So apparently if you send this "effective.

Send that to someone with an iPhone it turns their phone off" it will turn their iPhone but how does it do that? Is it like a command or something?

That sounds like a lie.

Reddit seems to confirm this doesn't work.

Im pretty sure I saw that printed on a banner behind a man wearing a balaclava and waving a machete around in an ISIS video

How many people here are familiar with Source Filmmaker? I'm thinking about getting into it but I dunno if it's one of those things you can pick up and run with or if there's oodles and oodles of crazy learning to do. If the latter, lucky there seems to be a lot documented.

Can anyone recommend a nice track/project car to work with in Forza Motorsport 4? You can either give me a personal recommendation, or just pick something from the car list (found online).. I'm out of ideas

From what I know there's a fair amount of learning to do but it's not like there's a crazy amount like with the hammer editor, it's more just spending time with it.

Why do people say that women aren't funny?

Nobody wants to admit they don't get a joke. Better to put down a whole gender than admit that sh*t...

Or maybe it might be the fact that most women don't perform standup, and therefore aren't featured as much in the comedy circuit, which leads to that perception?

But hey, flavor of the week answers are fine too I guess.

Whenever i start a new program and i get stuck i just google what i'm looking for and there is almost always a video to show you how to do what you're having trouble with.

That'll be The Yardies topic in Crews & Gangs.

Fun fact, it's averaged 20.5 replies per day since its creation over 7 years ago.

I have no idea what 'flavour of the week' means; however, the whole point of sarcasm is that the semantic denotation is explicit, and that the connotation is implicit, so using some idiom or colloquialism kind of negates whatever you were going for there. Your answer presents the case that it is impossible that women might be unfunny, in fact they are all hilarious, just that none of them attempt stand-up (?). The fact of the matter is that many girls try, and fail on the comedy circuit - simply because they don't have the name recognition and million-dollar stadium runs doesn't mean they don't exist - there are any number of reasons, not simply limited to male domination of the industry or the number of people that try why women might be considered unfunny. Although of course painful realities of life for women, continued marginalisation, periods, lecherous sexual advances and objectification - ripe to be trivialised - are unpleasant and otherwise avoidable truths for men, who have the benefit of considering them poor taste or without comedic value and henceforth avoiding them completely.

Track: Nurburgring Nordschliefe

I feel like this is a lazy, non-committal answer that doesn't shed any meaningful light on the stereotype.

William Congreve is quoted as having penned the following over 300 years ago;

"I must confess, I have never made any observation of what I apprehend to be true humor in women ... If ever anything does appear comical or ridiculous in a woman, I think it is little more than an acquired folly or an affectation."

That's about the earliest reference one can find on the stereotype. Now, in this particular period of time (Renaissance England, FYI) women did not perform on stage at all. It wasn't outlawed, but due to social bias, it was simply unthinkable. The typical expression of comedic entertainment throughout this period, as far as I can tell anyway, was through plays (dating back to the Greeks in so far as that is concerned).

So it comes as no surprise to me that, in parts of the world that are Anglicized, this stereotype is still in-use today given that in the grand scheme of things, female performers are a 'recent' phenomenon -especially in comedic pursuits-.

Stereotypes are tough buggers, hard to kill off for good. ;)

That's nice. I also have feelings on various subjects.

Nice to see that you did some research, and then decided to pick on my earlier post as if to earn some extra internet-kudos. Good for you.

I mean I kind of spent the next two hours reading research papers and watching documentaries on primate social bonding and the development of laughter and smiling correlating to bodily hair changes and higher prevalence of tool-use (as opposed to teeth) in aggressive engagements, but you know, since I don't believe it's a question that has any specifically correct answer I didn't really want to wax lyrical with theoretical answers as if they were a divine solution to stereotyping in the modern day.

So I joked about it - you didn't find it funny, so be it.

Finn 7 five 11

So been single a little over a week now, I still don't regret it so it must have been the right choice, and I know, advice on a forum blah blah virgins something blah blah.

Anyway, there is a girl I work with that is a few years younger, but pretty hot and definitely into me, i've known her a a few months or so now, and she gets the impression I am a loving boyfriend type and have had a few "awwww" moments telling her about the nice things I did and whatever while I was in a relationship, because we chat a reasonable amount at work, and subtly propping myself up in general conversation is never a bad thing, so she's been into me a bit since before I was single.

Anyway, she was at work the day I came in after the breakup, she was being super nice to me, and ever since has been getting very touchy feely with me, talking close to my ear, holding my hand and playing with it, hugs, pushing up against me when in conversation, always smiling and laughing while we talk, playing with her hair ect, and I like her too, so this is not a bad thing, and a rebound chick is on the cards, maybe not for a few weeks, but I want to clearly signal intent, it's obvious I like her, and she likes me, but I need to get her to kinda make the approach so I can, yeah, I am playing the game, I have her on Facebook now and have had a few casual chats, and I am trying to figure out how to up the ante when I came up with this, and this is where I need some outside opinions.
---------------------

So the actual question:

I was thinking, maybe in another few days time, on a day where I am not working with her, to send a message in the morning that goes something like:
"Hey Millie, I was wondering, I have a question for you..."
When she replies, hopefully in the morning a bit later: "Yeah, what did you want to know? :)"
Then I will reply and say something like: "ahh, nevermind, ask me to tell you tonight I'm a little busy right now"

So if she definitely does like me hopefully she will read into that message and hope that I was going to ask her on a date or something, hopefully that gets her thinking about me all day, and she might ever feel like she's overthinking it on a day conveniently placed when I'm not around the office. She will be thinking that I am hinting at something more and that I like her, so it signals my intentions however still subtle enough that I could play it down If I need to.

If she remembers to message me back that night and reminds me to ask her, then I know she's interested.
If she doesn't reply, then she's clearly not super interested and I can just play it down and ask something not very important.
If she does reply though, I could quietly suggest "Oh yeah, I nearly forgot, I was wondering, maybe when we're not at work we could go out for dinner or something sometime?"

So what do you guys think? Subtle and clever enough to draw out her intentions while giving a glimpse of my hand? Or just lame and too thought out? I personally think it's subtle and clever. Let me know guys, much appreciated. :)

I'm not one for psychological jedi mind manipulation, but your idea legit sounds like it could work.

>Be Millie

>See Finn say he wants to ask you something

>Ponder what it could be

>Come to the conclusion he wants you to be his shorty

>OMG Yes!/not sure how feel

>Anxiously await reply

>f*ck it's finn's msg, what do

>Damn oh no he changed his mind or got scared

>Realise I definitely wanna be his waifu

>Oh god hope he asks me

>Oh god what if he doesn't ask me

>Oh god what if he never intended to ask me

>Oh god I want him

>HE ASKED ME!

>YESYESYESYESYES

>live happily after

For real though Finn, in these kind of situations, I usually consult my Magic 8-Ball. Or at least one of those paper fortune-tellers if I happen to be on the go.
