Google Plus even though I am signed into to google...what is going on with Firefox? I am on Windows 10, and this has been happening on Windows 8 as well. I can't sign into Dropbox because when I click sign in, nothing happens. All the issues I mentioned above are no problems in Google Chrome.
