Tycek
Ah, Doom Eternal - one of the games I had to force myself to play. I'm sorry to rain on Your parade, but it was in my opinion one of the most unpleasant games I have played recently. Technically it was all dandy, game was running smooth, without any issues. I don't recall it to freeze or crash even a single time. Graphics were nice and sharp even on my heavily outdated Xbox One. But in gameplay aspects that game is just heavy hit or miss for me, like the devs throw in everything they've found or come up with in the process. Story was not very interesting and hard to follow, especially when I felt that something was missing between this game and its predecessor. There was an abundance of various platformer elements, which are not fitting nor necessary in a Doom game. If I would like to play Super Mario, I'll start Super Mario. And to make it even less bearable logical puzzles how to kill various enemies were tiring and could lead to conditional blocker, when You were using all the ammo (which is always in low numbers) and staying with aranchotron and no way to kill it. Thankfully that was happening only at the beginning, when You have like shotgun with almost no ammo to begin with. I'm not a fan of the plastic looking weapons, with unnecessary elements to make them more kitschy (skulls or chains on rocket launcher) or strange looking upgrades for Doom Slayer (floating crystals or coins). In Doom 2016 the world was much for believable in my opinion and it looked like it could work before whole hell invasion and arrival of Doom Slayer. In Doom Eternal many elements were made with no particular idea in mind, other than being colorful and kitschy. Doom from 2016 was very cool game and worthy reimaging of classical Doom ideas. I've completed it twice and had fun every time doing it. Doom Eternal however is in my opinion perfect game for Xbox Game Pass. To play it, complete it and forget about it. This is just like when Crash Team Racing: Nitro-Fueled (which I still wish was released on PC) added microtransactions a month after the game's launch depsite the reviews praising the game for not having them.
