Will using a low-end patch get me banned on Online?

I'll get straight to the point. My computer is a piece of sh*t, it cannot run GTA V at all, I was thinking of using Ragnos1997's patch to be able to run it. But I've heard that that modding the game (even if without malicious motives) will always get you banned on GTA Online, would this mod cause the same thing?

Going online with any mods will get you banned, it's that simple.

100% yes, People used to old patch files and when a new update was released they would replace it with the old update file so they could go online and give themselves a boat load of money without being detected as the game security features in the old update wouldn't recognizes any mods.

R* eventually caught on and set it up to detect when someone goes online with an older version of the game but any kind of mods even harmless graphic mods such as Redux will get you banned.

You could try dropping graphics to the lowest settings etc. It won't be pretty, but it'll run better.

So, I can't play GTA Online unless I get a better PC?

GTA 5 is very optimised game. Try read about commandline.txt (try search it on english, there russian version official article) - legal method for tiny setup GTA 5.

And last: NEVER JOIN IN GTA ONLINE WITH ANY MODS! NEVER! Because Rockstar banned you.

Well, I have to use a commandline that sh*ts on the game to be able to have good FPS on GTA IV on lowest settings, so I thought I'd have no chance to run GTA V.

Sorry Kesha, GTA V may be a decently optimised game but GTA Online isn't... you can't run 4K with 60fps absolutely everywhere even with a few people in the session with your graphics maxed out, as especially with hilly or grassy areas, it'll be dipping below 60. I know one 1080ti can struggle maintaining 60fps when at 1080p resolutions with grass set to very high in Online, so that's not particularly optimised in my opinion. Probably mostly due to the netcode and all the scripts that are running online. It always amazed me that the more detailed, more active (more peds, objects and cars) single player got better FPS than the less detailed GTA Online.

GTA V / Online on the lowest settings looks worse than GTA V / Online on PS3 or Xbox360 so you have to consider that.

The frame scaling mode in the Advanced Graphics options should help with fps - set it to (x0.500). You'll notice some graphic degradation but the FPS will go up.

Hey Gaffa! Yep, you right about netcode! When i alone in GTA Online, i have 80 fps. But if some players join in my session, GTAO dropped ~40 fps. It's very sad! I hear what netcode devs from R* in India. I think they have big problems with network. In 2015 there was all ok (i test it).

So I gave it a try, and it turns out all that "mod" really did was to edit the settings.xml file, which is something I could've, and had done myself. It was an utter waste of time. But thanks for the answers anyway.
