Do vaccines cause autism?

I was just watching a video on this subject so I figured I'd post a topic about it. What do you think? Do vaccines cause autism? The argument is the mercury-based preservative thimerosal causes autism. It was phased out from routine childhood vaccines in the European Union, and a few other countries in response to the popular fear. Give me your take on this controversial subject.

The answer is "No" and leaving a topic like this open for discussion only encourages conspiracy theorists to sound more legitimate. There's literally no debate in the medical community so expanding it here accomplishes nothing.

This. There's absolutely no credible evidence suggesting any kind of correlation, much less any causal link, between vaccines and autism. The most prominent advocates of the theory have almost universally been disgraced as medical professionals.

 

The subject doesn't really warrant a D&D thread.
