The storms really got me excited for this game. Originally I was going to pass and wait for a sale like I did with 3.... but man this game looks fun!

@Shadowfennekin

The question is: Did you decide to pass and wait for a sale on JC3 before or after it released?

Saw this on my Twitter feed while checking news for other game. She addressed questions regarding the map.

All those questions and not a single question if enemies are going to be randomly spawn and keep spawning in the open world.

Gotta be honest, they're hyping the tornado too much so far. What else is there besides a cool tornado and some better destruction physics?

Lol--actually, now that I think about it, it reminds me of when Remedy first started talking about Alan Wake. All they did was go on about the Amazing Tornado, and...how there was a tornado. That blew stuff around.

Remember when they sold out to Microsoft? That was cool.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but it seems to me she's a paid advertiser, no? If not, she does a pretty good impression.

It's coming from Just Cause official channel. Don't know about herself individually, but I really don't think so.

Some of the environment look beautiful, NerdCubed posted another video and showcased a desert area

So aside from tornado, we have lightning that will strike the highest point/object, then blizzard. Also noted that desert will be the smallest area. That's good - area wise. How about the enemy though

Finally about enemy. I think it's quite alright and conceptually sounds capable to balance our flying terminator hero.

I don't own the game yet but I must say that this has got to be the greatest easter egg in any video game of all time!

The game seems pretty good, but I haven't had the time to even beat RDR 2 yet so I think I might wait for a sale.

It's just an insane amount of fun.  If you've liked the rest you'll like this.

You appear to lump all previous Just Cause games together into one homogeneous experience.

What about, for example, people who absolutely love Just Cause 2 but don't think Just Cause 3 is a very good game?

I think JC1 is a joke (I mean, it's way too limited and aged poorly.)

JC2 is great but feels clunky after playing JC3.

JC3 just requires a good computer, just upgraded and I'm having a blast.

JC4? I don't know. I'm totally out of money now. LMAO

It would appear I do, yes.  Apologies for that.  I'm assuming my experience upon everyone else, which is wrong.  I've loved them all and I love this one too.  The enjoyment increases exponentially for me.  I guess I wish the same for everyone else who plays them :)

Make no mistake, you said nothing that requires an apology. You lumped the first three games together, but you didn't make any assumptions about anyone else--you made it clear that if a person liked the rest he would like JC4.

I was simply wondering if you had anything to say about someone who loves JC2 but didn't think JC3 was going in the right direction overall.

By the way: Did anyone else know that JC2 was apparently developed by Avalanche Sweden, and JC3 and JC4 were developed by Avalanche New York? I just read that in a Steam review, and have to say that it makes a lot of things clearer to me. Except for one: Why did Sweden stop making Just Cause games?

It's getting absolutely pounded on Steam reviews. Apparently it crashes a lot, it looks like sh*t and most official screenshots are bullshots. Either that or something is wrong with the version they released. Stuff pops up out of nowhere and the UI is apparently horrible. Also, you can't remap WASD on PC.

It seems like this isn't the true successor to JC2 that I had hoped for.

Some of the early critic reviews didn't seem to mention the issues people are complaining about which is a bit strange although this wouldn't be the first time critics have been misleading. You'd think the devs would have learned to avoid a technical disaster after the last one.

I'm personally in the minority of people who actually enjoyed JC3 more than JC2 despite some of its flaws and I was hoping that this game would just be a more ironed out version of it. Doesn't seem like that's the case.

Sweden developed Mad Max and I believe they're working on Rage 2 now. I haven't played Mad Max, but I heard it was an incredibly well optimized game. Kinda sad that they can't bring that expertise into the newer Just Cause installments.

I think that may have been your mistake. I tried the Just Cause 2 demo and found it utterly blah-inspiring. I found the mechanics and controls painfully consolicious.

At the time though I had little else to do, so I eventually went back into the demo, which has a 30-minute time limit. I just messed around, trying to see what I could accomplish before the timer ran out.

Short story, after playing it long enough, I realized I wanted to experience more, and bought it. I've finished it four times since. That is by no means the first time that I disliked or even bounced off a game, only to try it once or twice more and end up loving it.

Oh, man...you and me both. All I have ever wanted since my first completion of JC2 in 2010 was more of the same....in a huge new world with a new over-the-top story, new wacky characters, and with the kinks worked out and even better graphical realism.

Really....I honestly thought that a successor to the JC2 formula was something that would have been difficult to screw up. JC2 didn't have the challenges inherent to a serious story or setting, or to a self-contained story arc that would make a sequel difficult to justify. It's not a fundamentally complex game, like an RPG for example. It had a unique and interesting "gameplay loop" that other games could not provide.

The gameplay mechanics were already defined. They only needed to be iterated on and improved...not swapped out and replaced. All they had to do is give us more Just Cause 2 with better technology...and more polish.

I always hope for great games, but I don't expect them anymore, and would never again give a publisher $60 on release. Way too many people don't want to hear this, but that is the reason for the state of the industry. Games used to derive their income over a period of time, with income rising, leveling off, and then falling, as word-of-mouth spread about how good a game was. The income had to be earned. Now income is front-loaded. Publishers know they will get the majority of their income within the first days or weeks, no matter what.

Most people just don't understand how their spending habits determine the very nature of the things they spend money on.

No it wasn't a mistake, i just found the game to be mehh, nothing special. Using the grappling hook and other stuff like that its just so damn stupid, it breaks game immersion for me. But i guess that without that it wouldn't be JC anyway.

Ill get this one when it comes in another Humble Bundle, it doesn't seem that it will take much time 😛

My main issue with Just Cause 2 was that destroying the bases got really repetitive, because of how all the destruction looked the same every time. I didn't bother playing that game for very long after beating the campaign. In JC3 all the chaos objects were physic-based so you could mess around with them more and create a bunch of chain-reaction explosions which was a lot more satisfying.

Picking up upgrade boxes as part of Settlement Completion was also hell. I'm glad they took this out of Just Cause in JC3.

But then, in JC4 they just took out upgrades for good.

I'd say you're probably right about that. Back in October JC3 was already down to $3.57 at Green Man Gaming, or $5.37 for the XL Edition.

I can't necessarily agree, though. What I mean is: Even though it isn't as much of an issue for me as it is for you, I get where you are coming from, and think that instead of removing something entirely, they could have determined a better way of doing it.

Just off the top of my head, there could be a device that helps locate them, but costs money every now and then to keep it charged. Or perhaps you have the option of paying an informant each time in order to provide a map with the general locations.

Not that those are the best ways, I'm just making the point that I don't necessarily think the mechanic itself was fundamentally flawed.

Upgrades for what?  If you're talking about gadget upgrades then that's probably the biggest part of the game.  When I first found out how they were included I was a bit put off, but once I started with them I was hooked.

They're talking about upgrade crates to upgrade health, vehicles and weapons in Just Cause 2.

Don't buy it at full price. Looking at this after playing RDR2 makes JC4 look like an Android game. Like seriously, wtf is up with devs and sh*tty graphics in AAA games? Why are we downgrading the graphics? RDR2 looks like a movie in comparison to some of the games that are out or coming out soon.

Not every dev has the money, people, or resources like R*. If you expect every game that comes out now and in the future to look like RDR2 you're gonna end up disappointed.

It looks like a 360 game. I can think of many older games that look better. Including JC3.
