How much money does everybody have?

Currently at just over $23mil and every dollar I get sets a new all-time high. What I do with it?  Hell, I figure $20mil is already more than enough to get what I'll want right away in the next update with plenty to spare.

 

Maybe I'll finally get a second office garage and start checking out some civilian cars, haven't paid much mind to them in a long time...

Went over 660 mil yesterday. People always want to share (have me give them) money buuuut when I start telling them about a give cars to friends glitch and I need their help their eyes glaze over and they get that "here he goes again" look. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Comments like these make me wonder if people actually enjoy GTA Online - for the gameplay itself - or if they're just after the DLC and view missions/jobs as a means to an end. If the game is actually fun to play, then you'd still enjoy freeroam work, crates, import export, heists, races, etc. regardless of payouts at the end. There's a perpetual state of grinding inherent to GTA Online  which has led many to look at game modes in terms of how quickly they generate the most money instead of sheer enjoyment. Becoming a slave to every random event week and sale while becoming a hostage to your own budget. Not the player's fault, sharkcards don't sell themselves. But it's totally warped perspectives about the point of the gameplay in the first place. 

 

Some (not you Marina) outright to refuse to play many gamemodes and jobs if the payouts are too low or not as quick. Rather than dick around, play something with low pay or get into foolish, possibly money draining shenanigans they hold back. Never fully giving in to the spontaneity of the game. That's a liberty you have with a lot of money. You can make the sale in a packed lobby, just for the thrill of it, then just brush it off and do something else. You can quit Pac Standard or Doomsday after suffering restart after restart without worrying about losing the payment at the end. You can do races and deathmatches even if you would make more money doing something else. Calling Ghost Org to hide your cargo or spending thousands destroying attacking Oppressors doesn't have to be as big of a setback as people make it out to be. Then there's the content.

 

I can run any business or buy any car, fly any plane and paint it any color. I can blow it up or blow someone else's up or do nothing and walk away. Playing with randoms is a lot more agreeable when you have nothing to lose and you're set regardless. I'm in freeroam blowing money on random PvP battles or I'm in freeroam blowing money on cars & clothes, it doesn't matter either way. That's peace of mind. You're free to do what you want. Free to have fun and free from spending that time working instead. 

 

But I'm just a cheater degenerate. I probably should be be grinding towards the next DLC right now, monotonously toiling away doing repetitive work, chasing payouts over enjoyability and constantly nickel-and-diming my way through the game...

But nah I'd rather not, that just sounds boring.

I get what you're saying, and I agree that enjoying yourself is the top priority, but sometimes being profitable is a source of enjoyment in itself. For me, the desire for profit and the thrill of working in free roam go hand-in-hand. I can still enjoy a risky sale mission when I'm sitting above what I consider 'enough' money, but it isn't really a big deal if I lose. But when I'm running that same mission right after a big update with my bank account drained, I'm that much more excited and motivated to get the sale done successfully because I actually need the cash again. There's also a certain decadent enjoyment to wasting one's hard-earned money on pointless PvP or flashy cars, or on the flipside it can be fun to work within constraints and try to get things done as cheaply as possible. For me, the two opposing but complimentary aspects of the game feed one another in an ongoing cycle which is ultimately what's kept me coming back to GTAO for so long.

 

That said, I would never grind something I don't enjoy just because the math shows it's the most profitable option, or avoid doing something I do enjoy because it didn't pay well enough. I guess I'm lucky in that the part of GTAO I like most (Free Roam, both businesswise and just messing around) gives me what I want on both sides of the equation.

Current bank balance is utterly and completely irrelevant. Since there is nothing like accumulated interest on the bank balance, there is absolutely no incentive to save GTA money for the sake of it. If you save it, it's only to buy things down the line. Only when cash has been transformed into purchased inventory does it actually attain in-game "value" beyond numbers on a screen.

 

The only question that could (arguably) be worth asking is "what is your overall income?".

182m all legit too here. Nothing to spend money on atm except crappy pegasus vehicles that i don't need. All garages etc. are full all businesses maxed out. Nothing left to do. Waiting for new content.

 

Earned 503m Spent 600m and 182m on the Bank. It should be 782m Earned. But CEO and Biker Work didn't count as income back in the early days.
