But we’re all pre-ordering Red Dead 2, right guys? We’re all going to buy it on day one, no questions asked, right? There is no way they’ll take a single player franchise, lauded for it’s immersive gameplay and story, and turn it into a vehicle for a multiplayer game with a robust, micro transaction based business model again, right? They’re not going to cannibalize features that could easily be included in the single player mode for the sake of maximizing micro transaction profits in the multiplayer, right? They won’t put out a game that should’ve been a single player with an optional multiplayer, but Is in actuality a multiplayer with an optional single player, right? Did you see those trailers? ZOMG! I did, they gave me chills, and I now know everything there is to know about the game. Rockstar will do right by me this time, I know it - that’s why I’ll blindly throw my money at them, because that’s how you discourage bad behavior from businesses.

This, this is spot on.

Literally describe what most of the players are doing over and over no matter what.

Where are you staying bro ? can I come ? we will play their games from the golden age, I will bring some pizza and sh*t.

eh I can understand it when people think that the vehicles that are armed but require a driver and gunner to operate would be out of place in story mode, doesn't mean I wouldn't appreciate them though.  Lowriders would fit right in with Franklin's story and the armed vehicles from the Heist update could've been used as side missions for Mike's movie studio; using them with Mike as a stuntman to film different scenes, completing them unlocks the vehicle for purchase from Warstock.

Yeah something like that. I understand SOME vehicles not being available but EVERYTHING since last gen support died? They trippin

I don't have any problems with online. It's fun to share your GTA experience with friends. However Online was enjoyable from 2013-2015.after that it went downhill. The execution of online wasn't good.

This may be random and off topic but can someone link me to any reliable article where that new R* frontman said V SP DLC was never planned? ☺️

Bullsh*t excuses. This dude is such a hack.

I really hope Rockstar can deliver with RDR2. If its somehow half assed because of their Online obsession I'm done with them and I hope there is proper backlash

That is very sad, online players will get opening clubs, Gay Tony maybe some missions with Luis.

What singleplayer gamers will get?

Everything locked, but still hidden somewhere in game files, spamming harddisk drive and dozens of new glitches and bugs for SP, that R* never patch.
Because f*ck singleplayer gamers that are not willing to pay equvivalent of full price of game for some stupid weaponized vehicle or retarded hypercar.

This company is trash, for smell of money they completely abandoned singleplayer mode, that defined GTA for long time.

F*ck RDR2 and GTA 6.I never going to buy it anyway, after Benz they are completely clowns.

I really despise when folks say stuff like "let it go" when discussing what kind of missed opportunities there were in a game. It undermines the problems people have. There was clearly DLC planned for SP but they instead tossed it into Online which is broken garbage. We're not "letting that go".

Exactly. While I still like GTA V a lot, Rockstar's treatment of the SP post release is disgusting and they need to be called out. Doesn't change that it has been a few years

The only way somebody could stress themselves out by complaining about directions a game went is if they spent literally ALL their time dedicated to it. Like, not even sleeping and barely eating. We do have lives outside of this site and we bring up our complaints here on this forum when we've got the time.

If anything, not griping about these things would make us more stressed since we'd have all these issues with the game yet have no way to release them. Sharing on a forum is a good way to get that stuff off your chest.

If anything it's probably because of money the voice actors want. That's basically how I've always seen it.

Very good point Vanzant. It's something you need to really be forward thinking about, to know how much work to contract for, and if your game falls short - and a game on the scale of GTA both in development and popularity, it's even more risky - to get that wrong, you're screwed and you still need to fulfill your end, which might mean scrapping plans just to pay the contracts themselves. I think everyone at rockstar and t2 knew that gta v and gta online were risky. It's shocking that it did this well first time out, in some ways, but boring ones I guess. But then if you contract short, have a runaway hit on your hands, and then actors saying "okay, now, you want more content, I will need more monies", yeah, they can get a lot of leverage really fast.

Stephen Ogg immediately did a bunch of work after V, you could even say competing interests like these potentially bloated the costs of availability and ability to negotiate something realistic for him and perhaps the others and it would still be an interesting thought to ponder.

Lol I'm certainly NOT pre-ordering RDR 2. Seeing what they did with V I won't be surprised if they f*ck up RDR. Micro-transactions is the future I guess.

Thanks for the positive replies. I personally wouldn't want to spend hours getting my voice recorded, wearing a suit full of motion cameras and getting paid next to nothing for downloadable content that Rockstar is going to shell out for free. Heck even if there was a $20.00 fee for the content what's in in it for me? If I had spent three years doing a project and got paid, the extras definitely aren't going to payout the same.

Look...I love Video Games and I also like how voice actors have lend their talent to be included, but video games take hours more to make than movies and that costs more. I wouldn't do the extra work for peanuts so a company can reap solid rewards. This is why Rockstar got into it with Ray Liotta and also there cannot be a San Andreas Stories due to the huge cast of supreme voice actors they choose. Samuel L Jackson alone probably got paid 1/5 the whole damn profit they made.

I also wonder how RockStar will work with future projects. Voice actors will definitely charge more since they know these games sell by the Millions. RockStar has ALREADY gone cheaper but the success of the games bite them in the ass when those cheaper actors probably want more to keep performing. I would. You would too.

There's a very big talent pool out there. Lots of people every day are trying to make it big as an actor and since they aren't famous yet they're super cheap and some don't really know or care about video games. Rockstar just has to keep looking for the ones that don't know or care about video games.

Still I'd like to see Nolan North or Troy Baker one day work on a R* title but I doubt it.

Sure Zello, there is a ton of people out there looking for a foot in the door. Is doing a voice in a video game going to do it? Let's say you think so. If you are offered $60,000 a year for three years of voice acting and modeling that is a total of $180,000 for all the work you put in. Now let's say you were funny and the best known character. You also find out bigger voice actors were paid $180,000 a year for the same work and spent HALF the time in the studio than you. Would you want to keep doing business with that company?

You won't...and definitely not when you get a better offer from a Network TV show or Movie contract.

All i want is the vehicles and weapons that have been released post Ill Gotten Gains Part 2 to be released for Single Player as well. Especially if you currently don't have Gold/ Plus and thus content you currently can't use (since you can't access GTA Online) takes up valuable harddrive space.

Rockstar knows that won't make a profit and they won't be able to sell you something possibly infinite amount of times. If you have the disposable income you buy 60 Bennys cars, fully mod them and replace them with other cars rinse and repeat. Whearas in Single player they can only charge you once for content that you keep forever if they released these in a paid DLC pack. Rockstar are focused on Online only from now on in games going forward. Why else would they delay RDR2 except to cut content from single player, add it to Red Dead Online, maybe fix a few bugs here and there and work on designing RDO to avoid loot box laws.

I can't believe THIS is the first post I come back to and reply to after being gone from the forum for so long lol. But every time this comes up, there's something in the back of my mind that I can't shake. I remember very clearly a comment being made by Dan Houser at some point in the past - possibly even before GTA V released but I'm not sure - where he said that the EFLC DLC from GTA IV sold very poorly, and that its weak performance might alter the company's plans going forward in terms of single player content.

I can NOT provide a source and I have no clue where I read it, but I am certain that I did. If anyone has actually seen it as well, please speak up so I don't think I'm crazy lol. For the record, I wanted single player DLC as much as anyone, and I loved EFLC better than vanilla GTA IV to be honest. But if it really did sell poorly, it makes sense that they would take that into consideration for future titles.

And yes I'm aware of the article from 2013 that mentioned upcoming story updates, we've all seen that now. That doesn't mean a company shouldn't reserve the right to change their mind at some point in development or go in a different direction. I suppose people would say an official confirmation of the DLC either existing or not would have been nice, but Imran Sawar's interview seemingly was just that. He said it was talked about but then moved against.

I don't know what to add besides that. It's sad we never got it and never will, but I wish people would quit acting so outraged over something that technically makes sound business sense. (I'm sure people will accuse me of sucking Rockstar's cock here too, but no, I'm speaking from the point of someone that understands business.)

It's always about money.  If it sells faster and stronger Online than RockStar needs to keep doing what it's doing into RDR and the next GTA title. If Single player downloadable content is released ever again, it needs to sell very well or it may not happen again. However, RockStar doesn't want to charge anyone Single Player content due to their own opinions. They seem to have mixed feelings about it.

Hmmm, no that wasn't it, but I do remember that interview, and it's a great read. It really shows how much care Rockstar does put into what they do, and how much it means to them for the fans to be happy with the end result. Maybe I am remembering something that never happened, that's why I mentioned it because I was on this forum and others, and reading about the development of GTA V daily for a good 3 years from the launch of the first trailer onward. And I remember that quote but have no clue where I ever heard it, or even IF I am remembering it correctly at all.

Thanks for that link though, I read through that entire entire view again and I love how candid Dan was about the development process.

I really wonder if R* is going to consider making DLC for RDR2 SP. Maybe like Undead nightmare or they will concentrate on the online portion. I hope so. Unlike V, Its bitter sweet because Onilne is getting so much content that SP should have.
