[C#] Detect if using custom Ped model on player

Hello,

 

I am working on a mod where an AI follows you around (in short).

As for getting the player I have so far just used Game.Player.Character, which works fine when I am playing as Michael, Franklin or Trevor.

However people have reported issues, and I have personally experienced trouble when using another model.

 

My mod needs to track the players position at all times, during debugging I noticed my AI gets teleported somewhere far away when I change model- and then CTD.

So I guess my mod still has Michael as the active tracked Ped, and it then crashes when he despawns.. That's my guess..

 

Is there an alternative method to retrieve the active player 'Ped'? Where the model won't affect it?

Track gameplay camera's position instead of Game.Player.Character and use it ?
Use a raycast from camera's position in its forward direction .. and whichever entity it hits .. basically .. the character .. track him ..

something similar ..
