Heres a question, suppose youre in USA and youre a 12 years old kid and your mom is an heroine addict, so a social worker comes to your house, and does what?? (assuming the social worker actually does his job).

Do you end up in an orphanage before you get adopted? is anyone familiarized with such process? How long does it usually take?

Also what if your mom is dead because of OD? What changes?

 

I know it seems like a random question but i really need to know, nothing personal tbh, please answer

In reality the social worker will file paperwork and hope nothing bad happens. Then when the kids skeleton is discovered under the trailer months later, people will try to reform the CPS system in said state for a while before realizing we, as Americans, elect leaders unwilling to spend money for the good of even the children and things go back to "normal", i.e., disastrous.

This is a serious question for me.

 

Should I open up more to my neighbors if I live in an apartment complex that filled with college students and they just temporarily rent that place (so they usually only stay there for a year)?

 

I'm not a much of social person unless someone engage me to do that. I often saw my neighbors face but I'm too damn shy to ask his name or just for a small chat, and they seems don't give a f*ck about opening up either.

I would, some of those students might be useful to you down the road. Although it depends what are you studying.

 

I studied marketing. My neighbors always come and go every year so once I got to knew them they would probably have moved away. Edited March 28, 2015 by unbid

You're not. There are quite a few entry level opportunities in the field of Foreign Affairs and International Relations, though I'd say a Master's degree is advisable. There is of course no guarantee you can start working for your country's Foreign Affairs Ministry straight after uni but there are also other opportunities in the field and outside of it. Think NGOs, IGOs, law, journalism or even business.

 

Well, my plan is to become a diplomat after college, but it's a pretty specific field and there are fewer than 400 active Portuguese diplomats...

I've seen the diplomacy exams, though, and I feel like I could pass pretty comfortably. The government just requires you to have a degree (in whatever field), so I was planning on studying either Poli Sci or IR in college. Which of these courses do you think is better for my goal, Raavi?

It'll take some time to get to be a diplomat, but you might be lucky, my other's father is an ambassador, he is about 45-50 and got into it when he was approximately 27-30, which is pretty young I think.

In Portugal it goes like this:

Attaché

Secretary

Counselor

Minister Plenipotentiary

Ambassador

 

Passing the exam qualifies you as an attaché, and after "confirmation" (the wording is pretty vague), you're appointed as a Secretary. After 10 years of working in this position and 4 years of foreign service, you can apply for the position of counselor. And so on...

I guess the hard part is becoming a counselor.

I was listening to 90's country on Pandora yesterday and they played a song called Cheyenne by Garth Brooks and i've probably heard that song hundreds of time but just now figured out the song was talking about a woman who went mental after her boyfriend died and she killed herself and now walks the beaches of cheyenne as a ghost.
