[GTAO] How Would a Character Reset Affect You?

Wouldn't effect me one bit. I make $0.00 from the game. If I made a living from gta then yes,i reckon i would have to buy a new account like broughy.

Only thing id lose is rank and tattoos. So id start over and glitch it till it breaks.

I've deleted characters, started new accounts on Xbox 360, PS4 and Xbone so many time that it wouldn't really affect me too much. I'd be pissed at M* for doing it, but just start again.

 

If I'd kept the same account/characters from scratch, I'd be level 1000+ on PS4 and 500+ on the Bone.

Already had a character reset in the first week of playing, lost a fair bit of progress, money etc. sh*t happens. But then that was only a few days in to playing and probably a few hours of play. While I wouldn't be exactly upset if my current character was reset it would be disappointing and would likely be the end of GTA:O for me since now I only go on very rarely and for not much time.

 

My attitude towards future Rockstar titles would remain unchanged but then I don't hold much hope for them. Luckily RDR2 doesn't interest me so I can use that to see if GTA Next is an option or if it's the end of Rockstar - I suspect the latter.

If i were to get a reset that i didn't earn i would resort to quick shady means to restore what i had, probably buy a modded account with 500m and its like nothing ever changed. except that i would resent rockstar, change my name to IIIIlllIIlIIIlI and will start griefing anyone who's not a complete harmless sweetiepie to help sh*t on rockstar's gameplay experience.

I probably couldnt care less, as long as my money and the stuff I bought wasnt touched. Recreating my character would be done in a minute and leveling up is so easy now. But I would be very annoyed having to unlock all the paintjob colours again for the umpteenth time...

If I got my character reset, I'd be extremely angry and simply stop f*cking playing. I'd definitely be much more wary about getting rapped up in another online game by R* just in case my progress gets destroyed --- because when my progress gets wiped it's the type of sh*t that ends friendships. GTA V with mods is always there for me just in case though =)

 

EDIT: Just realized I could keep my money, properties, clothing and vehicles. That's extremely lenient, so I'd likely keep playing as RP isn't that important, and stats are stats. But I'd still be wall-breaking angry at R*.

I'm a hair away from cracking 300. Starting back at 0, regardless of my properties/bank account remaining, would undo all of that progress. I'd give up the game in a heartbeat and go do something productive with my life...

I have screenshots of all my characters facial settings in case of this event happening. I would just create him again.

 

As for the stats, I could care less. Meaningless numbers to me, they may as well not exist anyways. If I still have all my cars/properties/money it wouldn't change anything for me.

Had my character right from the start of GTA 5 on the PC. She is coming up on 1200 rank and I have nearly 8000 hours poured into the character. The thought that Rock star's moronic bot could come along any second and just go "Meh they cheated f*ck em" is a disgusting thing that should not exist. I am not against a certain amount of automation of the banning system but really an automated bot should not be nuking accounts that have thousands of hours of time without some human oversight into things.

 

If it were to happen to me it would be the end of GTA online. I wouldn't see the point of trying to build it all up again only to have rockstar sh*t all over my progress again with their incompetent and grossly unfair banning system.

I'm afraid I can't provide a straight, easy answer, because my current views of R* are influenced by their recent business practices and anti consumer practices, all of which make the asked subject something out of the bigger context.

Seeing the re-releases of 3D era GTA games on Steam, not adapted to work properly on modern hardware, and not featuring simple fixes, or additions (achievements known from almost all console ports), and then witnessing two huge scandals, that being Take2 vs. modders and removal of 50 songs from GTA IV (yet keeping the rotting husk of GfWL in the files), and constant degradation of GTA Online and its rampant infestation with cheaters (and miserably incompetent attempts to fight them, resulting in innocent people getting hurt by bans and money wipes - happened to me, lots 600k legit earned $ once) all made me question my support for the company, and point of supporting it with my money in the future. That being said, I'm already unsure if I ever purchase another R* product, and I can't look at the potential reset of my character as a separate incident not related to aforementioned problems.

 

Now, assuming my character, who I am attached to, I may add, got deleted, I would be pretty furious, because it would be impossible to recreate her identically as she was before. Creating a similar looking avatar would just feel wrong, it would never be the same, and even if I tried to do it, I would most likely quit GTA Online completely after first unsuccessful attempt, not beng attached to practically anything anymore (since I don't care about vast majority of things I've purchased, aside from maybe 5 cars, that's it). It finally would be the straw that broke the camel's back, since as I stated earlier, I'm already very displeased with R*'s business practices and I can't ignore them while discussing this potential problem.

 

Granted, at this point literally anything bad that R* is responsible for would make me abandon the ship and openly boycott the company. Could be a character reset, could be another soundtrack cleansing, or something completely different - doesn't matter. It's been too much, really, I've been giving them too many chances to redeem themselves and time after time, they just remained as ignorant and lazy as always. They have taken the path which leads to my personal blacklist of companies I will never, ever support financially, with 2K Games and EA being the ultimate examples.
