Anyone know the cost of painting a car yourself? Materials and how long it would take?

the hardest part would be removing the old paint and priming the surface for the new paint. seeing as you don't know what your doing it could take days/weeks.

 

 

I don't mind the time, it'd be a fun project. The cost is really what I'm curious about. Having it professionally done seems to go into the $3,000+ range, but it's probably because of the time it takes. I just need to know the cost of materials, really.

your best bet would be to ask around at paint stores and get prices that way. yhe main problem will be with the spray gun which will cost around $120 a day to hire out (in aus) and it is very easy to mess it up.

My school had a vocational program with a bunch of different job-related classes, including automotive body repair. I didn't take it, but AFAIK any person who wanted to bring their car in could get it painted, as long as they pay for the paint. However, I had auto service next door to them, and usually the kids like to go rummaging through people's cars and steal stuff.

 

If you're okay with that, you could ask around the area high schools and vocational centers and see if they could paint it. It would be a lot cheaper, but probably not as "professional" compared to actual automotive paint shops.

Like "Time is a cruel mistress?" Mistress is like a master, or controller in that context, where fate/time/beauty/whate-have-you is the controller. Not sure where it came from. There was a poem I read in high school literature class titled To My Cruel Mistress, or something like that, but I can't find it. That's the earliest piece of writing that I can remember the term being used specifically.

 

this might be the poem, but I'm not really sure. Thomas Carew lived in the 17th century.

Also for a major job (not a touch up) there is the 'baking' time to harden the paint.

So a lot of stuff at home does not work at all. I know it must have been electrical failure somewhere but it's really strange since my TV and Xbox are connected to the same socket (using an extension) but only TV works - power supply doesn't. Same with the TV in living room, the TV does not work but the box with the TV channels is working.

 

My computer, TV and phone/PSP charger are the only electrical objects that work at the moment.

 

So is there some wierd electrical failure at home or did everything just randomly broke?

 

EDIT: Soon after making this post, everything else stopped working. Now the power is back on, but I'm still curious how some things still worked and some didn't even when connected to the same socket.

According to my mom, my dad used to eat doggy treats all the time, and nothing bad has happened to him AFAIK.

 

I remember when I was in Petco one time, and I tried a doggy treat. It was the most terrible-tasting thing I have ever tried, so I'm not sure why someone would want to eat dog food. Unless it's those Beggin' Strips. Those look good.

No, Even though they aren't very tasty they won't harm you if you eat em some do have natural ingredient such as chicken/fish and veggies

 

In fact i have heard that it is recommended to if you are going on an extended hike it's a good idea to to take a bag of treats because they contain protein and could save your life.

Shucks... Olde poor people have been eating pet food for years, before the Government handed out cheese to go with it. Now that they don't use as much horse meat and fish leavings it doesn't smell as bad as it used to. Yum.

 

Personally I prefer the 88¢ Banquet Meals. Yum, Yum.

You don't need a spark to start a fire, you can use a magnifying glass to just help focus the sun's rays in to a single spot. I know there aren't perfect glass lenses lying around in nature but it proves that heat alone is enough to start fires. Many forest fires are probably not started in that way though, someone tossing an old cigarette butt out in the wild would be plenty and if the sun's been baking at it for days or even weeks the leaves and twigs will be so dry that the fire will be out of control in seconds.

I have had no sleep for 25+ hours now as I had a long night shift last night. I havent gone to bed simply because I dont feel that tired yet and I dont have anything to do tomorrow so I can sleep late. But what happens if I stay up 2 days or so?

That's what scares me most about sleep deprivation. Knowing I might harm myself because of something that doesnt exist but my mind believes it does and is going to harm me. Or I might even harm someone else.
