Sombra
The caller of the assassination missions is generally referred to as "Mr. Black" however to the best of my knowledge "Mr. Black" is never spoken or referenced in game however is mentioned on the "crime tree" on the original VC website: No voice actor is listed on the casting for Vice City (https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0314123/fullcredits?ref_=tt_cl_sm#cast)) however when looking at the list there is a character listed as Stalker voiced by Will Morton who worked in the sound department for Rockstar. This is not the Love Fist stalker as that character is listed as "Psycho", so who is Stalker? The only reference I found to this character was on this IGN link; http://uk.ign.com/faqs/2005/grand-theft-auto-double-pack-grand-theft-auto-iii-grand-theft-auto-vice-city-characters-faq-510873 Stalker Name: ? a.k.a the Stalker Voice: Will Morton Gender: Male Well-Known Facts: ? The mysterious assasin who calls Vercetti to get to the payphones in these locations: The payphone next to the Wahington Mall in Washington Beach. The payphone in Vice Point. The payphone in the airport teminial in Little Havanna. The payphone behind Cherry Popper's in Little Havanna. Which lists "Stalker" as "Mr Black" albeit no proof or source. Is there any clarification on this out there? Edited June 5, 2018 by Blaze
spaceeinstein
Oh, that's something I didn't know. The "stalker" is only mentioned in the manual and not anywhere else. Edited June 5, 2018 by spaceeinstein
Typhus
Rockstar have been known to answer fan questions, has anyone ever asked them who voiced Mr. Black? All the years later, there'd be no harm in telling us. It's one of those little mysteries which has always bugged me about Vice City. Especially as I enjoyed the assassination missions so much, I always wished they had a more definitive ending, though. Perhaps with Black betraying Tommy for what happened to Leo. But as it is, the missions just kind of stop with no real resolution, and no further insight into Black's character.

This could also apply to stuff like what Darkel's cut GTA III missions exactly involved or who "Curtly" was (listed in the credits under Darkel, but the character never appeared), but instead of telling us by now they still stay quiet (or, in the case of them describing what was cut from GTA III after 9/11, they're as vague as possible in their descriptions). Weird how they'd call Mr. Black the "Stalker," I don't think he really did any kind of stalking, did he? Unless it's a mistake in the manual. If I had to guess, I'd say Will Morton most likely voices him. Looks like he's from Scotland and the accent of Mr. Black sounds kind-of Scottish. I think the missions ending abruptly kind of suit Mr. Black's character though. Nothing is known about him, he's just a mysterious guy who thinks Leo is still alive and well performing hits (and it is surprising that word never made it to him that Leo was dead) and then he just vanishes and never calls again. A true finale to them would have also been interesting though.
Carbonox
Were Darkel or Curtly's credited voice actors ever asked about what their planned roles would've entailed? As for Mr Black, I don't want to sound like a silly fanboy making wild guesses, but could his mission strand have been planned to have a proper ending? It bugs me how his last mission is called "Loose Ends" but nothing really gets resolved like the name implies, it's just an average shootout followed by a briefcase delivery. Playing his missions again, I keep getting the feeling that his voice actor was a member of staff at Rockstar, and something of an in-joke among them. It's just such a weird, obviously fake accent. Listening again, to me he sounds like a Scottish guy trying to do a bad impression of a German. Given how small of a role it is, no doubt it's one of their staff members. Kind of like a lot of the pedestrian voices in GTA III, some are very obviously Scottish people (some not even attempting to mask their accent) and some of the gang members are clearly white guys trying to sound black. Pretty sure Dan Houser and Lazlow themselves were the voices of the cab drivers in that game. Instead of hiring actors back then, they made do with their own staff and people around the office for the voices of a lot of NPCs.

Guest
nevermind i am a dumb dumb, "The Psycho" is the guy in the dress who you end up killing in Psycho Killer, and "The Stalker" is the guys voice on the tape in Publicity Tour. The voice on the tape sounds just like the one of the Killer, so he is voiced by Will Morton, and not by Hunter Platin. It's very strange, because IGN's description of the Stalker is clearly referred to Mr. Black: The payphone next to the Wahington Mall in Washington Beach. (Road Kill, Autocide) The payphone in Vice Point. (Waste the Wife) The payphone in the airport teminial in Little Havanna. (Check Out at the Check In) The payphone behind Cherry Popper's in Little Havanna. (Loose Ends)
spaceeinstein
That's not IGN's description. That's Jade-X's description and I don't know where that person got that information from. IGN just hosts the document. Sombra

Jimmy
The Stalker seems definitely the character related to the Publicity Tour tape. I don't see a reason why the mysterious assassination missions guy would be listed as a stalker. For all he knew, it was Leo Teal's phone and didn't realise that Tommy had been answering his calls (correct me if I'm wrong here).
Rhoda
I may be having a brain fart, but who's is the voice giving you instructions over the payphone in between assassination missions? Is that who we're talking about? Sombra
Guest
That would indeed be "Mr. Black" aka ???????
Rhoda
Thought it was, didn't want to be barking up the wrong tree. Interestingly, a user on an old thread here on the forums suggested he sounds an awful lot like Juan Cortez. I can see it, and it isn't beyond R* to recycle voice talents, but it doesn't exactly fit in with his character. There'd be little stopping them using him. He isn't credited though, and it's far more likely to be an additional voice credit as IMDb is rather thorough with seemingly insignificant details.
