Anyway, I'm liking the game so far, but if I don't click with Alexios, I'll give Kassandra a try.

There are some quests and responds that feels better if it was played with Alexios. But overall so far I feel it better to be with Kassandra. Especially during the Cult of Kosmos.

I hope there will be ACOd novel.

I played probably one of the most intriguing side quests yesterday, the Dagger Cult set of missions, everything about it was awesome

This game is amazing. Origins got me back into the AC series - I loved it! Odyssey is even better! It got me back into gaming after a very long dry spell.

I'm level 17 with about 22 hours in. Just finished Chapter 4. Took me ~30 hours to finish Origins main story. I'm not even near done with Odyssey.

If they really are making an effort on the present again (the real story), color me interested. By Revelations, I was disgusted at how Ubisoft handled the story. But if they are going to phone it in, I'd rather they leave it off entirely so that I don't expect anything more than Period Romp du Jour.

They've remixed Ezio's family for Rogue, Unity, Syndicate and Origins and I think, the phone games.

It's no surprise really that they continue to use it.

(Yeah I don't know why it chose to reproduce your surname several times, probably something to do with the forum being garbage)

Yeah, at this point it's practically the theme of Assassin's Creed.

I’d say it was anything but subtle, rewatch the last meeting between Bayek and Ava at the end of the base game, and it transitions towards’ its own version of the theme

I just have one question about this game, and I don't really want to read too many posts as I don't want it to be potentially spoiled for me.

I heard before release that the fighting would be more RPG style, which I just find ridiculous for an Assassin's Creed game.  Can anyone either confirm or deny (please deny) that?

Thanks :)

Edit: Okay, I just watched some video footage and it looks a lot like AC Origins, in lots of ways.  I'm pretty much sold on it.

Any of you know the frustration of trying to focus on killing a mercenary, and you end up aggroing the whole f*cking map while trying to do so? 🙄

I stumbled upon Klytemnsestra the Child of Iron in Lokris, and thought I'd give her a go, despite her being level 18, and I a measly 16. Anyways, she has this nasty poisonous shield bash that got me a few times. On the third attempt, I get her down to 3% health, but this random Spartan oaf rides his horse into my staff swing, gets aggroed, jumps off, and charges me to death. F*cking lost it. Loaded back in, saw a similar dude right in front of me, and ended him and his friends, just for good measure. Anyways, was so pissed, I went on a mad rampage up and down this road, first poor foe I ran into, was Klitoris the c*nt of Iron again, she didn't get a single hit on me this time, f*cking aced all the counters and dodges - done. Was parading around with her body on my shoulders, when Tydeus, Lover of Euterpe made his entrance, and things kinda escalated from there...

azody_01.jpg

Tydeusrekt.

azody_02.jpg

Fore!

azody_03.jpg

Fresh pile of lard brains, and the three mercenaries that got in the way. Two new customers in the background.

azody_04.jpg

Spartan-kicked this one all the way down the beach.

azody_05.jpg

Sacked these three tossers and about thirty of their nameless brethren (and their horses), in one single gory sitting - and it was glorious😆

For me it's rather the opposite. Bounty level goes up when I'm fighting someone and keep murdering faction member one by one in front of their friends.

I've gotten myself to level 5 Bounty and Mercenaries arrive at the scene as fast as Batman.

Good thing is, Mercenary is still considered as a different faction even when they are hired. So sometimes they poison/fire bombed the faction soldiers on accident. Good stuff top kek.

--------

I notice that NPC can swim. But when they have reached below 50% of health (or maybe 30% or so), they lost the ability to do it and will drown. I've had a Mercenary getting kicked to a shore and the poor guy died drowning at the earliest depth of the sea. Needless to say, I reloaded the game and hired him.

I've really been ignoring hiring people I paid for it when my lieutenants were useless when I got my ass beat boarding a ship.

If you mean by RPG style fight means spongy, then yes, it is spongy. Although I would say it is the most lenient RPG sponginess I've ever played in WRPG and JRPG or any games that adopt RPG levelling and stats.

Playing in Normal difficulty, being on the same level is pretty much easy in terms of combat. It's even easier if your gear is up to par and in good quality. I'm talking in the state of having sh*tty outdated gear most of the time because I'm too stingy to buy or run out of Irons for upgrade. However I've survived tons of fights with higher level enemies up to 3 level gaps so far.

Parrying stumbles enemy. Anyone close by within your parrying range will stumble as well. Dodging at the right time puts you in slow-mo for a few seconds, allowing you to immune to attack and your damage output increases.

This game also has the most lenient enemy search I've ever played. Spin a big object for a while and they'll go into "?". Wait for a bit by hiding in grasses and bushes and I can already launch yet another Stealth Attack or Assassinate while they're still searching. They don't really have a doggy-sniff search style.

Weapons is also purposeful more than just giving different damage. For example, I like Mace when it comes to fighting shielded enemies because it flinches and can easily break their guard.

You will be struggling with combat in the beginning / introduction part of the game. The damage will be punitive and I've seen my Kassandra getting throat slit and stabbed multiple times. But having started with Shadow Assassin in Assassin Skill Tree and done all the quests before leaving for the next area, I can say stealth is pretty much doable and the way to go. Even way more to go as I progress because the game gets easier and less punitive after I geared up, despite of being undergeared.

Don't worry about levelling. There are tons of quest for you to do with generous XP. Unlike the bullsh*t spread, there's no such thing as grind in this game. You are not going to find enemies and kill them over and over again on sole purpose of getting XP nor will you Rooftop Rumble-ing. Don't listen to brain-dead players and articles claiming sh*t on their own expense of being suck in the game.

My Skill is as minimum as this pretty much from early in the game until now:

9HKEwY7.png

I've never played Origins before and never finished AC1, so I expect anyone who played Origins and classic AC to actually be better than me in both combat and stealth - and well, understanding the game as any gamers should do, which frankly speaking, I'm still not impressed with the community I've seen in another forums/social medias so far. :facedesk:

Hire Mercenary or at the very least, hire those big guys with heavy weapons or those with poison arrows, bombs, javelin throw, fancy stuff like that.

My ship can hold up to 3 Lieutenants so far and I have 3 giants with axes on my back. They are not mowing people instantly, but in case of boarding big ships with a lot of enemies, ganking one target with them makes them pretty deadly that it's almost impossible for me to hire enemy Lieutenant before they get killed by my men.

Sooo... some random things I experienced:

1. Ramming ship into death gives you a kill cam. But I guess everyone knows that already. Who doesn't like Burnout Water Edition?

2. Javelins and arrows can kill enemy ship crew. I threw Javelins from close by and got a kill cam from the killed Lieutenant.

3. I rammed enemy's ship at the tail and it threw some of the crew off into the sea

4. We can stealth kill horse rider

5. Bear is the noobest animal, Snake is noob, Dog is novice, Wolf is beginner, Lion is easy, Shark is intermediate, Boar is true predator

6. Vultures loot dead body

7. When wolves knocked me off my horse, I fled and they were biting my Phobos. It seemingly dieded, not moving and all. But by the time the wolves were killed, Phobos disappeared and can be called back.

8. I ran into a roaming Mercenary with enormous cat previously. Recently, I met a Mercenary is going for a bounty bringing a pet lion.

9. I had two Spartans and a Mercenary chasing me in grave blood thirst. Two Spartans burned to death after getting friendly fire bomb repeatedly from the Mercenary.

10. A crazy Mercenary lady with hunting dog was after me. I missed my headshot on her doge and was found out. Doge ran to me, she threw a bomb, and it blew her own doge to death. She's hired to ship crew. GGWP.

This, soo much this.

also, a lvl 9 chicken attacked me while I was fighting two mercs at once. It died in the chaos of the battle, so I’m not sure who killed it.🐓

Outlaw from the West

just picked this up this morning, probably one of the best RPGs I’ve played in a while

but it’s not an assassins creed game (well, so far for me at least)

assassins creed used to mean pure stealth, you are meant to be one of the people, a blade in the crowd. now you’re taking down countries and going full on Rambo in enemy hideouts and forts. It’s really strayed far from what it was originally based upon. i doubt it’ll ever go back to the ways of the original first two games.

dont me wrong, odyssey is a good game, but i just don’t think it’s a proper assassins creed game yet.

Oh yeah. Chicken. lol.

Someone's chicken was mad and clawed me when I was running away from soldiers in town.

Invalid. That's just you. I don't go rambo. I tactically assassinate people, though I also enjoy fighting sometimes when I screwed up.

See this is what I'm saying. I seem to play this game more Assassin's Creed-y than classic Assassin's Creed players.

Ask them how stealth kill feels like.

All that Stealth Attack buffs, bushes, crouch, climbing ability. What a waste of a feature if not being used.

I usually start out stealthy while thinning out the herd, and go full Rambo once the group is at a manageable size. You can't give me a shiny Spartan helmet with a big red brush on the top and expect me not to go around Spartan kicking the crap out of everyone.

I do admit this has been my least stealthy playthrough of an AC game, but I don't feel like I'm playing it wrong - it feels like stealth and full on brute force are two legitimate options, like in Skyrim or other games that offer multiple play styles.

I just miss the one strike one kill Assassination.  Nobody was safe.  Your challenge was killing a target without being seen.

Now you are behind an enemy with a three foot blade, and when you “stealth strike” them they somehow survive because they’re bigger.  That’s not how it works in real life.  EVERYONE dies when you obliterate their heart with a spear.

I found that when you drop a torch and enter free aim, your arrow will be fire arrow. This is handy stuff.

When you're burning and standing next to brazier, your arrow will lit up as well.

And I just came across hunter's village. Everyone wouldn't stop chasing me while spraying fire arrows like TwinBee.

2 cents:

I like the new direction of the series but at the same time I miss old school Assassins Creed.  I think they should split into 2 different IPs.  They can return A.C. back to the Templars and Assassins, with all the crazy future tech, the large settings with large crowds of peds, the high climbs to sync and the leap of faith into the hay.  They can rebrand the new school A.C. as the story driven history lesson it is now.

I am liking Odyssey.  Although I am having some difficulty connecting to the main character.  Not sure what is missing...might just be me and my day life stress interfering with my njght life relaxing game time.
