Lioshenka
So I bought myself a collection of GTAs, all discs are looking good with no scratches. However, GTA3 freezes during the intro cutscene on the Claude's newspaper shot. Skipping the video doesn't help either, it freezes on the Loading screen. Controller remains unresponsive. Suspect faulty disc, but has anyone got any more ideas? Going to ask a chap in the game shop in town to play it, to see if it works on his console. Guest
Do game shops still do those disc cleaning/repairs? Been a while since I've used that service but it was only a few quid last I remember.
Lioshenka
I think ours does. If noone has a better solution, will ask in the shop.
Inadequate
It seems that your disc is damaged in someway. Or isn't your PS2 console? It works with any other GTA disc?
Lioshenka
Just now, Inadequate said: It seems that your disc is damaged in someway. Or isn't your PS2 console? It works with any other GTA disc? Yes, the other 4 games work fine.
ViceBoy69
Its most likely a faulty disc but ps2's do tend to misread discs as they get older, especially the fat versions, the newer slim versions use better lenses in the dvd drive than early ones. Back in the early days it was common for a ps2 to be returned to sony for not reading discs and to be repaired. For now just try another copy see how you get on
gts.
As ViceBoy69 suggested already, try with another GTA3 copy. Or if you want try to open up your PS2 and clean the lens. GTA_CAT
GTA_CAT
I cleaned the lens and also dust in some pieces and it worked better. It takes just 15 min, but you have to be careful. Edit: actually I bought few years ago a 2nd hand GTA VCS and happened the same as you. I cleaned, polished and tried all but nothing worked, just had to buy another one.
