Which GTA has more replay value? Why?

Femme Fatale

IV because it has the best story, protagonist, characters, radio stations, and everything in general.

I'm going to sound like a broken record, but GTA IV for me. Like I said in the GTA IV forum I'm currently on my 12th playthrough. The story is like one of my favourite movies I love to watch over and over again and exploring the city still kicks up surprises.

Playing with EFLC further enhances the experience too. On my GTA bucket list I would love to some day play GTA IV and EFLC in chronological order.

GTA IV for me as well. I lost count how many times I've already completed the game, but I guess eight sounds about right. I just can't get enough of the great story and fantastic driving and shooting mechanics turn this into great ride.

Second spot would go to VC for sure, which I've completed around 7 times I think.

SA, followed closely by VC. Just started a new game of VC yesterday. The music, the characters, the varied missions...these two are just so good.

I'd go for IV because of it's story, funny protagonist and antagonist, and pretty much more. As Tycek said, VC on the second spot. The radio stations were top.

Complicated question

2D era GTAs - As a kid I never complied the story but I couldn't count how many times I just started from the start just to f*ck around. That counts as replayability right?

GTA Vice City - I think I finished that story more then 5 times, probably more. Loved the Scarface theme and the 80s music

I could also argue GTA V since we are still playing gtaonline right?. And thats nothing more then reused content from single player, grinding and doing the same thing over and over again.

San Andreas has the most replay value imo it has tons of things to do in a huge map and the missions were fun, addictive and distinct and not boring and repetitive like 4.

I would have voted gta 5 its close too  but SA wins.

EDIT-GTA vice city as well has lot of replay value

GTA SA because of the tons of things to do, different city and vibes etc, the story and the characters.

GTA 4 because of the story and characters, the great city and it's NPCs.

GTA III because of the story and the gritty and dangerous Liberty City, damn I love the story and missions in this game with all these MOB boss and crazy and dangerous characters, Claude don't give a f*ck about anything, he got a goal and he would do anything to reach it. This is truly a crime game.

GTA Vice City for the amazing theme and story and characters, this one is really a crime game too.

I voted for GTA V because of how fleshed out it is, ie. three awesome playable characters, great movie-like story, and it was the best in the franchise for me personally. Have played it more than any other GTA's over the years.

(This is all completely my own opinion though)

I voted GTA 4 but only because that’s my favorite GTA.

To be completely honest, relating to 3, VC, SA, 4, TLAD, and TBOGT, the first playthrough with all those games is basically the playthrough to end all playthroughs as the characters and storylines are overall great!

But that’s just my personal opinion of course. :)

Hmmm nice bike

For me, it's between VC, SA and IV. I loved Vice City's Scarface-meets-Miami Vice story, and it's still very fun to play through. I'm sure nostalgia has something to do with this as well, but I don't care.

San Andreas was basically the quintessential GTA for its time, and it still is today for many. I don't know many people who didn't like this game, and despite it being a little more outlandish in some aspects, much like VC it was still a fun game and there was a ton to do. Memorable story and characters, too.

As for GTA IV, I think that the story is truly what makes this one replayable. Easily the best-written story out of any GTA, or any open-world game period. Plus, despite the lack of a lot of side activities, the environment is still fun to mess around in. And the shootouts and police chases are probably the most fun out of any GTA. GTA IV might not have jetpacks or purchasable properties, but getting a 5 star wanted level because of a shootout in Cluckin Bell and then trying to escape out the door to run from the cops coming after you was always fun.

GTA IV; great story with well developed characters, a breathing city and adorable game mechanics, especially the ragdoll.

The same apply to The Lost and Damned, despite it having a short (but very engaging) story. It also had more entertaining side-missions, which are fairly rewarding as well.

Just to add this this I love GTA IV's freedom in missions too. It might not have the "variety" people want from it, but I still discover different ways of completing missions even now. That's a contributor to its replay value to me as well as its entertaining side content.:)

Easy choice for me: San Andreas!

I completed it to 100% four times on original Xbox; after I had finished everything and even before while inbetween the various side missions and challenges, I would easily get lost for hours and hours just cruising around the map and listening to the radio. The game just had it all, especially back then - I couldn't get enough of exploring the desert and rural areas within Bone and Blaine counties, flying quickly over Area 69 (and sometimes driving through the fence) to see how long I could survive, driving fast down the hilly roads of San Fierro, gambling in Las Venturas, hanging out with the good people of the Grove in Los Santos, and so much more!

For me, it never got old or stale and the main storyline missions were a blast; they were extremely well-written and executed. All of the characters were interesting and engaging; they easily had some of the most memorable and hilarious dialogue from the series. With all of this, we were also able to work out, learn some new fighting techniques, and put on a ridiculous amount of weight from too many meals at the Cluckin' Bell.

I must admit that I was very disappointed that GTA V didn't include San Fierro and Las Venturas; although I did like both versions of Los Santos, I spent the majority of my time in these two places when playing GTA: San Andreas. I still have hope that we will see San Fierro and Las Venturas again in the future, but that's probably just wishful thinking.

I did enjoy GTA IV and it's more realistic feel and approach, but I've always identified more with the West Coast environment and games which take place there. I didn't go back and play GTA IV that much after completion, but I can easily see that it had plenty of replay value and it's perhaps something I'll consider playing again in the future if my time allows.

I would rate GTA III high on the list as well; I fully completed it twice and often went back to just drive around and have fun. I loved this game and I felt that it was aeons better than GTA: Vice City, which I admit that I struggled to fully complete even once. I guess Vice City had its moments, but I really did not like the map and just couldn't get into many aspects of the game as a whole, including the main story missions and characters. I would have to say that for me, it had absolutely no replay value at all and to this day, I still think it's highly overrated.

I don't think there will ever be another game like San Andreas though; in my opinion, nothing that has come out since has even come close!

GTA V

It just flows together so well with the multiple protags and the fact it's relatively short.

Longer narratives like IV & San Andreas feel more like journeys, but with the dated gameplay & long length they can drag on.

In all honesty? GTA V I just like the fact that it's constant action and have movie essence in it's blood combined with the fact that it is decently sized in terms of number of missions and overall length. I know it don't have the best story and all but it I always keep combing back to it to relive the good times as Michael with his whole life drama and sh*t as he is the real true main protagonist to me who just connects everything together.

A runner-up will be GTA VC for the same reasons as above... it is one of TWO good things about GTA VC along with it's EE. The entire game kinda sucked IN COMPARISON to other GTAs but was a great game overall for it's time.

I also like TLAD and TBOGT

I LOVE GTA 4 and SA story but man they feel exhausting to play in one sitting still great though!

All the other ones are just to little too tedious or boring to replay or are too long but are great every once in a while with the exception of GTA LCS which is both SUPER BORING and SUPER LONG eughhh ew

SA. To be fair I only beat it twice in full, same as III, but I have replayed certain missions a huge number of times. It is the only game that offers you something to do whatever if your mood: racing, eating, offroading, firefighting, shooting, flying, gambling.

Then I'd say III purely because of the atmosphere.

Then VC - it's a good game, but a bit too small and repetitive. Was great back in the day though.

Then V. Some missions are worth replaying, but it's a chore trying to get 100% on it. I'm currently stuck just below 90%.

And lastly, unsurprisingly - IV. Absolute zero replayability value with not a single thing you can or want to do once you've beaten the game. Shooting pigeons was sort of entertaining, but once they are gone they are gone, and all you're left with is the brown tinted shell of the city with boat-like cars. This was definitely not an enjoyable environment for me. Literally the only thing I used to do during the rare moments when I launched IV after completion was to go to the fun swing set. It's sad to admit that the only fun thing was put in the game unintentionally.

I don't mind the swingset glitch just for a laugh every now and then, but it's hardly the most fun thing to do in GTA IV. GTA IV's side missions, activities and city exploration > swingset glitch.

Personally the main reason I used to replay IV (while I still could) was cause of the brilliant shooting mechanics, calling Dwayne's goons and getting into shootouts with the various gangs and police never got old.

OT:  I dont have a most replayable GTA as such, but if I had to choose, I probably keep coming back to SA the most.

Random mayhem (especially in the hospital interiors 😛) > swingset glitch.

I'd say San Andreas because it's super old now but there are still lots of mods being made for it. But idk what will happen with GTA V in the future, maybe people still keep playing it actively many years from now.
