Fun facts about the GTA series!

- III is the first GTA game to feature building interiors.

- The Abandoned AC Tower and the Atrium are the only interiors in SA that are actually located inside their respective buildings.

- SA is the first GTA game to feature doors that dynamically move with the player's movements. One good example is the doors inside the Calton Heights safehouse in San Fierro.

- Many interiors in SA have door models that outright mismatch with the ones used for entering that interior.

- LCS is the only GTA game where wielding the Remote Grenades makes the HUD display a special weapon icon that depicts both the detonator and the grenade.

- VC, SA, LCS, VCS, IV, TLaD, TBoGT and CTW are the only GTA games where the player cannot carry all weapons at the same time.

If the player attempts to purchase a haircut from Old Reece without any money during the "Ryder" mission, the game will automatically add fifty-two dollars to the player's total money. The same also happens if the player attempts to purchase food from the Well Stacked Pizza Co. without any money, only the player gets two dollars added to the total money.

- IV, TLaD and TBoGT feature way more radio stations than any other GTA game, there are a total of twenty-three radio stations.

- GTA1 features way lesser radio stations than any other GTA game, there are a total of seven radio stations.

- The Liberteen in Star Junction features an improvisational music show called Banging Trash Can Lids for an Hour.

Wait really?! I always thought GTA V had too many radio stations!

Yeah, that's right. In fact, if the Independence FM is counted as well, that's a whole twenty-four radio stations to listen to.

If you go higher than three hundred meters up into the air in VC, the game will display "Vice City" as the name of the zone you're currently in and after that, the current zone names will not appear on the screen until you go lower than three hundred meters. That's simply because the zones' bounding boxes have been positioned and sized that way.

SA technically does feature the "Good Citizen Bonus!", but for some reason, it's disabled in the game's code and the text entry for it's message is missing from the .GXT files. By using a fix made by Fabio at MixMods, it's possible to re-enable it in SA. One interesting fact is that unlike VC, LCS and VCS, the player gets the $50 reward only once. Maybe R* tried to improve it before something went wrong and they accidentally disabled it?

VC features a special type of 2DFX effects which can be attached to map geometry: Pedestrian attractors. There are total of five different pedestrian attractor types available for use:

1. The pedestrian walks to the specified coordinates, performs an animation of using an ATM and walks away. While the specified coordinates are occupied, additional pedestrians will begin lining up behind each other. This is unused in the game.

2. The pedestrian walks to the specified coordinates, sits down for a while, gets up and walks away.

3. The pedestrian walks to the specified coordinates, waits for a bus and gets in if there's one stopped nearby. While the specified coordinates are occupied, additional pedestrians will begin lining up behind each other.

4. The pedestrian walks to the specified coordinates, stands for a while and walks away, like window shopping. This is unused in the game.

5. If the weather is rainy, the pedestrian runs to the specified coordinates and stays there until the rain stops.

Despite such an excellent system being carried over to SA, it's never used there at all.

1.GTA I, GTA London, GTA 2 (the Game Boy Version Only) and GTA 5 are the only GTAS that can play with more than one protagonist.
2.GTA London 1961 and GTA London 1969 are the only GTAS that have the same protagonists and theme music.
3.GTA London 1961 It was the First "Prequel" of the Franchise.

4. GTA Advance, GTA Liberty City Stories, GTA Vice City Stories and GTA Chinatown Wars are the only GTAS that so far have not come out on the PC.
5. In GTA Vice City, you start the game on the right side of the city, while in Vice City Stories you start on the left side.
6.GTA 2 is the Only GTA That Has No Cutscenes
7. In GTA Chinatown Wars, there is a chance that you will drive the car and turn it over and the car will stand up again (I have seen it), and a message will appear, "Ball Roll", which is probably a Starfox 64 Game Reference

I've never seen any of that in Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas? This has been carried over to Grand Theft Auto IV.

Well, R* only used the "sitting" and "window shopping" pedestrian attractor types from VC in SA. The rest of the attractors in SA are .SCM-scripted.

- VCS is the only GTA game to feature a pedestrian colors system, a pedestrian-focused version of the game's vehicle colors system.

CTW is apparently never meant to played in third-person view. Even if you somehow manage to change the view to third-person view, you'll notice the pedestrians are just flat 2D textures that are broken up into pieces and placed together in a such way that viewing them from above presents the optical illusion of proper 3D pedestrians. Proof of this is in this video.

SA features an unused and undefined weapon internally known as "flowerb" in the game files. The difference between this weapon and the actual Flowers weapon, which is internally known as "flowera" in the game files, is that this weapon features only the roots of the flowers. Maybe the flowers were originally supposed to fall off if CJ hit an entity with them? This was most likely scrapped because a weapon model cannot change on the fly unless the weapon itself is changed. Maybe R* intended a some sort of scripted system that would replace "flowera" with "flowerb" if CJ hits an entity with "flowera"?

Toni Cipriani is the ONLY protagonist who targeted Peds in his rampages

an not only that, half of his 20 Rampages are Pedestrian rampages

and above all that, not even a single protagonist in this franchise had the balls to kill peds in his rampages

not even Vic, who came AFTER Toni, sure,Vic has MORE rampage kills, but he didn't even have a single ped rampage

making the fact that Toni is the most psychopathic protagonist in the franchise 500% true

not even Tommy had the balls to do that...

edit: here's an additional fact

originally, ped rampages were planned to be in GTA 3, and the rampage timeout was 5 minutes instead of two

but the idea of ped rampages was cancelled later, and the rampages timer became 2 minutes instead of 5

Well, the "Kill Frenzy" side-missions, which were the predecessor of the Rampages in GTA1 and GTA2, involve killing pedestrians too. Also, only seven Rampages in LCS have pedestrians as targets, to be precise. As for the protagonists having the courage to kill pedestrians, I think Claude once did have the courage to do so because R* most likely made a temporary implementation of the pedestrian-focused Rampages in III during the development of the game for testing purposes. I think the targets were later changed from pedestrians to gang members because killing pedestrians who run away upon being shot at would've been really boring and five minutes would've been too much for that. They made it challenging by making the player go against gang members that can shoot back and reduced the time limit to two minutes.

The sound of the alarm that goes off when the PE4 explosive explodes during the bank robbery in "Three Leaf Clover" in IV is apparently taken from Max Payne.

In VC, there's a seemingly unused cutscene pedestrian model known as "shootra". This model bears the likeness of BFYST and it's meant to be used during the shooting range cutscene in "The Shootist". If one looks into the mission's .SCR code, the model is indeed loaded and used and the model even has it's own proper animation defined in "bank_2b.ifp". But despite everything being properly scripted into the game, it still does not appear during the cutscene. Why? Well, the answer is simple, the problem lies in the animation: The animation makes the model appear misplaced, which prevents this pedestrian from making a proper on-screen appearance.

The same misplacement bug happens to the "mserver" model used in the initial cutscene of "Messing with the Man". The animation is misplaced which causes the pedestrian to appear under the floor. Moreover, the "mserver" model was originally supposed to be a female model instead of a male one. In the initial cutscene of "Hog Tied", if you look closely at the "mserver" model as he walks past Tommy during the cutscene, you'll notice that the model is clearly using a feminine walking style. Apparently, a complete and proper fix for this pedestrian exists and can be downloaded from here. Credits to @Forever L for the fix.

It looks just like BFYST, except it's model is made to work in cutscenes only. Nothing more interesting.

In the PS2 version of III, there are files for an unused character which is internally named "plaster". First of all, thanks to @Mr. Jago for the following image:

yH0Vb4v.png

This character is Leon McAffrey in a body-cast and was originally supposed to be used in "Plaster Blaster" instead of a fake body-cast object. R* probably intended Leon to get up and flee on foot after Claude uses a car to ram the Ambulance that contains Leon to get him out. In fact, this could be an explanation as to why there is the existence of an unused "LIMP" animation that can be found in all versions of III. Maybe Leon was supposed to use this "LIMP" animation while fleeing away from Claude?

can i see that limp animation? this is like a f*cking buffet when people showcase the cut stuff
