Except using the in game music doesn't mean "pushing play on a playlist." DJing could give the player access to all of the music in the game. It would be up to the player to choose which track would play next. They could even toss in the option to increase/decrease the speed, overlap tracks, add effects, etc. That wouldn't be pushing play on a preset playlist.

Unless you are using turntables with a mixer, I don’t think you can call that  DJing 

If anything it will be a water down version of DJ Hero which isn’t DJing

What if they did something a bit like Sunset Overdrive's soundtrack, but as a game mechanic?

 

Sunset Overdrive had background music multi-tracked, and as you'd build up your combos and the in-game 'chaos meter', more of the different instrumental tracks would layer up, until you had the full thing playing. FTL did similar, with regular and combat versions of each number synchronised, and the game seamlessly blending back and forth depending on whether or not you were under fire.

 

Now, imagine similar, with new licensed music for GTAO - but for the DJ minigame, you have different mixes, and you have to swap between them to keep the crowd entertained. Or something like that - bearing in mind that any attempt at turning it into a minigame would inevitably be watered-down from the real thing, in the same way as the hacking minigames are in no way reflective of the real thing.

is there anything more ironic than the concept of even saying "that's not DJing" !?    propping up wanna-be's who play MUSICIANS' work on a turntable and glorifying them as if it takes even a shred of the actual talent it takes to master an instrument is bad enough.   let's not digress into whether DJ X can hit the play button just a little better than DJ Z, or whether some technological variant that makes it even stupider and easier constitutes some even smaller level of talent...  yeah yeah, i know, i know... i'm old, i don't know anything...  whatever.   spare me.      i'll just be over here letting my second character crank out research on the cheap while i'm AFK on Titan of a Job and working on my chord progressions, while i await the opportunity to mercilessly strafe the PVs parked outside the club with explosive rounds.

The closest we got to actually running a business was Biker where we could choose what missions we undertook using the Clubhouse board but even those were randomly selected. Exactly. This is going to be nothing more than tedious errands with a huge pricetag. Same as every other update. I wish they would just put out an update that wasn't about pure greed on Rockstar's part.

Eh, we're supposed to be doing stuff to pick staff, promote the club, that kind of thing - all in partnership with Tony Prince. So at least there's going to be some stuff beyond being delivery gophers (go for this, go for that... ) for LJT or whoever.

I wouldn't be surprised if we need to front "wages" for Staff, the more you pay the better the Staff are and then Daily Wages on top of that. So lets say you want a Bouncer, you can get the cheapest one for fifty grand who lets anyone in the club and your wall safe gets robbed frequently or you can buy the best one for a quarter of a million who only lets your wall safe be robbed seventy five percent of the time.

Exactly the same as buying Bunker Upgrades just reskinned.

Wouldn't be surprised if there are some related contact missions (or similar), too - after all, pretty much every major update from Import/Export had some, and even SSASSS had the Madrazo dispatch missions. I think there's going to be more to the whole thing than just 'delivery missions with a fresh coat of paint'.

It's starting to sound like Bunkers. "Managing staff" and filling up a safe while your rep increases - Do you want to set all staff to poledancing or bartending or split them? Do a beer/coke supply run to boost staff morale...

There's mot many club owners who actually DJ themselves. A club is like any venue, you get some talent/hire it out, open the doors and count your money. Playing good music and running a gpod buisiness are two very disciplines.

 

One better addition, rather than mixing music in-game, would be the ability to upload your own mixes, play them in the club and have crew mates come over to party.

Not really sure what to think of this DLC.  Running a night club sounds dull.

 

Hopefully you can burst into a packed night club, and massacre all the dancers to financially ruin it, or petrol bomb it and get paid by the night club's rivals.  That would be cool.

Imagine if it's actual "legit" Nightclub management. Bartenders is over pouring, waitresses ignoring empty glasses, monthly inventory, counting down drawers, high employees, obnoxious customer you still have to patronize,  an employee called in and now you need to redistribute responsibilities to accommodate.  Instead of raids we get surprise health inspections "Make sure all employees have a food handlers card"

Lol!  You should be able to call the health inspectors from your in game phone, or spike the drinks with laxatives.

Actually, while a Gay Tony appearance would be cool what if we actually saw Dessie? The one “checking ID’s dealing with Liberty City’s residents” guy could have flown out to Los Santos to start a club business of his own after learning the ropes from under Luis and Gay Tony on how to and how to not run a nightclub. Definitely won’t happen but still.

It will never happen due to licensing reasons, but Rockstar could do something like a DJ competition where users. submit a 10 minute mix and they can win a shot of having their mix played in a venue.

@K-Rocker @IamCourtney    Yeah, well, ya know, Dads are people, too.    LMAO     Sound advice on the clearing your head and looking around thing, but i'm here to tell you--sour grapes, the bitterness of advanced age, or whatever you wanna call it--I am going to enjoy the piss out of having a digital manifestation of something i genuinely dislike to blow up, sabotage, destroy, and otherwise GRIEF like crazy.    I mean, R* has taken me for a ride on some of these DLCs before (still totally bent about buying the damn Valkyrie the instant i completed that heist setup) but at last they came out with something that won't tempt me in the tiniest, slightest way.    Except when it comes to seek and destroy.    And i won't be alone.     It's nothing personal against any of y'all, you understand.
