It was confirmed on Reddit by Lamar's voice actor. It's on this video too.

Even though I like Lamar, I think I'm glad he didn't replace Franklin cause he doesn't feel like protagonist material, would have been good if he got a larger role though

There is ZERO proof that Lamar was going to be playable. His VA just speaks like his supporting role was shortened due to real life issues.

That Zac Cox guy is also talking out of his ass. He shows us the reddit post and somehow concludes Lamar was playable and that the Deathwish ending was called “Kill Franklin”. He’s just talking sh*t.

This isn't related to the franchise itself, but to the fanbases:

The people who complain about GTA V aren't the same people who've complained about GTA IV. Which makes the classic "People just want to bash the latest title" utter bullsh*t.

Agreed but this is more a depressing than a fun fact imo

@Cheatz/Trickz @Officer Ronson  yeah I was sceptical about it myself, I shouldn't have posted that video without seeing that it's backed up with solid evidence,  my apologies

Something I've just found out about a few minutes ago:

You can actually jog in the PC version of GTA IV. Just add a second key to the "Sprint" button, and you'll be able to jog without sprinting through the second key. I personally use Left Alt for it, since it's unused, as well as it's very close to Left Shift (default sprinting key).

There's actually a limit to how long you can swim in GTA 4.

I knew about it recently. After five minutes in the water, Niko/Johnny/Luis gets tired and starts losing small amounts of health until he gets out of the water.

Liberty City is a double soil of exile (at least in the 3D era):

If you take a look at the 2 main protagonists and the 2 main antagonists of the 3D period games 3 of them originate form somewhere else.

What's more LC also seems to be the only soil whose natives leave at one moment or another (at least talking about the main protagonists/enemies) since Tommy exiles in Vice City, Sonny Forelli goes to the Florida city to fight Tommy and Tony Cipriani is the only native to play his adventures in the city he comes from after a 4 years exile.

-The IRS is only mentioned once in all Gta games,in GTA SA. When Madd Dogg says his mansion got taken woozie immediatly jumps in the consersation and says "by the IRS?"

-GTA 4 is the only GTA with a great subway system(GTA5 is so bad at this)

-the n word is only said by white characters in the HD era(Gerry in GTA 4 and Jimmy in GTA 5).

I remember Lamar calling Franklin n-word on at least 2 occasions: once in one of the first missions when he tells Franklin how beautiful he is with his Apache blood, and in the last one when he calls for backup when he's about to get clapped by the FIB

Also I believe Gerry is the only character of any race who's ever said the n word with a hard r (ending with -er rather than -a) in any GTA game

That definetly took me by surprise the first time i heard it."WOW Rockstar went there" im sure they were just trying to emulate the tarantino movies(most criminals in his movies are racist).

Same! I was taken aback. But then I realised every other race/heritage in the game had been referred to by various slurs (including Gerry's) so it almost would've been the elephant in the room if they hadn't gone there. They were telling a story where the way people in the criminal underworld speak to each other was depicted realistically, as well as a world where characters are rarely simply either good or bad, so it was pure realism to include it.

A reason why the gang aspect feels somewhat depressing in the HD era (mostly GTA IV and the episodes) is because, as opposed to the 3D era (except GTA III), it is centered more around downfalls than prime days and rises. Both elements were discovered in both eras, obviously, but one of them had a greater presence than the other one in an era, and vice versa in the other era.

Both were as interesting to me, but I'm looking forward to see an appropriate balance between the two in the next era (or even title, in case it is going to take place in the HD era).

I mean the HD era takes place in 2008+ so that's definitely got something to do with it

The stories of GTA III and Vice City, even though somewhat less than in GTA IV, have more impact on the gameplay than people give them credit for;

  • Locked bridges.
  • Certain gangs turn hostile due to some progressive story events.
  • Some side-missions depend on the story's progress to unlock, and they have something to do with the protagonist's lifestyle. (especially in GTA Vice City.)
  • Certain safehouses aren't obtainable without story progression.
  • Wanted stars are limited depending on the story's progress.
  • Most of the purchasable clothes in GTA Vice City are available to wear in free roam only because they were previously used in certain storyline missions, and they still couldn't be bought before those missions. (this is even more related to how much "story-driven" the game can be considered.)

In the 3D period the Forelli mafia is the only criminal organization to appear in Liberty City, Vice City and San Andreas.

They also appear in Liberty and Vice City Stories, which makes them the only crime family to appear in every title of the 3D era.

Just reading "Vice City and San Andreas" made me imagine that you meant titles. Didn't even notice that you wrote Liberty City and not GTA III 😜.

GTA III takes place in my younger sister’s birth year (2001).

GTA VC takes place in SonOfLiberty’s birth year (1986).

GTA LCS takes place in MY birth year (1998).

Perhaps THIS is why these are my three favorite GTA games besides IV/EFLC! :)

Even if sindaco means mayor Liberty City never had any mayor bankrolled by the Sindacco's.

Vice City Stories is the only GTA game you can sprint with a minigun.

The N on the radar actually has an exact location in the 3D universe while in the HD Universe it always sets it a little more than the player's coordinates so no matter where you are it will always be a x distance from your current location.
