They did - the $300k we got for logging in last week is getting handed out this week, and then they're giving players an additional $100k for logging in between the 10th and 16th.

 

There's also a third known Guest List cash giveaway, for $350k - my bet is that we'll get that for logging in between the 24th and 30th.

If the current cash giveaway won't be deposited any later than July 9th then the giveaway next week will be deposited by the 16th max, no later than that. That makes a release for the 17th easily plausible.

 

In fact that means the update could release on the 10th too. They'll be done giving this week's cash before that and they can start giving away next week's cash throughout the update release week.

Yeah they've never done that before so I doubt it. My money is still on the 17th unless they announce another giveaway next week for the week of 17th-23rd. That would just be really weird as I don't see them releasing the update that late into July. Most updates have released in the middle of specific months.

10th is definitely possible, yeah - because they're not giving out any money during that time.

 

See, it's a bit vague in how they've worded it in the Newswire, but it sounds like the $100k thing is another 'log in any time during Week 1, then get the cash no later than the end of Week 2', just like for the $300k. That means the login period is July 10th - 16th, and the handout period July 17th - 23rd.

 

That rules out the 17th, but leaves the 10th and 24th as entirely possible.

Well, if they handle the wireframe bodysuits (5 in total, IIRC - purple/pink/orange/green/yellow) like the FAFF t-shirts, E&OC pajamas, Jock Cranley jumpsuits, etc., then they might just release some of them now, and some ...a year or two from now, as a way of adding more to another random event week further down the line 

 

As for the cash bonuses, there's no mention of $250k - so far, just the $300k from the initial Guest List sign-up period, the $100k from logging in next week, and a further $350k at some point later in July.

The 300k is for logging in between July 3rd - 9th aka this week.

Either they do the 350k giveaway during the week of 17th - 23rd or they release the update on the 17th and do the last giveaway along w/ the exclusive liveries and discounts on stuff from the Nightclubs update during the week of 24th - 30th, which actually makes more sense considering the Swinger and Pound Truck Custom will be out by then.

 

Or they could do that same giveaway the week of 17th - 23rd and hold the liveries/discounts on Nightclubs stuff locked behind tunables and release the update on the 24th. I personally don't see this happening.

Also, you're suggesting that someone could login this week but only on the night of the 9th to earn and receive the money all in one go? If this is the case, then why do they always give themselves a good week to issue the cash?

..okay, right - got it. This Guest List thing has basically screwed up the usual way of doing things - normally, you'd have to log in to GTAO for every individual cash unlock like that.

 

Instead, though, the whole 'Guest List' thing means one login period that covers the whole thing - it's just instead of getting the rewards at once, they're staggering them over several weeks.

 

(unless, of course, you didn't manage to get online during last week - in which case you're screwed out of any of it for the rest of the month... )

Yes lol. That's the whole point of being on The Guest List. Which I find kind of insulting really, as the weekly giveaways actually depend on people logging in every week to get the money. But if you didn't log in between June 25th - July 2nd you don't get anything even if you log in every week this month.

Yep - in fact, re-reading the original Guest List thing (because I can't trust my own lying eyes anymore... ), they mention "bonus cash each week". That's not cash some weeks - that's cash every week, until the whole Guest List thing is over.

 

And again, they can't wait until the Guest List events finish, because otherwise ...how on earth are people going to unlock the "new nightclub themed t-shirts", when they're not even in the game yet?

 

With that all being true, that basically rules out the old 'they can't update the game while they're still giving out money' thing, because at some point during this Guest List malarkey, they're going to have to release the update, while still giving out bonus cash "each week".

All that crap instead of giving 500k at a random moment between now and the release of the update. Ffs.

 

It's not like the people that will get that money are mostly us who log in at least once a week pretty much every week of the year. Players that come when the update is out and abandon the game soon after for the next 6 months won't care to log in for peanuts and won't buy shark cards either. And kids will buy them anyway so....

...I mean, logically, R* would have to release the Pounder Custom before the discount on it, and likewise the Swinger before the decal unlocks - but as has been pointed out elsewhere, they gave people a 100% discount on the Hermes before it was even added, and considering how everything else works with the guest list, it's not 'log in during this time to get exclusive decals', and more 'if you didn't jump through certain hoops several weeks ago, you can't get Shaguar flag decals on your car'.

The only wrinkle I can think of would be if R* skipped a week of bodysuits/money to release the update (thus sticking to the old 'rule' of 'no update while they're giving out money' - although again, the fact that they're tracking who is/isn't eligible for the Guest List stuff while the update comes out contradicts that) - which'd mean the 10th is off the table.

They already know who gets the giveaways and who doesn't by the end of July 2nd so they don't need to track that anymore. The update could come out both the 10th or 17th if they're doing giveaways every single week or if they indeed can't put out an update during the giveaway period then I see the 17th being that grace period where they use that for the update and then resume the giveaways a week later until the end of July.

Lemme clarify: it's not so much an issue of 'knowing who is/isn't eligible' as it is 'whatever automated widget responsible for giving money out to certain people getting scrambled by a new update patch'.

 

That's why it's been taken as a given that R* wouldn't ever patch the game while they're still handing out cash - they've already had enough problems with some players not receiving anything without them meddling with the game at the same time...

 

If that's still true, yeah, the 10th is out of the question - and it remains to be seen whether or not "each week" literally means 'free money every week' or just 'most weeks, except for the week of the update itself'.
