As far as I know, he/she was banned for impersonating a female and I guess something else which I can't remember.

Well, to answer your question (sort of), mods usually don't disclose specific reasons for banning someone - the only answer you'll get is that it's because they broke the rules, and that's the most you'll get.

I don't wish to sound harsh in any way, but I find it rightful to know why the said person is banned in a specific way.

 

I mean, when I was banned for a lifetime, the moderation gladly told the community both reason and which alternative account I used. I just find it a little unfair.

Anyway. It's been ages since the Aby account was banned. She was on a new account, Tech-Noir, and it was felt she needed an extended vacation for her attitude. There really is not much more to it than that.

With all due respect, anyone who thinks they have a right to know why another member was banned on an internet forum really needs to get off their high horse and mind their own business. Members aren't banned for no reason so it really shouldn't be that hard to figure out.

Who said I was referring to knowing why members were banned? No, we shouldn't know why every single person was banned. But there are other ways to bring the staff closer to the community so that everybody benefits. Am I insulting the staff? No, they work very hard to keep this site as clean and running as they can. But suggestions can't hurt anybody.

While this specific circumstance involves disclosing the reasons why members were banned, I was talking in a broader sense. I did say consistently transparent, in which I mean that the staff should maybe be consistent on either telling why members are banned or not. To be fair, I am not aware on why paperbagdude was banned, but unless it was for something like blatant trolling across the entire forum (which it could have been, I don't know, and in a public case like that most everybody would know anyways) it seems unfair to happily disclose the reason for his ban but then get up and arms when someone asks why someone else was banned.
