There's really no good reason not to set access to Everyone imo. It can always be temporarily revoked on the occasions somebody just takes off with tour vehicle.

 

I like to let new players try cool stuff like my Thruster, Oppressor, Khanjali, aircraft etc. Though sometimes generosity backfires and they end up owing you a relatively hefty insurance bill...

The other day I had a random jump into my Insurgent Pick-up, he was rank 46 and I set it to Passengers just to be safe so he wouldn't kick me out of it. At some point I jumped out and he managed to man the MG, with which he shot me dead lol

No, but seriously, I usually have it set to Everyone and if I see, or suspect, that someone will steal it, I change it while they're in it. But I facepalmed pretty hard when that Johnny Rando shot me down...

On the flip side I'll often end up stealing someone's car when I just meant to be passenger

I will also steal someone's car in a contact mission to get to my personal aircraft faster

Yup. I even give my vehicles to other people. Just yesterday i see a guy playing Smugglers Run on his own. He was getting whacked pretty hard by enemy A.I in buzzards while trying to get his supplies back to his hangar, but he was stranded in the middle of nowhere. So i went over in my oppresser and gave it to him so he could get his supplies back to his hangar.

 

I also give low rank players all my stuff if they want to try anything out or when i'm leaving a room i leave them with whatever they want really. Don't know how long they get to use it once i've left the room mind.

If I'm not in my car, that means it abandoned somewhere, may be far away, open for everyone. Some people enjoy riding or flying my vehicles while I'm busy with free mode mambo jambo. When need it, I know how to retrieve it anyway.

Nope. Passenger access only. 

To many randoms who went for a test drive totalled my cars and left me in the middle of nowhere without a ride.

Only exception are my crewmates. But even they have to ask before I unlock my car.

In freeroam, sure. They usually end up killing themselves, getting killed, or blowing up my car. 

 

Plus it’s fun to change my vehicle access to no one and watch someone flying my Oppressor careen into the side of a building

I never really get to offer rides or loan out vehicles, either I'm playing solo or I'm trying to spectate some action and someone starts shooting at me just for being in the neighborhood.

 

I did steal another player's PV once, back in noob days.

I was trolling for brightly colored Sentinels to sell, and saw some dudes pull up at a building and go in, leaving the car outside unattended.

It was too tempting, so I thought I'd see if I could sell it at LSC, thinking probably not, but let's see what happens.

The door at LSC wouldn't open and the message "you can't modify other players' vehicles" came up, and then the guy booted me from the car.

 

Anyway, the guys had a laugh, thinking I was trying to mod his car.

I ended up stealing a random Ocelot and selling that and continuing on my merry way.

 

So, if you're on here, sorry, I was just messing around.

I did drive the car super carefully to LSC, so it wasn't all banged up or anything.

My vehicle access has been set to 'everyone' since 2015.    Who cares?    I've got everything worth having, and don't mind sharing.   I don't care if somebody steals it and wrecks it, because, hey, then you at least know you have it coming if i'm in the mood to come and wreck you in return.     I almost always play nice in freeroam (except when i'm doing VIP work -- then, you better stay away unless you wanna see an Akula momentarily appear behind you before you respawn), and if i've got low-level bodyguards, they often need a little equipment upgrade in order to be up to snuff.      And who is ever really stuck anywhere anymore, now that we can teleport to the high-end apartment AND the facility anytime we want?

 

Besides, if you never let anybody steal your jetpack, how are you supposed to enjoy kicking them out of it in mid-air and letting them pay the insurance cost?    (which is the funniest trolling tip i've gotten from these boards...lol)

I let them drive if I came up to them of my own accord or if they ask (which is rare but does happen sometimes), no problem. But if some random tries to take my car without my permission while I'm distracted doing something else, nine out of ten times I'll just kill them. It's rude!

I once landed my pink hydra at the beach to buy some masks and a random asked if he could take it for a ride. So i let him on a condition that he please return it to me after he's done. Needless to say he flew it right into the ocean screaming "oh sh*t where's the vtol button?!" LOL poor guy

Yeah sometimes I even look for friendly low levels and let them drive my PV, usually it's the buccaneer or the deluxo.

Yes often. When i see really low ranked players i go to them with the most expensive vehicles and let them drive / fly / use them!

I let people drive my cars, yes.  I even go as far as to put sticky bombs on them so they can see the flashing light and know they're being invited.

All the time, it incentivizes joining my org and fights the stereotype of a "toxic player base".  Always unlock during heists, so that rando who is afk at the beginning can drive something fast or armored while he/she catches up. If access to my Duke o Death can save some low level, then I'm all for it. I have no doubt I have given some players a much needed and unexpected edge while they were being trolled.

If they show interest in it, have complimented it, or I'm otherwise not using it, sure.  Usually happens with my X80 Proto.  It's an expensive car, so I figure if they wanna try it out and see if they want to buy one of their own, then sure.  99% of the time, however, my vehicle permissions are set to 'Passenger.'

 

Most of the time I prefer to fly my own air vehicles, though.
