Agnostic - someone that doesn't know if there is a God or not.

Atheist - a person that disbelieves the existence of a God

My question is what is the term for someone that believes in a God?

If you're gonna use a term that doesn't say anything about how many God's they believe in, I would say the right word is "theist."

I call them retards

I'm fairly certain "Theist" would be an appropriate term

One should use the gears to slow down the car, to ease stress on the actual brakes.

That's the ecodriving side of it. The adverse effect of it (our teachers told us this quite a few times) is that the amount of cars going to the workshop because of poor brake function has increased dramatically over the last few years. The ecodriving that everyone is taught nowadays is making people efficient to the point where their brakes seize up because they just aren't used the way they need to be in order to function properly anymore.

^ The main reason why you don't coast on neutral is that if your brakes fail, you don't end up with a runaway vehicle. It's usually only really enforced with heavy vehicles on slopes, but technically, it's illegal to coast in general. Definitions of coasting vary from place to place, though.

Whether you actually use your gear to engine-brake or not is a separate matter.

Agnosticism simply means having doubt. Usually, existence of God is implied as the thing being doubted, but even that can go either way. You can have a theist with doubt, or atheist with doubt.

Atheism isn't quite that simple, either. Lack of belief in god and belief in the lack of god are two very different things. Yet both are typically labeled as atheist. To distinguish, these are sometimes called the weak atheism and strong atheism respectively.

Pretty much, the only simple one is the case you're asking about. A theist believes that there is a god. Or many. But there can be overlap with the above, as is evident from the point on agnosticism.

Honestly, the whole labels thing is tricky. It's better to just state explicitly what the person in question believes.

Slowing down with gears tends to put more pressure on the sprockets in the transmission so if you aren't stressing the brakes you're putting stress on those small tooths anyway. In other words just use both techniques in reason Edited by dice

I thought so I guess I would call myself monotheist.

Why is the internet an inherently more dangerous place to interact with other people, anymore than with people outside of cyberspace?

If anything, what happens to you in real life isn't as step by step and traceable as it is online, email, IP and all.

What do you mean? I don't think anyone thinks that the internet is more dangerous than real life.

Keep believing that.

Really? I always hear parents warning their kids about strangers on the internet, like its worse than strangers irl.

What is this even supposed to mean?

From what movie is the scene with a guy that's doing pull-ups or something in a jail cell(?) while strings play a descending scale accompanied by some horns if I'm not mistaken?

A sideshow bob scene in The Simpsons is also based on this scene, as well as an Uncle Leo scene in Seinfeld

edit: here's a clip of the seinfeld parody:

Why The Yardies aren't an official gang anymore?

Did you see the frightened ones? Did you hear the falling bombs? Did you ever wonder...

...why we had to run for shelter when the promise of a brave new world unfurled beneath a clear blue sky?

This is because we speak about the dangers of strangers in real life so much that it kind of loses its meaning. With the dangers on the internet it hasn't quite got to that point yet where its said so often that it doesn't really mean anything.

This makes the most sense! :)

Another example is advertising *yourself* on backpages of craigslist. Like how is that possibly more dangerous than doing it real life, if anything its safer since they'll be a record of it.

I m starting work on an a paper advocating for the repeal of the death penalty nationwide for my English class, but I recently found out that my professor wants me to put a new spin on it. I feel like this topic has been done to death and pretty much all of the bases have been covered (race, cost, innocence, etc.) and I can t for the life of me find anything meaningful or new to add to this conversation.

In what way can I give a new spin on the case against the death penalty?

Using otherwise death sentenced prisoners as psychological/experimental drug testing, replacement for foreign deployed army, high risk labour.

Do you realise that he was asking for a talking point for his English lesson? Do you realise the difference between suggesting a topic and proposing it in the real world? Do you realise that I personally wasn't proposing it? Do you realise that this is have a question topic? Do you realise that the question 'In what way can I give a new spin on the case against the death penalty?' Is not 'what do you actually propose we do?' Do you realise how dimwitted you look right now? Do you realise that 'Hitler (I assume you mean the Nazis)' merely did human experimentation for the sake of it? Do you realise how infuriatingly stupid you are to have to make me type this out because you can barely understand the nature of a theoretical question?
