Griefers generally wear just about anything, but seems to have a liking to ridiculous mask and bright clothing. Tryhards almost always have a BP-helmet and more often than not red contact lenses and facepaint.

Griefer generally don't care about K/D, but are out to ruin your fun, they sometimes use unorthodox tactics, purely out to annoy. Generally, they're less... "skilled" (I use the word loosely) than tryhards.

Tryhards are out to prove them self, and therefore abuse every cheap trick in the book to get an advantage, including glitches, passive abuse etc.

Generally, griefers crumble under pressure, if they're up against someone who can fight back they more often than not leave the session quite rapidly.

There are of course multiple types of both.

I reckon the fundamental difference is that a Griefer is more concerned with how YOU feel when they do their thing, whereas a Tryhard is more concerned with how THEY feel by staying at least 1 point up on you.

No Use For A Name

Griefers blow up product and sales and are generally flying Deluxos/Oppressors/jets. They will go out of their way to kill you.

Tryhards stick to the ground and kill anyone who gets near them. I dont really see them going after product usually. They use the cheap sh*t EWO/suicide/ghost/etc stuff. Theyre the ones who are obsessed with K/D and lzzzz and all that garbage

A griefer is someone who goes after easy targets...to grief. Most griefers are tryhards. However, most tryhards are not griefers.

A tryhard is equipped with only the minimum needed to fight in GTA which is actually a pretty long list of necessaries, and little else, they arent playing missions or heists, they are usually looking to fight players of similar skill and tactics. The outfit is usually dark with a bp helmet. They tryhard to keep the score screen in their favor. Its all about the score screen for the tryhard.

Sentinel Driver

There's a huge difference between griefers and tryhards

Anyone can be a griefer. Usually a kid with a sh*tty meme mobile. They try to blow up your sh*t but usually they're pretty dumb and easy to counter. Completely hopeless once you get them out of their meme vehicle

Tryhard is a whole different culture with barcode names, ewo, red contact lenses....

You can get rid of a greifer most of the times with just a lil bit of resistance and show of force. However with tryhards if you try to that with them, that'll just make em want you more.

i wont get into the clothing and weapons aspect but the main difference between the griefer and the tryhard comes down to KD ratio!

the tryhard main focus is his beloved kd.

the main goal of the griefer is to make your life miserable at whatver cost. you blowup his flying bike, you can be damn sure he would come back with something bigger.

as a retired griefer, i can tell you that one thing you should never do is feed the griefer by sending him a angry text or letting him heard the anger/annoyance on your voice, giving him a reaction would make him come harder, seeking more reactions from you 🤣

griefers have a specific goal: to annoy

tryhards do not, they may be annoying but their active goal isn't to make the game a more unpleasant experience for others

Both are toxic dark and icky, made of unnatural materials, bad for your health and can dissolve an egg in just a few hours, only difference is one is called coke and the other pepsi

A griefer is someone that just likes too cause carnage doesn't matter what you're doing they want to blow you up

A tryhard is someone that just wants too get one over the opponent at any cost and thats all they care about

Clothing is irrelevant tbh you see tryhard and griefers in serious military gear, insidious looking demons, daft animals and near naked with a cowboy hat lol

I know all to well because im a mixture of everything bad with a bit of good :). They are similar but the tryhard has alot more determination

And no one is innocent in this game everyone tries hard and griefs at some point, anyone portraying themselves as mary poppins of los santos i do not believe you at all

Fundamental difference in my opinion:

Where trying hard means using chains of actions, which are like unnatural in any means - going through menus, using multiply tweaks, killing yourself at the end. Like a challenge to bring top score at fight with bringing there everything you got, even if opponent came bare hands.

Grief like freestyle, mostly people who likes PvP so hard, that they can't wait for an event, so they create their own. Actions including this style of game pretty simple, do what ever you like and no matter of results. Everything works and grief loadout could vary from knife to jet, from car with sticky bombs to tank. To the griefer this doesn't matter what you got, feel, think, holding, saying, doing in general - the goal is blood.

Tryhards enjoy PvP and fighting, using whatever methods they deem necessary to win. People don't like it so give them this tryhard label like it's a bad thing

Griefers just ruin the session

do such ppl really exist ? do they have any purpose in their "gaming" life ?

Not only do they exist, R* literally caters to them exclusively.

The griefers, knowing that they're upsetting you makes their little peepees hard. If they can get you to rage into the mic, They pop a 2-inch boner. If they can get you to rage quit, they sprout a 3-incher. Whether they admit or not, they're unhappy about something in their life, and they yearn to make you feel the way they do. If you want to kill their wood, go passive. Or slaughter them. Once they realize that they can't upset you, they'll move on to someone a bit more susceptible. They aren't looking for a fight, they're looking for someone they can steamroll so that they can feel better about themselves. They'll typically run once they figure out that there are no easy kills to be had, or that they'll have to work hard for the kills they manage to get.

The tryhard needs to know what he's better than you in a videogame for his little peepee to do it's thing. This guy doesn't have much going for him in the real world, so he finds his self-worth and validation in the virtual space. Well-adjusted people find validation through promotions, or getting laid, creating things, etc. Lz texts and Wasted screenshots are the tryhard's validations. He wants his willy based on the fact that he can move thumbsticks and mash buttons more efficiently than you. If he put as much effort into mashing a girl's button, he might actually get laid. Instead, tryhard'ing is the figurative penis pump for his tiny peepee. His little member is still miniscule, but it looks substantially bigger while he's texting you/messaging you/pumping away. Unlike the griefer, the better fight you put up, the more he likes it. Going passive will only earn his ire. Responding to messages will only push him to send more. If you're not up for the fight, go passive, then respond to his messages with things that have nothing to do with his messages. Like your favorite song lyrics, or pictures of cats.

Lonely-Martin

Yeah, tryhards want to score one over you and 'win' Persistent and relentless at times, but I find they can be reasoned with once one gives way, have a few on my list for PvE 2x etc. Tryhards are great in combat jobs where others aren't so comfortable, good on heists if they aren't to twitchy on the boring bits, and kick arse on survivals, lol. Handy allies in public too. :)

Griefers are out to make someone else miserable/frustrated, often going further than gaming to disrupt things. Pick fights with either, especially if a group/crew of them. Be prepared to get hammered or drop to dirty tactics... Or sit on passive calling them wankers (the jerk), lol. Some get so angry when they can't touch this.:lol::lol:

Funny old bunch, very entertaining to watch often too. Though I do wish the latter wasn't catered to as much, as WeAreNinja said above. There's room in GTA for all playstyles and far more choice. If these guys were all fighting each other, all is good, but the one's that chase passive, peaceful players for cheap shots and to aggressively hamper folk they see something about them they don't like is just daft gaming to me.

And of course, any adult attacking/bullying children so, well, that's about as low as it gets IMHO.

Griefers are insult comedians roasting the crowd at an open mic night

TryHards are Christian Bale melting down on the set of a Batman film because a crew member was moving around (doing their job)

This.

When it comes to dominance, a griefer could take pleasure in showing off their higher K/D, mocking the tryhard.

The griefer can also make tryhards feel paranoid, to the point they want to flee.
