When stopped at a stoplight, should I put the shifter in neutral and let the clutch out, or is it okay to leave the shifter in first with the clutch in?

Don't stop at stoplights, it's not very fuel efficient...

What's better? Subaru WRX STi or BRZ? What's another good rally car besides a WRX ??

How important is it to take a "rest" day when trying to lose weight? I took today to rest my body because it's super sore from deadlifting + squatting (which I'm still working on) from yesterdays work out. I had worked out every day before that for 5 days as well. However, I know my body is still going to be super sore tomorrow - but I don't want to take 2 rest days. Should I just suck it up and go or should I continue to rest my body until it's better?

Also, can someone please recommend me a good hot sauce? One that it actually spicy and I could find on e-bay?

Hmm... obviously each has it's pros/cons and depending on what kind of driving you like you may prefer one over the other.
To be more specific - which one do you think looks better? including wrx hatchback.
Personally, I like the wrx because I find the BRZ to be pretty overrated much like the FRS.

AFAIK, deadlifting and squatting are muscle- and strength-building exercises, somewhat the opposite to weight loss. They're called compound exercises because they work on multiple sites of the body, but at the expense of depending a lot more on form and technique compared to other exercises (why I personally dislike them).

For muscle-mass and strength training, it's important to take days off - most programs say you should work on each site only once or twice a week. The period between sessions (when you feel sore and weak) is when your muscle fibers are being rebuilt, bigger and stronger than before.

For weight loss exercises like the tread-mill and cross-trainer, you don't have to worry about such a rest period, though it's obviously best you don't push yourself too hard and exercise when you're feeling tired or sore.

Here's some good links from a really good website for body building:

The BRZ is better looking IMO. The Impreza is a bit funky, in fact I think it looked better as a hatch.

The Impreza will be faster cross-country, point-to-point, but I think I'd rather drive the BRZ. More fun.

Best advice i can give you is to listen to your body and don't over exert yourself you could only hurt yourself in the end.

Taking a few days to recover isn't going to hurt anything.

Insightful response. :) Body building does help in weight loss, though, since muscle tissue is the most metabolically active in the body. Greater muscle mass would therefore mean greater metabolism.

Don't be so hard on yourself :p

Anyway, I'll (hopefully) be starting compsci at uni in a few months, d'ya think it would be better for me to spend my summer focusing on coding in 'preperation' or something completely different, like art, so I don't just have one thing going for me?

Depends entirely on what you want to actually do. By itself, a CS degree tends to end up pretty useless. They are a great general foundation, but your usefulness as employee depends entirely on how you expand on that. So what sort of a job do you hope to get with CS?

So much better as a hatch.

I'd get a grounding in the ins and outs of ongoing stuff in the information security realm. Get some malware samples off Contagio, start teaching yourself Olly and IDA Pro, learn the basics of dynamic malware analysis using stuff like nice personoo Sandbox or virtual machines. K^2 is right that in itself CompSci is a little bit meaningless but if it's CompSci with a focus on, say malware analysis that's a lot more useful.

It'll serve you very well, give you something to focus on for a final year project, a really useful transferrable skill and will make you much more enticing to companies should you decide to do a year in industry (which you absolutely should). The infosec community is absolutely gasping for people with decent, layered understanding of stuff like malware analysis.

Take a look at the Open Security Training "Introduction to Reverse Engineering" series, especially the bomb lab, and the Legend of Random stuff to get you started. I'm from a non-computer-science background and found them challenging but certainly doable; if you're getting ready to go to uni to study you've probably got a better grounding that I started with.

And learn Pyhton. It's the go-to higher level programming/scripting language for basically everything.

It comes down to what you're looking for. The BRZ seems to be a really fun car to play with and drive. The WRX has more room and its more practical, however. If you're a tall driver, and you have a BRZ, you may feel uncomfortable. Nobody will be able to sit directly behind you as well.

Okay, the following question will be a bit of a mouthful, but I hope you guys can answer it anyway.

So, currently my biggest dream and goal to achieve is to emigrate to Canada and probably bring some family and friends with me.

I really want to live in or very near a huge pine forest, you know, a true boreal forest. It has to be a wild forest where Mother Nature plays her role and not all that man made plantation bullsh*t. Yet I want to live near civilization so I can easily do the groceries, receive medical attention and drop off the kids using a car.

It needs to be a place where the summers are warm and mild. Don't care about how cold the winter is.

I would like the location to be in the Province of Ontario.

So, does anyone know a place that matches my preferences?

Excellent point, I didn't quite think of that. :)

The process of building muscle itself will increase weight, by adding muscle mass. Furthermore, the high-calorie, high-protein diets involved during muscle-building makes weight loss very difficult - in fact many body-builders will also gain fat during periods of building muscle.

You are spot-on in that once you increase muscle mass, and stop the training, losing weight will be a lot easier due to muscles having a high metabolic rate (see side-note below).

Doing muscle-building and weight-loss training simultaneously is very difficult, but possible:

http://www.bodybuilding.com/fun/kelly3.htm

However, most body builders prefer alternating periods of muscle-gain, and weight (fat) loss training.

Side-Note: Muscles do have a high metabolic rate compared to adipose tissue, so for two people of the same weight, the person with more muscle will have a higher metabolic rate. However, the assertion that muscles have the highest metabolic rate isn't quite true - the brain and kidneys (as well as neoplastic tissues) have far higher metabolic rates:

http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC2980962/

Though I don't quite know of any training regime that'll give you extra brains and kidneys, and getting a tumour to lose weight probably isn't the best of ideas. :pp So, again, you're right in that building muscle is definately the best way to increase one's metabolic rate.

Not necessarily as you also have to take into account the person's surface area , meaning that two people could be the same weight and have same percentage of muscle tone, but the taller person would normally have the higher metabolic rate.

There's actually far more factors that affect one's Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR), though listing them all is redundant detail, and rather silly tbh.

Upload the image you want to use to an image hosting site, like imgur.com, and use that as the source for your avatar, if you're trying to select one from your computer.

For some reason the current IPB won't let you use an image from your computer.

This appears to have been caused by an IPB security update. We are waiting for Invision to release a patch.
