On the subject of smartphones, why is it that my phone doesn't register apostrophes in this particular website? Not a big deal, but, since I'm a grammar nut, it really gets on my nerves.

Yeah, it's a bit annoying. When I post from my phone I either make do with an accent or just avoid contractions altogether.

I think they use the word "arse" in the UK.

It's ass in US and arse in the UK/ Austrlaia/ New Zealand/ everywhere else English is spoken

Originally, "arse" (derived from a Germanic root) referred to the buttocks, while "ass" (derived from the zoological designation of a donkey) referred to the animal. Nowadays, they are synonymous and both are used either as insults meaning dumb (as in the phrase "to make an ass of onself) or to refer to the buttocks.

practice practice practice. Double shot of espresso extracted in 24-30 seconds with a crema containing 3 shades of brown and no holes. The final product should be 1 part espresso, 1 part steamed milk, 1 part frothed milk.

I second this notion!

 

Basically, in order to do that, you get an espresso ready as if you were going to make a cappuccino, but (here's the twist) then you just drink the espresso like a manly man

I hear making a cappuccino is a pretty meticulous procedure, though. If you're interested in other coffee-milk blends, I would recommend a very simple Portuguese drink, the galão.

 

It's basically 1/4 coffee and 3/4 foamed milk, served in a tall glass. Oh, and don't forget to add some sugar (about 2 teaspoons) It's my second favourite drink; you should try it sometime!

To answer the question, the hype and hatred towards it has died down to a degree, so they're less vocal about it. Or something like that. The community is still as big as ever.

Has anyone had experience with being a host at a restaurant? How difficult is it? I start my job on Saturday and i'm gonna be a host. I know I can do it cause i'm very friendly when I need to be, but i'm just wondering how difficult the actual job itself is. You know, keeping track of which tables are available and all that good stuff.
