Hmmm nice bike

Liberty City by far was the better designed city. LS may have had nicer graphics, but I honestly didn't think it was that good of a representation of Los Angeles. The city never really felt much like LA to me besides the downtown area and the bit based on the Santa Monica pier. For the rest of the city, it was way too dense, didn't feel that well-designed, and in some ways it felt more like a Saints Row-style made-up city rather than actually being based directly on a real life place.

both cities are great. but i have to give it to los santos. i just love the palm trees and the sunsets. the atmosphere is so much better. i love going to the beach and just soaking it all in. going for a bike ride on the trail. it feels so immersive like im actually there. i wish i could do the same in gta 4 but there are no bikes. one of the many fails of 4. moving away from that we also have a desert and countryside of gta 5. and i think blaine county is amazing. i could go on all day about how beautiful it is. gta 4 was originally going to be the whole new york state. and that would have been nice. it would be cool to compare the two hd countrysides. but oh well.

GTA IV.

Despite being 10 years old, it's difficult to find a game nowadays that can match it's graphics.

A good atmosphere in Middle Park is a good example. Visit the place in the morning sun and the environment is brilliant.

The PC port could have been much better if it was optimised to run on higher spec hardware, then the graphics would have been better.

GTA V graphics are slightly better but not much of an evolution compared to GTA IV, however there are a few places where the atmosphere is better, such as the suburbs in Richmond and the desert.

A good thing is that the game is stable on the graphics settings I input.

I've never been a huge fan of Los Angeles as a setting (With the exception of LA Noire). Liberty City just feels more like a real city to me. It's better designed and thought out that it's more than just window dressing. I still discover new things about it after 10 years of playing.

Generally I just prefer East Coast cities because of their architecture, atmosphere, culture, history etc.

Aesthetically? Easily Los Santos, I don't see how anyone could say Liberty City when it comes down to purely aesthetics. LC did a great job of capturing the gritty vibe of NYC though.

That's kind of a silly thing to say when asethietcs are subjective. What's the saying? "beauty is in the eye of the beholder".

LC did feel more "real" in a sense. Especially with the pedestrians that walk around and perform various tasks, and who don't freak out and run or call the cops on you for standing next to them. Los Santos had a kind-of blandness to it, it felt more like being on a giant movie set instead of an actual city.

Aesthetically beautiful superficially? Los Santos; it’s made from prettier graphics afterall. But it also has hotter prostitutes, fancier cars, sunshine and nice beaches.

But when we’re talking about aesthetics from an artistic point of view, Liberty City is the most beautiful game world i’ve ever seen.

Definitely Los Santos.. Standing near the Vinewood sign and looking at the city at night with its bright lights, smoggy cloud and all those moving cars make it feel like the city is moving on without you. I can't count how many photos I've taken from that spot.

Los Santos. I just love how rich and vibrant the city feels.  Strawberry and Rockford hills are so different, yet both feel like home to me. I love cruising around Vinewood and interacting with the crazy npcs there. I love soaking in the atmosphere in Vespucci beach. Watching the beautiful sunsets and the sprawling city from Galileo Observatory never gets old for me. Cruising around LS at night feels very atmospheric. If only the city had more suburbs, and the npcs weren't so antsy all the time, then it would have been almost perfect.

Los Santos and its not even close.

People saying LC is insane it was ugly city and everything from trees to buildings was a blurry mess.

Los Santos had beautiful palm tress, crisp looking roads and highly detailed buildings with grafitti and murals.

While LC had only concrete jungles and papermade tress.

I would actually rate San Andreas higher than GTA 4's crappy Liberty City.

Exactly my thoughts. And lets be honest LS did a better job of capturing LA than LC did with NYC

The best place in Liberty City to get that sense is Star Junction. Not a single area of Los Santos looks as spectacular and feels as alive as Star Junction does on a nice, rainy night. Or any time/weather really.

The Algonquin skyline looks amazing too at sundown.

Los Santos.

It has variety. Beaches, suberbs, hills, downtown,...

In LC it's all skyscrapers and other apartments. I feel sick whenever I'm in that city. It's like I feel the pollution and population. LC map seriously needs some surrounding areas if it's gonna return in a future GTA.

That's like saying Los Santos is all run down ghetto areas. Meadow Hills, Steinway, Beechwood City, Willis etc aren't crammed with skyscrapers and apartments. You don't have to like the city, but you could be a little more open minded.

It's an opinion. Liberty City looks the same to me in every area. Every place is just filled with vastly populated buildings and people. As I said this city actually makes me FEEL the Crowd and pollution. The dark tone of GTA 4 also helps my opinion that people in the city sort of feel sick.

Physical map properties aren't subjective. I get if you don't like being stuck in a city, but saying it's ALL skyscrapers and apartments isn't true.

Also the fact it makes you feel its population and pollution is the very thing R* set out to achieve. It's inspired by one of the most densely populated cities in the world. Not some sea side shanty town.

Note:I never said I'm sick of the city l. I said the city makes me feel sick. And I'm sure that's what R* wanted to achieve. I'm a Californian type of guy. I want fresh air. beautiful views from mountains. Mansions. Massive beaches and piers. That's why I love Vice city and Los Santos and Las Venturas and sort of dislike san fierro and liberty city.

I don't like cities like new york, detroit, chicago. I love san diego, los angeles, miami.

Also I hate cold places.

Los Santos, it looks shiny and new like from every movie that was made in LA.

On the other hand there is Liberty city, is great too.It feels like real s*ithole in some districts. They captured this really well.

I dont know both cities are aesthetical masterpieces in their ways.

We share a similar taste, i also prefer cities with a more sunny, open vibe like Los Santos and Vice City. Interesting you don't like San francisco/fierro though. I don't know if you've played Watch dogs 2 but it's San Francisco has stuff you like such as that fresh air vibe, beaches and piers, mansions etc, feels very similar to Los Santos. I would probably want VC for GTA VI as my first choice but SF would also be a good choice imo, from what I've seen of it in various media it looks very diverse and colourful

I liked san Francisco in watch dogs 2 . not as much as los angeles but I liked it. However san fierro is a bit weird in GTA SA. For me LV and VC in a map for GTA VI could be a dream come true.

Liberty City. I love the dark, rainy, gloomy weather over sunny weather. Liberty City feels more lively than Los Santos. Liberty City is colorful in it's own way and love the architecture, culture and atmosphere of LC.

Los Santos is beautiful too but I prefer Liberty City over it anytime.

I’m mostly an east coast type of guy so Liberty City. Although I do think Texas, Arizona, New Mexico, California, and Las Vegas are all quite cool settings, I really like New York City, New Jersey, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Buffalo, Boston, Florida, Cleveland, Columbus, Cincinnati, Chicago, Detroit, and to a lesser extent, New Orleans, even more so.

Liberty City, hands down. V's LS just disappointed me, it's pretty bland just like most of the map overall. To this day I find SA's rendition superior.

I like both but I'd say LS. I prefer the rest of the map in V but it's really fun speeding round LS.

I like Wall-2-Wall cities, but something about the HD LC just doesn't appeal to me as much as HD LS does. Weird because in the 3D era it was the opposite. I think it may be due to Rockstar having changed LC very drastically in terms of atmosphere compared to 3D era LC, where as LS in the HD era still has the same vibe as 3D era LS and It also has a very similar layout. HD LC just felt too different that all the things I liked about 3D era LC were gone.

That's a tough one.

Given the right conditions (time/weather/area) each one can look quite nice. But by default, it's Los Santos, which has a higher chance of looking more beautiful if you pick a random spot.
