This was already mentioned before (as far as I can remember/citation needed), but Ryder was originally supposed to have a Sadler as his personal vehicle instead of a Picador.

Now that's not all, Big Smoke's has a Glendale as his personal vehicle and both the Glendale and Sadler have beater variants (or "sh*t" variants as how R* named them internally) which always appear completely damaged, even after being repaired.

Think about it, did R* intend to use these two particular cars for killing Smoke and Ryder off from the storyline? Were the beater variant of each car meant to be used after a car chase of some sort that would involve the car getting heavily damaged? Not to mention the beater Glendale still uses wheel textures from the BETA stages of the game which aren't used for the normal Glendale, so I believe these cars must've been a BETA thing before R* repurposed them into random spawns across the countryside and desert areas of the map.

Is that why Ryder complains about CJ's driving? "Say, CJ, you gonna crash the car again?"

I always assumed those beaters were simply meant to be emergency vehicles in case the player got lost in the wilderness

Paleto Bay, which is loosely based on Morro Bay and Filmore, CA, is actually located around the same area as Night City in Cyberpunk lore.

In GTA IV, the mission Pest Control was originally going to have you choose between killing either Ray Boccino or Phil Bell, much like The Holland Play with Dwayne/Playboy X or Blood Brothers with Derrick/Francis. However, it was later made to be only Ray, likely due to the decision to have him be a main antagonist in TLAD.

This seems to have been last minute, however. The dialogue of Pest Control is very clearly written with a choice in mind, what with both Ray and Phil arguing against the other and Jimmy not being sure either way, and it seems that having Jimmy order Ray's death was added in later.

What if Johnny calls him for air hockey?

In my opinion, Ray Boccino surviving in IV would've made a lot more sense for TLaD and it'd make the DLC's story even more interesting considering how Niko (and even Trevor) also walks away after dealing serious (yet indirect) damage to The Lost twice.

In TLaD's files, a lot of files related to Ashley Butler are internally tagged with the name "leila", which is the name of a minor character called Leila Sharpe who appears in the intro cutscene for "Angels in America". And according to what I once read somewhere, the news or maybe the police database declares Leila as dead after the end of the story (not proven too well, citation needed). So technically, was Ashley supposed to die after the end of TLaD?

Also, the BETA name for TLaD was "GTA IV: Old Glory" according to hidden debug text strings.

Ash is mentioned as Billy's GF in the police database, and Leila is tagged as dead roughly after No Way on the Subway...? Not sure. Either way I'm not sure the crack hoe in Angels in America is her. There's no proof for that.

Well, the wikis state that this one is Leila:

Interestingly enough, this screenshot is called LeilaSharpe yet it's used on the Crack Ho page.

Because admins on the wiki were f*cking dumb. The files call her something like "cs_slut" and that's about it. Nothing else is known about her. Plus her face is actually reused from Sara, a random encounter from IV lol.

There is a glitch in VCS revolving the mission Hose the Hoes.

When entering a safehouse of yours, or any other interior, the fires will automatically be extinguished and you will skip to the part where you have to kill the arsonist, making the mission a lot more easier.

This also applies with the firefighter side-mission.

The gang acquaintances in GTA San Andreas are programmed in an interestingly odd way, in which gangs are set to have a 'Dislike' acquaintance towards the other gangs that operate in the city they're featured in, and a 'Hate' acquaintance towards their sworn enemy gangs, and strangely towards gangs from other cities, which doesn't make much sense given that they're supposed to act with more hostility to gangs they regularly have beef with than gangs they will barely encounter.

The acquaintances data file (ped.dat) seems to follow the same path as that GTA III and Vice City, setting every gang to 'Hate' every other gang. On the other hand, according to the script files (main.scm), gangs were originally intended to have more detailed acquaintances, in which every gang is set to be hostile to the gangs they regularly cross path with, having the 'Dislike' acquaintance assigned to some of them, and the 'Hate' acquaintance assigned to their bitter enemies. But given that they didn't set the other gangs to be neutral to one another, the game loads the remaining gang acquaintances from the acquaintances data file instead, unintentionally making them extremely hostile rather than neutral.

In short:

Script file gang acquaintances:

  • Ballas - Hate: Families | Dislike: Vagos & Aztecas
  • Families - Hate: Ballas | Dislike: Vagos & Aztecas
  • Vagos - Hate: Aztecas | Dislike: Ballas & Families
  • Aztecas - Hate: Vagos | Dislike: Ballas & Families
  • Rifa - Dislike: Da Nang Boys & Triads
  • Da Nang Boys - Hate: Triads | Dislike: Rifa
  • Triads - Hate: Da Nang Boys | Dislike: Rifa

Data file gang acquaintances: 'Hate' from every gang towards every other gang.

The screenshots seem to confirm gangs had more detailed interactions. Probably bugged or something

Big Smoke's car has an error on its colours. See, it's supposed to be a weird gray, but because Rockstar used a period instead of a comma, the colours aren't set properly, you can fix this up yourself by going to line 127 in the file carcols.dat and replacing the period with a comma:

So if Ashley was originally supposed to be Leila and the latter is marked as dead after "No Way on the Subway" on the LCPD databases in IV, this would mean Ashley would either get killed or commit suicide after "Was It Worth It?" in TLaD and make Johnny's appearance in V absolutely non-canon.

Well, at least @Niobium can live in peace now...

I don't think that Ashley was meant to be Leila, especially since Ashley mentions her to Johnny in the mission Diamonds In The Rough ("You was with that Leila girl"), but rather she was supposed to have presence in the mission Angels In America rather than the so-called "Crack Ho". The latter wasn't confirmed to be Leila neither, as far as I'm concerned, it seemed to be a theory that was taken seriously in GTA Wiki, which has been edited the last time given the last time I checked it, though.

I can't recall correctly, but didn't he state that GTA V is entirely not canon? 😜 I have to say, though, The Lost MC's presence in GTA V does have its issues, even though I don't see it as bad as I used to.

Johnny's reaction to her makes a lot more sense now. I wonder if she would look okay in the cutscene when model swapped.

Edit: Both versions of Ashley have a problem (the other one being from IV) :D

Well, I said Ashley was meant to be Leila based on the following facts:

1. The text data for a couple of Ashley's missions is internally labeled as "LEILA".

2. The texture file for Ashley's apartment has the prefix "leila_" in it's name.

3. The LCPD database mentions Ashley as Billy's girlfriend and Leila as Johnny's.

And of course, the so-called "crack ho" is entirely out of the question.:kekw: I think you'll find more about Leila over in the IV BETA hunt thread.

GTA V’s map is larger than RDR 2’s map which not only makes it the biggest GTA map but also the biggest overall map that R* has ever did.

RDR2's map sure as sh*t feels bigger though, probably because of the varied environments, and no cars but instead horses.
