you think rockstar isn't going to gogue you full price for a property? hehehe

If they do go the conversion of existing properties route, I'm sure the fee to do it will be equivalent to the price range we've seen for previous new business.

All true but wasn't what I was disputing.

@Ceeohthree

Disputing? Who’s disputing? We’re just discussing music. Something we both are passionate about. 😉

House is an American invention and EDM is not, correct?

House was created at the Warehouse in Chicago and spread to New York's LOFT, Paradise Garage and so forth. American music from Urban culture.

Electronic was European style dance music, which was popular overseas and not in the U.S. until years later.

From my experiences, original ‘EDM’ like Kraftwerk became relevant when rappers sampled their music, making it popular in the streets and big club scenes of NY, Chicago, and Detroit. Only until then, EDM became a thing and the masses started to except it by way of rap music and establishing its own identity in the States as dance music. After a short while, it became disassociated with Hip-Hop as artists started utilizing funk and jazz samples a lot more.

Furthermore, dance styles evolved with the changes. Old school Electronic was and still is greatly appreciated by B-boys and girls, Up-Rocker’s and Popper’s, hence why it’s still played at old school Hip-Hop events today. Note, the dance styles mentioned are much older than Rap music. Rap is the youngest element of them all.

Make no mistake, Moroder and the like were already being played in the U.S., but mostly in Black/Latino clubs, which were underground. Larry Levan, Ron Hardy and many other were well known for spinning their music.

The same applies to Techno. It was irrelevant and too bizarre here in the states, but Europeans loved and embraced it, which is why a lot of people till this day confuse Techno with having European origins when it actually came out of the hoods of Detroit.

I’m saying this based off my personal experiences as a music lover, a club goer with over 20 years of nightlife experience, and avid dancer. I could talk about this stuff for days, because I’ve had incredible experiences and many fun moments. I started clubbing when I was 16. It was common in NYC to go to clubs that young, especially if you’re from the inner cities, in the 80’s and 90’s.

It was an outlet for many of us. Carding at the door was rarely enforced. A pair of shoes, slacks, dress shirt, or knowing someone got you in with little to no hassle.

Forgive me if I digressed.

Don't forget the Japanese, they were early into "electronic music" as well:

Rydeen by Yellow Magic Orchestra (YMO) from 1979

*sigh*

My current thoughts right now: "New update is coming out tomorrow, i don't have my pc here and the worst thing is that i don't even have windows installed on it, so i have to install windows and download entire gta 5 which will in total take like 1 day."

*sigh*

I doubt you could renovate the outside of your club. Imagine all of the neon signs and lights spazzing and bouncing within each other because 15 people in the lobby own the same location. And if they’re going to swipe the names off them.. well then I don’t see the appeal of using them over anything else? It would just be another nameless building on the outside anyway, no different then random warehouse locations

I didn’t mean it like that, I meant maybe Rockstar will change the existing clubs into just nameless clubs but with the neon lights/etc staying. Like Cockatoos for example, they’ll remove anything saying Cockatoos and make it into a nameless club space for the players, while the interiors are up to the players choice

It will probably work like a Biker Clubhouse. Outside is nameless, regular building. But inside you have your logos except we will probably have names and MAYBE logos if Rockstar decided to be generous.

exterior decorations won't work because multiple players have to own the same property.

Dude did you read what i've said? I've said that the NIGHTCLUB OUTSIDE WILL BE A NAMELESS, REGULAR BUILDING, but inside you will have lots of decorations like crew logos and names for your club.

Some of the songs or DJs people are requesting will never ever make it into GTA Online due to licensing and contract fees.

Oh how would a company with a Revenue of 1.7 billion and a value of over 3.3 billion ever afford mainstream music like they have done in the past?

why spend more than you need to producing a free DLC, on artists who are already at the top of their popularity and don't really need the exposure? I'm actually more interested to hear what artists, who I knew nothing about until their involvment was announced (yet are still rated highly by peers), have done performance wise. I'm sure they were paid, but it also opens up the opportunity for their fan base to expand and possibly to expose people who haven't heard their music before (I'm one of these people) We also haven't seen how the narrative works the DJ's in yet either, this could be another reason why they chose lesser known people, because it needed to fit the story. We won't know until we get a chance to actually see what Rockstar has created.

TL;DR - Give it a chance first.

I heard Steve Aoki was too busy looking at his own reflection and sticking his knob in birthday cakes to turn up for mo-cap sessions.

Firstly if "free" means Shark Card milestones, then by all means. It's just other's have paid for others and you pay in time or money either way.

As I discussed yesterday, so I won't go round in circles, I researched them and listened to them and aren't my cup of tea, as many songs in GTA games, but because of variation and genres then, there's something to appeal. It's just a marketing ploy for the DJs and cheapo tick the box for R*. I'm not criticising the narrative. There was nothing stopping R* adding music everyone knows AS WELL. New and common. Niche and Mainstream. Choice. Doesn't mean they had to Mo Cap, Voice act. They could have been DJ's Paul's mix and have known music from known DJ's. Done. No including of the DJ's, just licences. Nobody knows these unless you're into a specific genre in a subcategory. I listened to their mixes on Youtube, only Solomun I can handle. Rest I think are crap. Now what?

I can't imagine how much being on Worldwide fm did for Hackman, Swimdle etc

In general GTA has hugely influenced my musical directions and I actually buy CDs and vinyl.

i remember being blown away by the Scientist and buying the curse of the evil vampires on vinyl...

And that's only IF they are used at all. Which I doubt.

I really don't get why everyone is so obsessed with Bahama Mamas!?

You and me both.  Most people would go in a few times, look around, and never go back.  I think many have this robust activity menu in their head that would never be implemented (dance game, pool table, etc).
