New terrains like volcanoes?

Recommended Posts

Posted (edited)

Should the outskirts of future GTA cities feature unorthodox terrains like swamps in Vice City, actual hurricane, earthquakes during mid-mission, or volcano eruptions? Would love to see players make their character jump into the volcano pit or try to plunge a car / helicopter into it.

Edit: Will volcanoes be powerful enough to finally stop the train?

Could add a challenge to a usual simple mission. One of your contacts orders you to go out and rescue someone before a Storm or Volcanic eruption takes them out.

Even though this is an idea for two things, terrain and weather effects, I'm going to say yes, new areas like swamps and different terrains should be explored. The only game to get swamps right IMO is Mafia 3, so I reckon R* could pretty easily top that. Weather or natural disasters affecting missions part way through sounds interesting, if it was implemented well I'd be all for it.

Volcanoes though? No thanks. No need to make GTA more like an action movie than it already is. I understand there are some pretty ridiculous ways to die in GTA but there's no way you can have fall in lava then walk out of the hospital all fine and dandy.

I don't think we'll have a volcano in the next GTA that erupts frequently due to it being R* wanting to be realistic as possible so it's unlikely we'll get an active one.

However, I think there will be a volcano in the next GTA but it won't spew lava all the time.

Watch this and try to repeat what you just said:

OT: It's not a bad idea, we'd have tons of fun with volcanoes, and an earthquake in a mission or as a cheat would be cool too.

especially since GTA:SA was supposted to have earthquakes

You mean to tell me that after the GTA characters actually fall from space, get eaten by sharks in the middle of the sea, and get blown up in fiery car explosions, they just get patched up in the hospital, and continue their day? Edited by .Smaher.

Yes, if they decide to recreate Las Venturas. Since there is a Las Vegas casino with a artificial active volcano.

I'm talking about singleplayer gameplay, not multiplayer gameplay

GTA Hawaii confirmed?

No, cause Paradise can also refer to Las Vegas's Paradise area and there is a casino with a artificial active volcano.

I believe the background of the Paradise picture found in GTA5's strip club is Vice City and its definitely our next locations. Since R* are calling ig Project American, they must have multiple locations like Las Venturas and Vice City. Look at the Easter Eggs from ow and GTA4, the speculations and leaks have to be true.

Yeah it would be amazing if there where different biomes in the game like:

  • beaches
  • snowy areas
  • deserts
  • forests
  • tropical jungle
  • swamp
  • countryside
  • big city

But with the new terrains there should be a more in depth weather system that doesnt only make dynamic rain.

Tropical jungle, no.

Snowy areas, forests, deserts, swamps, only if the area the game is set in has areas like it in real life.

Beaches are not a biome.

Anything outside of a city or town is referred to as the countryside.

The Hawaiian islands would be a good location, considering no one knows how long the active volcano currently spewing will stay active.

No, it doesn't fit a game like GTA. It would fit more into fantasy settings, Far Cry series, possibly Uncharted / Tomb Raider, but not GTA/RDR. Few games are also ready to simulate earthquakes or hurricanes mid-mission, although we might see some nasty weather at times if the next GTA is set in Vice City. No hurricane landfalls or floods or damage on properties, but frequent thunderstorms that could obstruct / block the view at times.

We have beaches and the city almost always in GTA. At least San Andreas and Vice City will have those. And if Liberty City is the setting for the next GTA game, i guess they could Alderney Shore. Tropical jungles don't fit a game like GTA (esp. if it stays in America). Deserts, snowy areas, forests and swamps are okay if the setting where the game is in does have those biomes. Vice State should have those swamps (and it should have crocodiles). San Andreas should have "real" deserts. Snowy areas are in Yankton. Many areas could have forest, but they should be real (not GTA V like).
