Pretty sure you need to get acquainted with Just Cause 2 ASAP. The beleaguered citizens of Panau need your help!

Exactly how I feel.  I keep talking myself out of buying it.

Honest to goodness - I just got home from work and was thinking "I'll buy it tonight so I have something fresh to play"...and opened this thread.

I'm totally going to try and wait for a sale.

It's been almost a month since the game received its first patch. Quite disappointing.

I guess when Summer arrives there will be a good deal and the game will have been patched one or two more times.

You should be curious about playing it. I am.

You have exactly the right approach. Bad business practices can't exist unless a business exists. And a business can't exist unless people support and fund the business. While no one likes bad ratings, you cannot expect a business to stop doing something that is making money.

I'll be playing Just Cause 4, but only when the game--the entire game--is available in the bargain bin. Because I want the practices I'm seeing more and more of--and to a worse and worse degree--to be wiped off the face of the earth. I want businesses to change their behavior, and the only way I can make that happen is by changing my behavior. My spending behavior.

I played Just Cause 2 years ago and I really liked it. I must have sunk in over 100 hours into that game. I bought Just Cause 3 when it was released, and never really got into it. I think I maybe played 4 hours at most.

Does anyone think this game is worth getting for someone that liked JC2 but didn't like JC3?

Maybe my taste has changed but I liked the story better, and I felt as if the map variety was better in terms of scenery and climate.

There isn't much that appeals to me but I might pick up the game at some heavy discount just for a certain Easter Egg.

Yeah, I felt that Just Cause 2 was exactly what it was supposed to be, and succeeded marvelously at being itself.

I've already written elsewhere about how I didn't get into it at all, at first. Basically, Just Cause 2 didn't do anything for me at first because it was so unlike what I was used to. And before I knew it, it sucked me in because it was so unlike what I was used to.

I like the story too, but more so the characterizations. They are both wacky and over-the-top, just as they should be. It's a game about a guy with a magical grappling hook and a tiny backpack that holds a thousand parachutes. How would anyone who actually played and loved Just Cause 2 think that the game needed to become serious?

I agree that Just Cause 2 has a nice environmental variety. And the sheer size of the world is one of the biggest advantages the game has. Really, that was a huge reason that I eventually got the urge to experience more than the demo--my imagination was captivated by what might be found beyond the small area of desert that the demo confined me to. I could see all of it out there in the distance, waiting for me. I've played Just Cause 2 three times and there are still large areas of the lowlands and city especially that I haven't fully explored.

Why don't you do what I do in this situation? Just put Just Cause 4 on your "Games of Interest" list along with a bargain bin price at which you'll be willing to purchase. Then put the game on your wishlist on Steam, Fanatical, Green Man Gaming, Humble Bundle, etc. so that you'll get emails when it's on sale, and don't really worry about the game again until the price is right.

A company should never, ever be financially rewarded for releasing a dysfunctional product, but as long as enough people do reward them they will keep doing just that.

Dude, What did you use to take these picture a potato? You're playing on a new gen console why didn't you use screenshot options? Even on PC you can take a screenshot using the built-in Game Bar in Windows which is WIN + ALT + PrtScrn or even just PrtScrn and then save it using Paint or can use Gyazo which also allows you to make Gifs.

If you have a Nivida Graphics Card then download GeForce Experience which has built in video recording and screenshots

Anybody else experience a Slow Motion bug of sort where after getting blown up in a vehicle you go flying high into the air and all the sudden the game goes into Slow Motion mode and just stays there and I can't back out of it as it won't let me pause the game or go back to the main menu or anything.

It only seems to happen after an explosion in which I should probably die from it, As it flings me high into the air and then just a slow tumble down to the ground this last one it took me almost two minutes from the time the helicopter blew up until I touched the ground

So nobody else is having this issue? I've asked on Steam and I attempted to ask on the dev website but couldn't even register an account, Aside from this issue I like the game while I do agree I too am a little disappointed in it but so far it's fun and actually playable unlike JC3 where I spent $100 buying Gold Edition to get all the cool gear only for the game to be unplayable due to massive stuttering that dropped my FPS from 60 to 0 but the final straw for JC3 was I couldn't do any of the DLC missions as the robot wouldn't pick up objects needed to move to the next level of a mission

I am not going to lie, I am a little disappointed with it. I am not that far in but it seems they completely removed the way the game progression worked in previous games. I really loved the idea of military bases and towns needing to be "cleared" by destroying red labeled objects obtaining a 100% marker for that location and having it be cleared, this was satisfying clearing them with more and more OP weapons in the later game. Knowing that now you have some awesome rocket launcher or an ability to destroy things that costs no ammo, looking so forward to using it to clear areas. Now it seems these "chaos" objects aren't tied to anything anymore and they respawn which drives my OCD mad. And now the way you progress is doing mundane and simple stunt jumps as well as generic copy and pasted breakout side missions by escorting NPC's out of prisons in bases. It feels like the whole concept of blowing everything up in the entire universe has been replaced with doing stunts, helping NPC's on their first day out as a rebel and tedious sh*t that in no way supports insane destruction.

They also dumbed down the weapons to the max, there are basically no standard conventional weapons, the assault rifle, SMG, Shotgun, DMR, and burst rifle all are high tech black hand weapons that have alternate fire modes and these are limited and run out of ammo quickly. I keep seeing a normal pump shotgun in the cutscenes but am unsure that I will ever find one in the world. They completely removed the sidearms from the game so I often am running around with no guns as I ran out of ammo with rockets, which in this type of game is f*cking stupid. Not only should you have some fun hand cannons on your belt but they should be infinite ammo at this point as it doesn't matter regardless as if they don't explode objects they can't be OP, so you may as well let us have some sawn off or something to easily clear out enemies. So the weapons kind of blow dongs. I am not impressed in the slightest.

The menus, map and customization of the grapple are kind of confusing, I feel like there are almost too many options and I always have too many things applied and the grapple often doesn't work how I want it to most of the time, but still, the driving has been improved and is really fun for once and the usual fun is still there, I did actually laugh a lot on a quad bike just hitting the jump and boost buttons just hopping constantly upside-down and all up a building. The fun is still there, I just have no f*cking idea why they changed the way the game worked.

I also miss my bavarium wingsuit...

Hopefully things may get better the further I get through the game, at the moment I am a bit hesitant to bother with anything other than messing around with objects. It's like one of those games like Watch Dogs 2, where the messing around mechanics were much more fun than the actual missions and tasks it asked you to do, so you end up just not progressing anything because its far more boring than just dicking about.

You more or less thumbed up what I feel as well, The best part of the JC Series was just wreaking havoc across a military base which then would lead you to spend three more hours jumping from town to town, base to base blowing everything up to kingdom come, I didn't get to do much of that in JC3 because of the games performance issues on PC making it unplayable so was hoping JC4 would be my opportunity at a reprieve to go nuts with impunity.

There was a little red flag for me regarding JC4 just how little publicity the game actually got if anybody remembers JC3 was hyped to the max even before it was officially announced at E3 but with JC4 if I remember correctly it was a small announcement with an accompany trailer with an expected delivery date, a friend of mine who is a die-hard JC fan been playing since the very first didn't even know there was a JC4 until he came over to visit one day and I was playing it.

I noticed that. It also seemed to me like the "cover art"--the Rico & lightning bolt & bland white text--looked really generic, like something that was quickly thrown together. Am I the only one who thought that?

Where did you get those pictures from then? and why did you decide to use such horrible ones?

Current Gen refers to any console that can play the most current games out there such as Just Cause 4

Game Bar is a built-in Video/Screenshot recorder in all windows 10 PC - Settings > Gaming and this screen will come up and once turned on it'll automatically turn on everytime you open a game on your PC

I think a Steam user posted them, but I don't recall. The purpose of the pictures was not to frame them and hang them in the Louvre--it was to demonstrate the issues the game has. That's all they need to do and they do that admirably. The overall visual quality of those pictures in no way changes the specific issues that they highlight, such as visual glitches, extremely low-resolution textures, poor vegetation quality, N64-style train tracks, etc.

Yeeeesss...I'm well aware of that, which is why I used the term 'current gen console'. You, on the other hand, used the term 'new gen console', which is somewhat odd, considering that this generation is over 5 years old--hardly new.

In fact it will not turn on every time I open a game on my PC, as I do not run Windows 10.

Like I said about 'Print Screen' originally: "I've done that, but I don't think it works on DirectX 11 or later." On most newer games, it results in a black screen. That is why I mentioned FRAPS, as FRAPS worked when the clipboard didn't.

I use Photoshop when I need to reduce the file size of an image, by saving at a higher compression rate. I would imagine there are less expensive and maybe free programs that allow one to select the level of JPEG compression, but I don't know of any off-hand.

Is there any point of me finishing this game?

I have unlocked like 30% of the map and so far every single mission is tedious as f*ck, not designed in the spirit of the just cause chaos style. I keep getting the same repetitive mission types. Which I keep failing because of poor friendly AI. Taking over bases, extremely non-fun, having to dart around the bases pressing consoles hacking sh*t, to get doors open to blow up generators, or escorting some prick hacker that forces you to take them in a vehicle and then protect them, when the game is designed around everything blowing up and everything being overly sensitive. Or I do a Sargento mission and I have to babysit rebels on their first day out. c*nts that won't fire rockets at sh*t and no way to make them. End up getting hit by enemy helicopters and crash because they didn't give me any f*cking guns to fire with. What in the f*cking world made the devs think that would be more fun than just giving me an attack chopper to go obliterate some area instead?

Do any of these missions get better?

Are there any unlocks that are vital to having some actual fun?

Do I ever upgrade my ammo capacity so I have a gun for longer than 0.3 seconds?

Do I ever get the bavarium wingsuit back?

This is why I like to "Borrow Games" that i'm unsure of before purchasing them and JC4 is the perfect example of saving me from money being wasted as I feel the exact same way as you do on how boring and repetitive this game is...

The devs really dropped the ball with this version which is sad because the last three were awesome and because JC3 was a disappointment for me as I was never really able to play it I was hoping JC4 would make up for it....

NOPE and no amount of mods could make it any better

So JC4 came to Game Pass, which made me re-new my sub when I found out.

I've only played JC4 briefly and I'm enjoying it so far. And while I take Daz's points about blowing sh*t up, I kind of welcomed the new tasks to do. Blowing sh*t up was amazing fun and spectacular but it got really tedious trying to find all the things to complete a take-over. Again, I've only scraped the surface so I'm not really qualified yet to comment.

I was super skeptical about this game but I'm getting JC2 vibes from the look and the feel and the diverse map. Something that JC3 didn't have.

I think what you are feeling in relation to JC4 feeling like JC2 is probably the split biomes. I really hated that in 3 it was all just one giant brown southern europe styled map that got old fast. I really love the desert and I was missing that a lot. I think JC4 has a good map, it could still be better and I do get sick of some of the areas, the jungle areas remind me a lot of GR Wildlands and it starts to look all a bit too samey and depressing.

I have been playing a little further and I will clarify my previous points again to explain better.

For example. I have now hit a point where I can no longer take over any more land because I have ran out of squads to send to the "frontline". It seems the only way to get more of them is to level up the chaos level. But because I am already so high I have to tediously grind out finding chaos objects to blow up and then blowing them up, then quitting the game and relaunching in order to respawn most of them to try to gain more experience. And at the moment there is no way to effectively do this fast except for in an attack helicopter. So instead of in JC2 or JC3 floating around a base using the equipment, vehicles, or environment to progress by overthrowing the specific base or town that was finite. Now I have to tediously grind my way to the next chaos level randomly, boringly and tediously with no actual direction, just blowing sh*t up for the sake of it, which takes a long time. Much longer than if I had just been taking out a specific base. Now it takes 4 or 5 whole mega bases worth of objects and each level I only can then advance 1 more area. Where as at the start of the game it felt like I constantly had squads to deploy and take over areas. Maybe you get a bunch at a later story mission but I have hit a wall and it is far too tedious to grind out chaos objects just to get 1 more piece of land. If it were JC3, I could just progress without any restrictions.

And in relation to the boring missions. These tedious as hell dock takeovers. Wanting you to dump 10 vehicles into the water. They are all rigged with bombs yet somehow when they blow up it doesn't count despite the fact that should have taken care of it. They clip on the ground and get stuck before being able to properly launch them into the sea. If you do launch into the sea it somehow knows when you bail out and you lose all damn momentum and end up in the sea yourself a lot. You can't tether them because they just hit sh*t and blow up like they are made out of paper. I don't care what game it is, if there is a timed mission, it can f*ck right off. Forcing a time limit on your gameplay is never the right thing to do, it is never more fun than just doing something in your own time. The whole concept of this is just mindblowingly dull.

So if those aren't sh*t, then you have the Garland missions that are literally "drive this sh*t vehicle through checkpoints". Again, in no way is this fun even if it wasn't timed. This is Just Cause, why the flying f*ck would I want to drive a van for 10 minutes? In the previous game I don't think I ever used a vehicle. I miss that freedom. Often it takes you through checkpoints that are off a random side of a bridge that you can't see coming up because you are trying to go too fast in order to hit the next checkpoint. Any ramps on this course your vehicle badly clips on and you don't get a proper jump. Even though the driving physics are improved this is really annoying and not fun.

As mentioned before, the "defend" strikes as well. Either some hacker you have to DRIVE through a base, instead of just letting them do their thing and you just go off and fight, nope you have to get some weak ass ground vehicle and drive them, not just fly there or fling the f*cker with a grapple, drive. Yeah real fun. Or there is some objective like "activate all these nodes within 30 seconds to open this door", "find specific vehicle to open this door", "defend this radar from swarms of drones and helicopters and try like hell to not let it blow up to sh*t straight away". All extremely boring and annoying sh*t to do.

This game isn't hard, but my god, how many times I have failed missions due to things I have to f*cking defend and stop from blowing up, or friendlies I have to stop from getting shot. I almost never fail missions in games I play, but in this game it is nearly impossible. The whole game world is one bump away from an explosion and that could fail you. All the weapons suck and are pretty much sub par in killing enemies, thats if you even have ammo. Why at this point in the game I don't have some infinite ammo rocket launcher, I have no damn idea.

Lastly f*cking enemies are so f*cking annoying. Mostly these f*cking snipers that track you while you are 1000 meters away whilst flying and still shoot you and make you do some stupid stumble animation that gets you caught in this stumble loop by some c*nt sniping you, some c*nt shooting you with a rocket/grenade/red barrel/etc and so many times have I just got my anus spread open and fisted because the AI just works on swarm mechanics and you really aren't given many decent abilities to dispatch them quickly enough. So many times I have just failed things because of just getting ragdolled around from multiple things and I can't physically do sh*t about it. Want to steal an enemy heli and take everyone out? Nope before I have even got in the door of it another heli shoots it and blows it up and I fall down to earth half dead, still being sniped at.

Lastly (for real this time) Why the f*ck is it that I can survive 3 explosions in my face, yet if I am gliding and hit the top of a lamp pole I instantly die?

The gameplay design needs a massive re-think. I am worried I will finish it and realize I never actually felt like the game started or that I had any decent equipment to have fun with.

The game can look nice at times though...

I was actually thinking the same today.

Anyways, ive downloaded JC4 also since it was included in the gamepass. I really liked JC3 eventhough it became quite repetative so I thought why not.

First impression is that the repetative gameplay is gone(only played 6 hours) which is a big improvement for me. By that I mean liberating a town over and over again or blowing up a base. But it might return to fill up the bar to get forces(I hope not).

The graphics are somewhat dissapointing, I do feel that JC3 was better overall. Things that remind me of the 360 days are the cutscenes, water and certain patches of grass.

But I guess I cant complain to much for $9,99. Im going to try and finish it incl all achievements aslong as the gameplay remains fun.
