Cars that don't spin

I've noticed some players' cars don't spin, irrelevant of how they crash.  How do you unlock that?

There's nothing like that in the game, how do you mean "how they crash"? I think you've just noticed a coincidence.

I'm afraid I don't quite understand your question either. Can you explain the problem in more detail?

All I can say is, the cars themselves vary dramatically in weight, torque, and handling parameters (far beyond mere top speed), and that of course affects their response in crash situations.

There are also some customizations further affecting handling, like different suspension settings. Your rising online rank will unlock certain items in Los Santos Customs, if that helps.

And some drivers are just very experienced in keeping their vehicle under control 😉

When I crash such that the front corner of my car hits, my car spins.  Yet when I've been in higher level player's cars and they crash in the same way, their car just slows down a bit, but remains straight.

Like I said, if you can rule out things simply boiling down to different cars (my Duke o' Death stops at almost nothing, where some of my civilian sport cars indeed spin out quite easy when hitting obstacles, and I am quite a consistent driver), then I can only offer as further explanations:

- The actual 'Driving Skill' bar (from stats) may contribute to the stability of the car, but I am not entirely sure about this. I know that full skill affects how good you can "steer" a car when airborne, I don't know how much and in what way the skill applies modifications to ground performance, however.

- there is also constant discussion about how much the choice of tires affects the car handling. Overall, off-road tires seem to apply more grip in many situations, so maybe it's that.

I'd honestly have to see a video of 'the car crashing and spinning' and then another video of 'the car crashing and not spinning' to actually understand what on Earth's being talked about here.

OP will never post anything that helpful. They're on ps4, so it can't be mods. Probably just doesn't know anything about car control.

I'm on PC.  It could be an attribute of the car, I don't know because I haven't driven them all.  But I'm not talking about car control, I'm talking about the car literally not requiring control, because it can be crashed any which way and still remain perfectly straight.  If their car control was that good, they wouldn't crash in the first place.

With NPC drivers finding ever more creative ways to "get us", I don't quite subscribe to that last statement 😉 And if my car was more or less crash-safe, as there are some, I wouldn't bother much about avoiding crashes anyway when I'm in a hurry; some cars by the way handle more difficult when you make sudden steering movements, the point being: they are unstoppable as long they remain in that straight line, yet easy spin out when too hastily thrown around.

About "not requiring control" - driving skill is a bit like dancing: The best dancers just make the action look effortless, yet it is anything but.

Anyway: If we're talking about PC, then of course there is always a possibility of a mod having been applied, and you are right in being suspicious. Yet you asked for (in-game) unlocks, and there is nothing of the kind apart from all the different factors already mentioned that contribute to the stability of a vehicle.

(Again, I can cite my Duke O'Death in this respect: The car is extremely powerful for its size, more or less unstoppable in everyday traffic crash situations. It can pass crashes straight in a line entirely undisturbed, and sometimes it would even launch the other car into the air. I think the Armored Kuruma is of the same kind, although I have not driven that for a long time)

Sorry, I really wished I could say something more enlightening here but like has already been mentioned, without some footage bringing details as to situation, cars involved etc., I don't think we'll get a grip on this issue.

It's far easier to avoid a crash than somehow prevent a car spinning 360deg in quarter of a second after one.  These cars just go arrow straight, even if they catch a corner, not a single degree of spin and barely any speed loss.

As long as it's 360° I don't see the problem :) (Sorry, couldn't resist some cockiness)

Again, looking at my DoD, I have to disagree outright. Some collisions I take deliberately in this car, for I know it will just plough through, while it can indeed become a bit tail happy when I suddenly steer out of course, e.g. to avoid the same collision.

But my main point by now: The way you describe it, this is very likely a mod, I don't know anything about it, and we still have no chance to ensure whether we have both even the same picture in mind, so I don't see this getting anywhere

Its absolutely dependent on the car. Also, its pixel-perfect forces. One example would be barriers on stunt track. They are known to either stop you completely, spin you or bounce you back onto the track.

Also PC, says a lot.

Could just be lag or desync. Sometimes you see someone hit a wall then magically end up back on the road without experiencing what should have been a bad crash.

Max your driving stat and see if it still happens.

Also, don't hit barriers.
