Heavy revolver mkII + FMJ rounds = underwhelmed

What am I missing here? All I read on this was that this + FMJ rounds would make it a great 'anti-vehicle' weapon (IE take down copters, npc cars, etc quickly) but I empted 5 full clips (30 rounds) into a random npc chunkermobile (some volvo copy, ie, something no player would actually ever want lol) and that npc kept on driving around with 30 rounds in the engine block.

Did I read it wrong somewhere, did I just waste a huge chunk of money on a useless upgrade? Should I have just gone with hollow point for an epic NPC killer (I am free aim and find even now the AP pistol better than any mkII variant for player kills when using from a car)

Should I instead have gone with incendiary rounds?

(my plan was like what most do, hvy sniper + explosive, pump shotty + explosive, Combat MG + fmj, and hvy revolver + fmj)

EDIT: bear in mind im totally legit, 'welfare' player, I do not buy shark cards, and I grind cash slowly (IE maybe 100-200k a day IF i really push) - i play cuz i enjoy playing, and I never have more than 100-200k at any given time lol, so even 'minor' costs like this hit me pretty hard.

Well if you're "totally legit" then wasn't the thing you were reading up about labelled as a glitch? Pretty sure that's what people refer to when they're saying that the Revolver with FMJ rounds is a beast when it turns into a fully automatic, rapid firing nightmare for anyone on the receiving end...

Anyway, it would normally set a completely stock car on fire after just a few shots, so either something got bugged or the shots weren't going to the engine bay?

This is just to demonstrate what it's like normally:

Could have been shooting a players Fagoloa with 100% armor but it still would have been toast after 30 rounds.

Sounds like a bug to me.

O.O turns to fully automatic? wtf? I've never, ever heard that, and ive been doing a LOT of reading about mkII weapons...LOL this is honestly the first I've heard of this.

Incendiary is where it's at for me. Nothing lights up those dark corners like a screaming NPC.

It's a glitch. If you can glitch out the revolver in first person where it shoots in the idle position, the last shot in the chamber will be a "glitch" shot and cause the revolver to shoot about 200 rounds from the revolver as fast as the minigun for 2 seconds (essentially ruining any vehicle).

jessie, that would cost a freaking ton in ammo lol.

Nah, ive never heard that even with all my searching, but id' never even have stumbled upon that anyways since i never play in first person.

It does cost a lot in ammo (since it literally drains ammo from your reserves plus that shot)

You should look it up and watch a YouTube video on it -- it's worth a try and is pretty fun by yourself IMO.

I only have FMJs in my MG mkII for a cheap way to take down choppers and the odd occasion when I need to shoot through bulletproof glass. Aforementioned glitch aside, they don't strike me as a good choice for a slow-firing gun like the revolver.

The same glitch works with the Regular Double-Action revolver and sometimes it can even manage to one-shot Hydra. Not consistent though.

As for the ammo, for some uknown reason, all my FMJ ammo is somehow glitched and it's being restored every time I change the session. I'm not sure how I managed to end up like this, but I'm very pleased with the outcome :3

You’re much better off switching to hollow point rounds. It’s a one shot kill up close and two at a distance, always. Much more useful.

For nearby enemies, it feels like an off switch

I have incendiary rounds on mine. Works great as anti-personnel, as it will almost always drop any NPC the first time, and even if they're wearing armor, still sets them on fire. Even if it doesn't kill them the first shot it makes them drop to the ground and scream about burning to death, so they stop shooting you and become an easy target.

Yeah I have that too. Still doesn't make up for all the ammo I've lost after playing sh*tversary modes.

Only in auto-aim. Pretty useless in freeaim in my opinion.

yea from using the revolver, even the mkii variant, the re-fire rate makes it pretty much useless in pvp considering you can't 'adjust' for a players movements (u can for npcs) the AP pistol is still far more effective, and (while I have yet to actually even buy the mkI variant) the SMG's, because of the ability to fire alot, quick, allow for easier placement of shots where you need them.

Against vehicles on the other hand, I felt that the revolver (with its much higher damage per shot, and range) would be a good use, hence the FMJ ammo. Just can't get it to 'click' for me as it does for others, sadly. (Ive tested again and I still have trouble justifying the cost of ammo with the revolver vs the MG when using special ammo)

It's no longer a one hit kill, that got changed in the latest patch -- it's now a 2 shot up close.

That breaks my heart, I hadn’t noticed, for a while it was my only anti-hydra defense.

Rockstar loves their Hydra/Oppressor/Deluxo griefers.

As much as everyone hates research and explosive rounds, put some time and effort (personally I wouldn't fast-track as I can do other things as the bunker staff research, but that's your decision) into researching and buying explosives rounds for your Heavy Sniper MKII. Hydras, Lazers and Deluxos won't be able to touch you. If the pilot is bad, some combat helicopters are toast too.

Appreciate the advice, I do have those rounds, I just have really bad aim against jets. They’re obviously great for nearly anything though, you’re very right. Close up, explosive shotgun rounds (maybe should be my new go-to post Hollowpoint nerf) are nice too. I don’t mind the price either, I really only fight when provoked so I don’t go through rounds fast.

i just used to like taking out a deluxo agressor without paying the insurance for him, but all good things must come to an end eventually.

You want to blow up PVs without incurring insurance? Simple. Start a VIP Work. Unsure if there are some that this doesn't work with but the majority allow you to destroy PVs without paying insurance for any. Some may disable police temporarily too.

If you need to work on your aim with snipers, I'd suggest doing missions and sniping moving AI. You can also ask a friend to help you with your aim as well.

Well, not just for the sake of it, but more in the sense that I don’t like paying someone’s premium when I’m just defending myself.

However, both of those suggestions would up my defensive effectiveness so I’ll take em, thanks man!

afaik 'best' way to avoid insurance/BS is to buy 1 crate for $2000, you get 30 mins to f*ck around then. I do it occasionally when a lobby has annoyed me.

Or run Fully Loaded and get reported a bunch for your god mode Ruiner :D
