About:

 

Apparently, at one point during SA's development, R* intended the Jetpack and the Cellphone to display their own unique weapon icons when they were used.

This feature might have been removed from the game before release, but the weapon icons were left in the game files from development and can be restored rather easily.

 

Judging by the look, feel and quality of these unused weapon icons, these were most likely cut on the very last minute of development.
This modification faithfully restores the Jetpack and Cellphone icons by using the same native functions which the game uses for drawing actual weapon icons.

 

Known Issues:

 

The Jetpack icon only appears when you use the Jetpack without any one-handed weapons and the icon appears due to fastman92's Limit Adjuster. Not really an issue.
CJ does not use the rocket launcher movement animations when wielding a rocket launcher. This is an issue of fastman92's Limit Adjuster.

 

The sounds that play when CJ punches a pedestrian while wielding the Parachute are broken. Again, this is an issue of fastman92's Limit Adjuster.
The animations that the pedestrians use if CJ punches them while wielding the Parachute are incorrect. Yet again, this is an issue of fastman92's Limit Adjuster.

 

Installation:

 

1. Download and install Silent's ASI Loader from gtagarage.com/mods/show.php?id=21709 or the Ultimate ASI Loader from github.com/ThirteenAG/Ultimate-ASI-Loader/releases.
2. Download and install CLEO for SA from cleo.li.
3. Download and install Mod Loader from gtagarage.com/mods/show.php?id=25377.

 

4. Download and install fastman92's Limit Adjuster from fastman92.com.
5. Put the provided "CLEO" folder into your SA directory, with all it's contents still in it.
6. Create a new folder inside the "modloader" folder and name it "Jetpack and Cellphone Icons".

 

7. Put the provided "data" folder into the newly-created "Jetpack and Cellphone Icons" folder.

8. Open "fastman92limitAdjuster_GTASA.ini" with a text editor and find the following line:

 

#Enable weapon type loader = 0

 

9. Change this line to:

 

Enable weapon type loader = 1

 

10. Find the following line:

 

#Weapon type loader, number of type IDs = 70

 

11. Change this line to:

 

Weapon type loader, number of type IDs = 71

 

12. Open "gtasa_weapon_config.dat" with a text editor and copy and paste the following line at the bottom of the file:

 

70    CELLPHONE                           -1         1                          0                       1                       69   69    69   1.0            

 

These next two steps are only necessary if ID number 70 is already assgined to another weapon.

 

13. Once the line given above has been pasted into "gtasa_weapon_config.dat", look for the first free ID and change the "70" in the added line to that one.
14. Open "SA.JetpackAndCellphoneIcons.ini" with a text editor and change the "CellphoneWeaponID" setting to match the ID assigned to the Cellphone.

Thanks! But remember that this mod is still in an experimental stage so post any bugs you find and I'll attempt to fix them, but it's completely bug-free to me, however.

 

True Fact: I wrote this mod without even THINKING of looking at the TTDISA code.

Can you remove useless modgarage icons in around the map?

Update for Restored Icons:

 

* The icons are now perfectly shaped and sized, just like the vanilla weapon icons.
* The icons are now well-placed, I had to do a lot of by-hand measuring (literally) for the most perfect position.
* Added a proper "player holding Cellphone" check (thanks MKKJ!) and thus, the Cellphone icon appears exactly when CJ pulls out his phone (just like in TTDISA).
  And so, that old, sticky and stupid "player performing 'phone_talk' animation check" workaround is now gone.

 

* Fixed the Jetpack\Cellphone icon turning into a white square before disappearing.
* The icons no longer appear when the HUD is off, the screen is fading or the widescreen borders are on (again, thanks MKKJ!).

 

All file names in the mod have been changed, so make sure to uninstall any other previous versions of the mod you have installed, here's how to do it:

 

1. Go into the "CLEO" folder inside the folder where you have installed SA.
2. Delete the "CellphoneIcon.cs" and "JetpackIcon.cs" files.
3. Go into the "models" folder.
4. Go into the "txd" folder.
5. Find and delete the "icons.txd" file.

 

Here is a feature that I'll implement sooner or later:

 

* Weapon icon orientation (kind-of thing); the script will check the REAL weapon icon's position, add some coordinate units and draw the icons next to it.

 

Now that this mod is out of experimental stages, I can finally relax in peace.

Okay, let's stuff some fixes into Restored Icons:

 

* Script code now uses local variables (thanks to @Silent for the assistance), thus completely fixing compatibility and adding lots of stability.

* The icons now use the same size values @DeeZire used in TTDISA.

 

OP updated, go get the latest version!

I've been looking a mod like this. I use widescreen fix and I change the icons to a more HD one (128x128) so it looks bigger than the original weapon icon but, cheers!

New update for Restored Icons:

 

* Merged "SA.CellphoneIcon.cs" and "SA.JetpackIcon.cs" into one single script file named "SA.RestoredIcons.cs", which will (hopefully) cause lesser memory usage(?).
* Text drawing now remains enabled as long as the textures are appearing.
* Fixed every single major and minor bug within the script code.

 

* Changed the memory address values to (better-looking) hexadecimal ones.
* The script code is now a lot more simplified and compact.
* Fixed the constant "getting" of the player actor handle.

 

IMPORTANT NOTE: If you still have "SA.CellphoneIcon.cs" and "SA.JetpackIcon.cs" from any previous versions of this mod in your SA directory's CLEO folder, delete them immediately!

It's not a "right-click and click 'Save as' to download" kind of link, my friend:). Click on the link, go to the site and DL it from there. If tinyupload.com doesn't work in your country, then I'm afraid I cannot help you.

Okay, so the SA version of Widescreen Fix received an update today which included fixes for the SCM-drawing functions. Can someone ([cough]@Inadequate[cough]) test out my mod with that fix and see how it works? Thank you:).

ThirteenAG really hates WinXP, for some reason. And thus, WS FIX doesn't work on my PC.

* Entire modification reimagined and rebuilt. This new version uses fastman92's Limit Adjuster which allows the Jetpack and Cellphone icons to display using native HUD functions!
* As a side effect of the weapon icons displaying natively, Widescreen Fix is now supported!
* Modification name changed to "Jetpack And Cellphone Icons".

could yo put an option in the .ini that alows the icons appear in place of the default iconss? (so we do not have 2 icons at the same time) and in that case, that the jetpack icon doesnt appear when you ride it while having a micro smg/pistol

This exact "two icons" thing you're talking about has been done away with. The game now treats the Jetpack and the Cellphone like real weapons and displays their HUD icons like other weapons.:)

cool! one last thing, not only is the mod compatible with the widescreen fix, but with the mobile hud mod? and its there anything worth picking from the unnoficial update that mister Junior_Dir did?
