Which songs from GTA 3 are used in the radio switch sound?

Recommended Posts

Kinda stupid question, but what are them? KNN. got my attention bout this.

i'm pretty sure the "waaaa" comes from Game FM's "By A Stranger" or Double Cleff FM, but cannot come in my mind what "driving your awesome".

And sorry if i posted in the wrong section.

EDIT: Driving your awesome is from the Dormarton ad.

Lock n' Stock

I do recognise a couple of Lips 106 tracks in there. "Bump To The Music" by Fatamarse is definitely there, and I think "Forever" by Lucy (briefly at 0:07) is as well. Don't know about the others, unfortunately.

Interestingly, I was having a conversation about the radio switch sounds not that long ago. "Bump to the Music" (0:00) and "Forever" (0:07) from Lips 106 are definitely included as pointed out. I actually have these individual sounds uploaded separately in case anyone would like to hear them more closely:

Going back to the video linked in the OP, the Dormatron Commercial is included at 0:04. 0:02 sounds like Roxy Music's More Than This from the GTA Vice City Soundtrack. I wouldn't be surprised if the pieces of music at 0:03 and 0:10 are also from the Vice City Soundrack, the latter of which sounds like Alcatrazz's God Blessed Video. I think it's a nice touch adding in the various pieces of music into the sound effect, I could clearly notice Bump to the Music while I was playing which is what led me to check out some of the sfx files for myself.

Hmmm nice bike

I always thought that one bit sounded like Bryan Ferry's voice! Can't believe I never realized it was that song.

To the original poster, no I don't think it's a silly question at all. Obscure perhaps but really interesting! I've sometimes wondered, "what is that distinctive noise?" I've not heard it in subsequent GTAs and it is one of those small details that makes me think of GTA:VC, almost nostalgically.

Thanks for the replies, I'm starting to understand what those noises actually were and I would never have guessed! Already, I'm hearing the radio switch noise and I'm thinking of driving my Esparanto down Ocean Drive, mowing down neon-pink and light-green clad rollerskaters as Bryan Adams' 'Run To You' comes on the radio!

Perhaps it was these smaller details, perhaps it was me at the time, but I think GTA:VC is the best GTA so far. (Oh and yes for those who have seen my joined date, I am practically a dinosaur bound for Jurassic Park, haha! Although I see a few others of my kind...)

Kind of makes me wonder now where they got the radio switch sounds for GTA IV, too. It almost sounds like they just recorded a real radio while changing frequencies, you can slightly hear voices but it's nothing too distinctive or anything that would be from a previous game. It's amazing how something as simple as the quick sound made when changing the radio can become nostalgic.

I have to agree that VC is among one of the best GTAs from the III era. SA and VCS were amazing titles too though, but to me VC has a slight edge over them.
